No-one "deserves" to live under dictators my friend. But the culture and religious "rule set" that dominates that region lends itself to harsh rule that keeps the populace angry, ignorant and desperate. Ask yourself this: how much has the Arab culture really advanced over the last 50 years, or hell, the last 500 years? Not much. The rulers of these countries are more concerned with personal power/ego and wealth than the actual well being of their citizens. The Middle East is a disconnected part of the world. You cannot eliminate terrorism by force of arms alone. If force is used, it should be the weapon that blows the door open and lets in investment, ideas etc etc thus linking these parts of the world with ours. At least that's the idea....

Well, you actually answered my question: 1400 dispute/ civil war between Sunni and Shiite (whahabi's hate everyone/thing). How does it go on for so long and be so bloody? The "dispute" is propagated for all this time by the religious, tribal, ethnic leaders to keep their "people" ignorant and angry, a dangerous combination. Arabs in the M.E. live in absolute squaller in oil rich countries, yet they don't care. The rulers have kept them focused on hating the West and the Jews and very unconcerned with their own. It's a fabulous pressure release valve.
So, when you have a brutal dictator deposed and the farce is finally shattered it is probably quite hard to come to grips with it as a nation and get their act together. They still have generations of this ignorance drowning them. True education, connectedness with the outside world etc etc will help to erase that in the years ahead. But it will take a lot of years. If I still am missing your point, well, fuck you :'(

Very true. Although he is a really good speaker and very optimistic. ::) I keep trying to remind people that he was JUST elected to the Senate! Where he hasn't done a single thing. Hell, his record in the Illinois State Legislature is even more unimpressive. Add that to the fact that he really hasn't stated any SOLID policy objectives and he looks even more weak. But the man sure can speak.

We actually give TRIPLE that to arab states. afghanistan, iraq, sudan, egypt, and others.
So I don't care that we give Isr money. They're an insurance policy. If Russia and china get sneaky, Israel can hit them as well. They got our back, and I never complain about their influence because they're as loyal to us as we are to them.

Well, you have an incredibly corrupt, inefficient (School bus Ray Nagan?) and welfare ridden state such as Louisiana, headed by a man that was elected because because he was black. A police force that was ill trained and filled with political hirings and a population that was mired in poverty and so .................hooked on the governments welfare as to keep them voting for the same idiots that did nothing for them but hand them a govt. check every month, these welfare slaves didn't even know how to do anything for themselves. We have dumped over 130 billion dollars plus countless $$$ in public contributions and what has it solved? Nothing. The debit cards we handed these "people" were spent on TV's, beer and strip clubs...wow............. ..... Somewhere along the line people have to be able to take care of themselves to some extent and not look to the govt. to take care of every single thing. Other states got fucking hammered by Katrina too, and they seem to be rebuilding just fine without bitching and crying that no one is shoveling billions of taxpayer dollars unto their front porch.

I think when ROn Paul went on meet the press and said he'd end all aid to israel, he immediately went from being a "cute side story about all his money he's making" to a non-story. I used to see him mentioned repeatedly every day. After that sunday, it got awfully quiet lol...
