Title: Arnold Classic Expo: Broadcasting exclusivity???
Post by: Alex23 on January 10, 2008, 11:48:09 PM
What's with the bb.com "thing" having the "brodcasting exclusivity" at the Arnold expo?  >:(

I'm sitting on plenty of cash here and will "rent" any damn booth space, airtime or live streaming uplink I want... and If my hobby's to broadcast an amateur radio show called 'BIG NATION' and talk any kind of shit about any damn poor bodybuilding soul, I'll do it no matter what anybody says or trick into..  >:(  >:(

Stop trying to pull any kind of backstage 'strings'; you aint dealing with poor starving bodybuilders trying to "make it IU wise" >:(

First of all, what does Dan Solomon have to do with any of this?  Dan has his own radio show, with agreements with bb.com, Muscletech and others, so we all abide by them.  Since bb.com paid for the rights to broadcast and webcast the Arnold Classic and other shows, what is the problem?

Like many others, anyone is welcome to interview people if they want, take pictures, and have fun.  Why are you obssessed with Dan? Go ask the Arnold Classic production on it, and get the story.

Ron, I believe the animosity at Dan Solomon is misguided. The Arnold Classic production informed me that BIG NATION could not do a LIVE RADIO BROADCAST from the ARNOLD without the PERMISSION OF BODYBUILDING.COM. Although that seems a bit BIZARRE to me, it has absolutely nothing to do with Dan.

Ron, in all fairness, can you confirm with Bodybuilding.com that they DO NOT OBJECT to a LIVE INTERNET RADIO BROADCAST from the ARNOLD EXPO for all the FANS of BIG NATION??

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that there will be no attempt to prevent individuals from taking their camcorders inside to 'film the Expo', but bodybuilding.com will be the official 'broadcast home' of the event.

There are plenty of people who want to see the sights and sounds of the Expo, but for the most part, those who are interested will actually make the trip and pay their 10 bucks.

Oh, I thought their concern was the video.  My bad.

You're an attorney, so you know that you can do a streaming audio broadcast from anywhere you want, with the exception of musical performances, lectures, etc.

Tre,

In all fairness, that's pretty absurd. 98% of bodybuilding fans do not reside within 200 miles of Columbus and it's certainly not within most people's budgets to pay $1000 (not ten bucks as you put it) to wait on line to shake hands with some pros and get a few protein bars. Plus, factor in all the 14-18 year old fans still in school whose parents won't allow them to go and you've got plenty of people with valid reasons for not being able to attend.

Last year SPECIAL ED brought the Arnold Expo experience to the fans to get a glimpse of the Pros, Freaks, and Babes in action.

Over 750,000 views of my Arnold videos shows that plenty of people would prefer to stay home and catch the action on their computer.

Now that that's settled, when can we expect your call on BIG NATION to enlighten us on the current status of the NEW SPIKE TV show "PROS VERSUS SCHMOES"?

You want to do a LIVE broadcast. I think bb.com paid for the rights for live internet broadcast, either radio or video.  There is a difference. Get a room in the hotel next door, and set up a live 'internet' broadcasting.

Are you saying this is your demographic with Big Nation and your interviews about steroid dosages?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't your MD videos go up AFTER the Arnold was over by at least a week or more? That doesn't speak to whether or not people would want to stay home or not.

Sure it does. It's the reason people buy Girls Gone Wild videos. Saves us all a trip to Spring Break.

BTW, last I checked, you asking Trey Brewer if he "liked girls" played equally well on video a week later.

If I wanna spend 2k to rent the space to sell T shirt with my face on it and oh btw, stream some video with my own wireless uplink, who's gonna stop me?

You'd rather stay home and watch "Girls Gone Wild" then be in the middle of the action?

Sounds very flirtacious. :-X

Also sounds like someone is trying to protect their little "turf". Newsflash: there is no turf, no money in bodybuilding; I put my own personal assets in it for the fun of it and make nothing out of it.

Why cock block it then?

Who are we kidding? If you or I could get anywhere near "the middle of the action" we'd be living in South Padre Island and not Denver or Upstate New York!

Ah... the committee... each expo has its own rules and agreements.  If you try and put an adult XXX booth at the Arnold, they will stop you. If you try and put something non-related that wasnt agreed upon in your agreement, they will stop you.  Same with any expo around the country.

Alex,

Ron is correct.  I have nothing to do with the Arnold Classic.  The Arnold Classic is promoted by Jim Lorimer.  Mr. Lorimer has a deal in place with Bodybuilding.com that allows them (Bodybuilding.com) to have the rights to webcasts & broadcasts.  That deal has been in place for 2 years.  I have "nothing" to do with any of it.   On a personal note, I have no problem with you (or anyone else) getting a booth at the Arnold.  I've spoken to Jason (Special Ed) on several occasions.  He is well aware that I have no issues with Big Nation Radio....in fact, I think it's a great addition to the "Get Big" community.  -- The contracts that are in place between Bodybuilding.com and the Arnold Classic are FAR above me...and beyond my control.  -  I hope that clarifies things a bit.

Dan
