Title: Hillary cries
Post by: Straw Man on January 07, 2008, 12:46:24 PM
ABC News' Kate Snow Reports: Campaigning in New Hampshire one day before the first-in-the-nation primary, Senator Hillary Clinton got emotional and had tears in her eyes as she spoke with voters about how hard it is to balance a busy campaign life and her passion for the country's future.

She's done:  http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/01/clinton-gets-em.html

desperate.  she won't recover.

you just witnessed a moment akin to Dean's screaming "we're coming to minnesota" meltdown following his loss in Iowa in 2004.

I think she's toast but I'm not sure this is the equivalent of Dean's scream.  Depends on if it was caught on camera and/of if it gets widely reported.

I doubt her Democratic opponents will mention it but if the media runs with it then....

jeez you're cynical - it happened in an informal setting and I seriously doubt it was strategically planned.

If it was she should fire whoever told her to do it.

Yes I am cynical of Hillary.  A good 40 percent of the voting public is probably cynical of Hillary.

I'm no fan of Hillary but let's go with your premise.

She DECIDED to cry and can turn the tears on AT WILL

What would her strategy be?  Do you think she thought it would help her?

Here's the video:  http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=3857124&page=1

doesn't look too bad - might even help her

supposedly 40% in NH are undecided btw Hillary and Obama

Personally - I wish Edwards would win

I don't think it's calculated and you may be right that she's not toast.  The video looks like geniune emotion to me.

Here's Bill last night saying he can't make her younger, taller or a man but she's the best person for the job.

I'm not sure what age or height has to do with it?

wth are you guys talking about head is right.

It was a sit down round table discussion, the room was 95% women whom were undecided voters.

After the meeting, women came up to Hillary and sympathized with her telling her they agree with her emotions on wanting to build a strong country.

The strongest motivation in human behavior is emotion. She had watery eyes for a purpose everyone can agree on, nothing what so ever showing weakness.

have you ever tried to cry?  It's pretty damn hard.  Isn't it possible that she's actually a human being with real emotions?

She was trying to garner sympathy and convince people that her love of America and her desire to lead is passionate that it brings her to tears.  I don't believe it.

everything she's done for the last 45 years has been calculated.

No way she "loses it" for the first time for an audience right after she lost the women vote in Iowa.

On a side note, if it is real, I'm not so sure I want such an emotionally unstable person running the show.

given the fact that none of us know anything about her other than what we see on TV I think it's kind of funny that we all (myself included) act like we know her.

Maybe they had a strategy meeting that morning and decided she should "act" choked up and maybe even put a thumbtack in her shoe so at the precise moment when she was asked the right question she could turn on the water works.

Or maybe she was just expressing a genuine feeling with an involuntary phsysical response.

I'm pulling for her...I'lll put her up against the Rep in the debate and see what will happen..what I don't want is that idiot Obama..he's snowed the under 30 voters and his rock star image(what ever that means) could carry him to the Whitehouse and then we get Jimmy Carter part 2. I know what i'll get with Hil and I think we can stand to have 4 years of her. Please excuse me while I go slam my head into a brick wall.

Straw, if actors can do it....she's extremely smart.

most actors can't do it and the ones that do have all kinds of strategies and get multiple takes.  I seriously doubt she spends her time trying to develop that skill.

anyone, my own personal opinion from viewing the video is that it's genuine.

Two parts in being able to make yourself cry, the past and present. Past emotional cues, combined with present set and setting let it roll.

Crying is never fake per se, always true emotion behind it...whatever that emotion might be???

I personally think it's easier for women to "try to cry" and succeed than men.

Isn't it possible that she's actually a human being with real emotions?

Yes, it is absolutely possible.

But I agree w/240:

On a side note, if it is real, I'm not so sure I want such an emotionally unstable person running the show.

She (sort of) cries in front of people and video cameras when she's tired from campaigning?  It makes you wonder how she may react in a disaster?

I still don't understand why anyone on the planet would characterize Dean's scream as a meltdown?

Context:  He was at a rally trying to charge up the crowd.

God forbid our Liberal Media addresses policy issues.  Screams are so much more fun.

I agree it wasn't a huge deal - and it rallied the hell out of that room -

But the media immediately decided he was done, and they replayed that clip until everyone else thought it too.

Likewise, the Hilary "Yesterday" cover on the Herald this AM, and the nonstop bashing she's gotten since Iowa... might be the same thing.  The media annointing Obama the winner or the party solidifying its base.  Guests this AM were talking about how desperate the CLinton campaign was.

I see things like this and sometimes, just sometimes, I question the efficacy of my brothers in the Liberal Media.  It's like they shoot themselves in the foot sometimes.

We are told what to think about a person.  Not whether his/her platform is viable, but listen to that scream, look at her cry, he's a mormon and he's a straight talker.

That's just not good enough.

How about putting real questions to Obama..question his policies...ask him why he;'s different. Ask him about his church..or why people don't remember events listed in his book...racism etc, like they really happened. I smell BS on this guy. I don't see why his opponents don't go after his voting record - including the votes he missed.

It's not that different from Hillary.  Maybe she doesn't want to draw attention to it but Edwards should be all over it.

Edwards (both he and his wife) has already commented on Hillarys alleged tears -Obama is essentially no comment so far

agreed - he was just trying to fire up his crowd

unfortunately the media framed it in a way that made him look nutty - at least to the gullible masses.

The Daily Show does this all the time.  You can splice together clips out of context and create virtually any "message" that you want.

OK, I just watched the clip and HH and I are in total 10000% agreement here.

I think that was totally 1000% calculated, and a solid hit to the bulleyes.

Clinton knew exactly who she was meeting with, and she mirrored their sentiments on a daily basis.

The premise may have been campaigning, but she took a slice out of their lives and made them totally identify her as one of them. She did something no other candidate in the race could ever do

Amazing how so many people know nothing about the man's mediocre haphazard rambling past life....if that is presidential footsteps then this country is on the brink. Unable to recall past conversations, a muslim father who Obama inherited reverse racism from, congregations with the muslim brotherhood in his early 20's....the list goes on people need to wake up. Bush did coke, ok but damn heroine.

I can't prove 'the cry' was intentional, but there's no question that she's easily the best politician (and I'm not saying that as a good thing) on the Democratic side.

Hillary 2008, I must admit, would be a lot easier to swallow if:

1) she hadn't been President already
2) I'd never heard of her
3) she didn't kill JFK, Jr

She seems a lot more human now than she did during her first reign as President, but I'll never trust her.
