"The Huntington Beach Bad Boy," Tito Ortiz, competed only one time in 2007 in a draw against The Ultimate Fighter season 2 winner Rashad Evans at UFC 73 in July. After some time away from fighting healing injuries and filming The Apprentice, Ortiz expects to return to the octagon in May.
"My last fight, before I fought Rashad (Evans), I wasn't 100%, and I just wanted to make sure if I ever fight again I'm going to be 100%," Ortiz told MMAWeekly. "The back injury that I sustained kind of hindered me for fight time. Now it's a lot better, and May will be my next fight."
"I spoke to Lorenzo (Fertitta), and it looks like in May," said the former UFC light heavyweight champion . "They're going to wait until May, so the next Cinco de Mayo weekend will be Tito Ortiz' next fight."
Ortiz' career has been plagued with injuries. He needed surgery to repair torn ligaments in his knee prior to his UFC 40 bout with Ken Shamrock in 2002. A nagging back injury has been a torn in his side suffered in training for his UFC 44 match with Randy "The Natural" Couture in 2003. He entered the octagon with a heavily wrapped knee against Forrest Griffin at UFC 59 in 2006.
Ortiz said, "I really want to fight at 100%. I'm making these guys look good when I'm not 100%. When I had the draw with Rashad, I should have never did that. I should have beat him, but it's all right. We'll do it again. I just want to make sure I'm 100% before all of my fights so I don't let any of my fans down when I lose or if I get a draw or something like that because I felt like I let my fans down and myself down, and I don't want to let that happen."
By the time May 2008 rolls around, ten months will have passed since the draw with Evans. With his opponent not yet named, Ortiz is focused on training and coming in 100% healthy.

reason i can't stand this pompous asshole-----he comes in, fights an aging Shamrock, obviously wins, then acts like he's the man. Shamrock was most def. not in his prime.
A 100%, in his prime shamrock would've destroyed ortiz. Ortiz needs to learn respect. I'd like to see an Ortiz/Jardine matchup

id like to see him fight somebody that can knock him out

Evans would kill him in a rematch. Probably knock him out with a kick to the melon.

Tito will beat Evans in a rematch but i don't want to see it. I think Tito vs Jardine will be a good fight.

Whats wrong with Evans vs. Jardine, "Math God" Milfer?
-
actually i think Tito my be a little too aggressive for jardine....
jardine seems to get a little flustered w a more aggressive opponent.
i also wanna see ortiz get ktfo! what about a tito/forrest rematch?

I never said anything about Evans vs. Jardine. I just rather see tito fight jardine, than evens again.
-
what if tito fights houston alexander if he promise not to take it to the ground :D

Tito would kill Alexander. That win against The Dean of Mean, Keith Jardine was a fluke.

thats true jardine rocked Alexander and tried to finish him to quick if jardine was more patient we wouldn't even be talking about him.
-
Damn look at all of you jump ship after one loss. You guys were all whooping and hollering about Alexander a month ago or so. I would love to see him vs. tito. I am sure he is working on his ground game.. With 8 monhs to train takedown defense my vote goes to Houston "the turtle" Alexander vs. Titio "the walking injury" Ortiz
-
I never talk shit about any fighter or anybody on this board all i said if jardin was more patient we would not even be talking about him. And it's true

I'm just playing devil's addvocate bro, the baord has been dying down. But my vote is for Houston if it goes down.

wind from where?
-
why in gods name would rich wanna move up to 205? he can't stand w any of the top 205'ers imo
-
because he cant beat the spider. why would he stay in a division were he cant compete for a tittle.
-
I can't stand cocky fighters like Hughes but Tito I like...specially after seeing him as the TUF coach. I'd love to see him come back at 100% for any number or remarches Wanderlei, Evans, Griffin....he's beat them all. But the one I would most like to see, Tito v Ramapage, would likely not happen since they are buddies...
-

and he would be a better match for Rampage? He should LOSE weight
-

you think he can get to 170? if he can drop that much weight then he will be better off. i dint think he can.
how much do you think he weighs on the street 205 210?
-

doubt it. evans is overrated. everyone said he was going to kill bisping. just didn't happen.

i don't know how much he weights on the street....and i was being sarcastic in dropping weight. I just don't see Franklin being much of a threat in the light heavies

I agree with you, he might beat some lower level light heavies but not compete for a tittle.
