I will have to say Randy Couture. His 16-8 record isn't that great. ::)
-
Pretty much the only guy to truly beat Randy in the last five years is Chuck Liddell (that's not counting that fluke punch by Vitor that cut Randy's eyelid and resulted in a TKO). Nine of Randys' last eleven fights have been Championship fights, so it's not like he's fighting all these cans. I would say guys like Marcus Davis (he's on the top 10 list for beating a bunch one dimensional fighters), Gomi (who hasn't looked good in a fight in over a year, and is still ranked #1 in the LW div), Houston Alexander was proved to be overrated, Matt Serra (he's a helluva coach, and I was there when he won the belt, but I think there was a certain degree of luck involved in his win over GSP) and I still have my doubts about Ken-Flo and Forrest. Im sure more will come to mind.

Bas Rutten.

As much as i dont like ken flo, he is the real deal. I witnessed him tool everyone in my gym for 45 minutes. Not to say the guys at my gym are top notch but it really gives you an idea of what it means to be in the UFC and getting title fights. The skill gap is amazing.

Melvin Gallard
Yves Edwards
Forrest Griffin: who I like. He has been getting better.)
Houston Alexander: self evident. Literally a one hit wonder. All punches no ground game
Quinton Jackson: Who I also Like. His record is ok but he lost against a lot of tough competition. The difference is that he beat Liddell (handily) and Henderson. Tough guy no doubt.
Rameau Thierry Soloudjou:
Tim Sylvia: more than anything he is awkward to fight. Randy figured him out which should be the blue print on how to defeat Frankenstein.
Josh Koscheck: very one dimensional

Aint the best record in the world but as the old saying goes records are for DJs - Couture has had some great fights and has been a multiple weight champion. You can really fault that.
-
id put rashad evans on that list as well

Unless you run into Ice cold, and knees on the ground.

Igor was good. But Mark was a beast.

Then i'd add Michael Bisping to that list that has Rashad on it.
-
Rashad is most annoying with his shaky hands and dance routine. It changes all the time who would of thought cro cop would have been knocked the fuck out with a head kick from a bjj black belt! look at Rich Franklin good fighter before but now?? Silva smashed him twice really messed him up to. Good on them for getting in there and giving the fans some awesome viewing. What about Jardine? sure he beat chuck with his leg kick jab cross combo but he is hard to watch.

Matt Hughes? Are you serious? The only person to have really dominated Hughes is St Pierre and he will pretty much dominate anyone. As much as I think Hughes can be a pr*&k you can't really say he was overrated. He has wins over Frank Trigg, George St Pierre, BJ Penn, Carlos Newton, Sean Sherk, Royce Gracie but hey everyone is entitled to their opinion and I guess this is an opinion thread so rock on...

WHAT?!?! ??? ???

No one has held a title belt longer than Matt Hughes in the UFC he is hardly overrated. Boring? Yes. Overrated? No.

not really overated, but overhyped.think about everytime dana white is on tv saying that "matt hughes is the strongest" or"he is the greatest".i just think that he isnt that great compared to a few others, but he has the advantage of being very marketable.

Bas Rutten and Tito Ortiz

Vov ran over Kerr, each time they fought.

Bas Rutten and Tito Ortiz
I agree about Ortiz, he is way over rated. His punching power in comparison to other fighters is paltry. He was a guy who had a skill, take downs, at a time when other fighters had not developed an effective take down defense. Now that most fighters have worked on this he is no longer much of a threat to the light weight division. I don't think it says much that he has to wins over a geriatric Ken Shamrock.

tim sylvia

Part of me wants to say BJ PENN
He's had his share of losses, and with ALL the hype that he's the best p4p fighter, i think he is overrated.

I agree with you on the overhyped part. I mean there are definitely more exciting fighters out there. Not sure if Hughes is the strongest but he does have some freaky functional strength. I have seen him power his way out of some good submissions though.
-
all the tuf fighters 8)
-
I think Rashad Evans is vastley overrated and very 1 dimensional - ditto Josh Koshcheck however I have seen more advancement in his game than Evans.
I really dont enjoy watching those 2 fight in the same way I feel ill watching Tim Sylvia try to pass himself off as a credible opponant in UFC. The guy looks like fucking Lurch from the Addams Family only with more rigamortis.
