Chicago is a great city. Real people. Winters blow. Summers are awesome. Anybody that goes has to got to see the bean near the art institute. It's a stereotypical tourist thing to to but its worth it.

There is a Germantown which is a suburb here by Milwaukee...there's nothing special there, just a regular suburb.
On another note...I do know of the show in Chicago, I might go. One of the bigger shows in the area if I'm not mistaken.

Life is good. Little man fell and busted his nose up right before Christmas. Kid climbs on everything. It's 73 and sunny right now.
If you were to accomplish this task, it would certainly be legendary and something the kids would speak of in getbig lore for years to come. The story would be even bigger if Jay refused to sign it, thereby legitimizing TheBlockHead as the man who got Mr O to meltdown (publicly diss a fan like that?)
Either way, I don't know why the idea hasn't come to light before. Hopefully Jay would just laugh it off. He seems like a good sport with a great sense of humor.

it's fucckin' sad man, i was born in Chicago and lived 90 miles straight south of there for 10 years and went there at least once a month as a kid and it's depressing how much it's changed, you go to Lake Michigan or Navy Pier and it's all blacks and mexicans. :'(

There are fewer blacks here in Chicago now than there were in the 80's. There has been a massive white influx into the city and a black outflux into the suburbs of Chicago. A few of the areas that were straight up ghettos in the 80's (Wicker Park, area around the remnants of Cabrini Green) now are trendy neighborhoods because of all the white people moving in.

If you went to areas like Wicker Park/Bucktown in the 1980's, it was shooting galleries and abandoned lots. It was trendy enough in the early 2000's for MTV to film a Real World there. Most of the housing projects have been destroyed or are in the process of demolition. Robert Taylor Homes are completely wiped out. Cabrini is almost entirely boarded up or demolished, and now condos are all over the place down there. There's a whole foods, trader joes, and a banana republic where before it was a ghetto. Uptown now has a corner with a Starbucks, Border's, and a designer sushi bar. Prior to this it was empty lots, barred-window liquor stores, and dollar stores (though the dollar stores are still there). The South and West Loop, which used to be pretty ugly, are coddling yuppies with Whole Foods stores.

Where the hell were you guys hanging out at 20 years ago? Even the homicide rate here, while still relatively high comapred to most larger cities, is at basically a 30 year low. 15 years ago you couldn't get a cab to take you in certain parts of the city that are $1200/month for a 1-bedroom rent districts now.

I'm speaking in generalities, I was 6 years old 20 years ago. Crime is going down all over the US. As an example, crime in NY is also very low compared with the 80's and 90's and is considerably more diverse. There's not always a correlation.

August for a friends wedding. I go about 4 or 5 times a year for work also but that's in Addison (burbs) so I don't get to hang out down town too much; maybe one night a trip...

California weather and scenery is amazing, but it has its negatives.
Number one, it's a fake state with fake people. Those who have visited know what I'm talking about. Those of you that live there and don't? You're probably one of the people I'm talking about.
Me personally, I can't tolerate how lazy people are on the west coast. Again this is a generalization, there are hardworking people there, but east coast people run circles around them.

In Chicago...Mexicans are the worst drivers ever. Maybe not try driving through Chinatown. Boystown on N. Halsted street reminds you of 'Soddom/Gahmorra'. You pray for the green light at intersections in most neighborhoods because someone is either trying to wash your windows for some change or throwing up gang signs on the corner in a 4 X white T with a shag and tear drop tattoo on either their left or right side of their face depending on where you are.
The Dan Ryan STAYS in gridlock along with the 290/Eisenhower. 24/7/365. People are seperated in Chicago not only by race and gang affiliation but based on what newspaper they read...the Sun Times or the "Trib". If you want good Italian food you go to Taylor st. If you want to get beat up in a local dive bar you go to any bar in Bridgeport as they hate outsiders...just ask Lenard Clark that.
If you need ANY bootleg on DVD or need a new watch, sunglasses, socks, leather gloves, wallets, belts or cologne then you go check out the fine salesman working the 87th/Dan Ryan exit at anytime of the day or night.
It's all good in the hood. We have HOT summers, frigid WINTERS, crisp FALLS and warm SPRINGS. Beaches like LA, nightlife like Vegas and culture like NYC.

Bastard! It took me about 30 minutes to scrape the ice frozen on all my windows this morning and rock back and forth to get my car out of the pile of snow I was parked in.

I used to stay in Chicago from time to time. If I remember right, the street the hotel was on, was Mannheim Road. I want to say on the northeast side from downtown, though memory is faded. I remember the place was called "The Lido." The WORST hotel I've ever been in. From the roaches, the shitty mattresses that couldn't be flipped anymore because they were that worn out, the hookers banging on your window at all hours of the day/night, the windows that did not lock, the doors that didn't lock...to the weather that could change disposition faster than Adonis.
The Steak and Egger across the street wasn't half bad though! ;D

I definitly agree, Chicago always been an awsome city but it has completly cleaned up since the 80's. People who don't live in the city always have a delusional view on things. I thought Cabrini is pretty much closed down, or in the process.

I used to drill at the National guard Armory at 51st and cottage grove. I used to go over the highway to get some Scoal from Bridgeport because in the hood they have never heard of dip. My buddies threw around the idea of stopping in at a couple Bridgeport bars, No way those white people are scarier than any Black/Mexican. For all the out of towners reading Bridgeport is a pocket of blue collared Mayor Daley relatives living in a small pocket surrounded by Blackness. I think that summer they beat up that leanord Clark kid they also beat up a sports writer.... Classic

That area my friend is Stone Park just Northwest of the airport and city. It's full of mexican gang members and dudes looking to score some ass while on layover from O'hare.
