Title: best workout ipod system ? serious question
Post by: SirTraps on April 16, 2008, 08:08:00 PM
I still wear a Sony sports radio head set when i lift, i havent switched over to an ipod to listen to music while i work out.

What is the best system/ipod to buy ? i never liked the idea of lifting with that ban tied around my arm, does it get in the way ?

Im dead serious.    I also like that i can adjust my radio to sports radio or music whenever i feel like it.  It would be cool to download ac/dc or whatever the hell i want-commercial free though.

get a shuffle

its the smallest and the cheapest ipod

it clips on to your clothes, no need for an arm band, its very light

i just use mine for cardio though,  i seem to get a better workout without it

lol. funny story.   my sister lives in seattle, on capital hill, which is the gay district of the city. whever i go up to visit her, i always get a pass to the golds gym which is right down the street..      EVERY workout ie ever had there, that gym has been PACKED with fags. at least have of them will be blasting their ipods with soem kind of 80's dance tune and doing little fairy dances in between sets while checking themselves out in the mirror. that shit is fuckinig hilarious to see.

Gyms blasting Celine Dion music are gay, Ipods are a saviour. Nothing like blasting good old hardcore/punkrock into your skull while working out.

you would fucking know about the fags you easter bunny looking fuck.

gee, why would anyone want a screen so they can pick a song, or see what the fuck is going on.

get the shuffle like poor white trash, and spend the extra 50 bucks on 3ml's of sauce, real sound advice, as usual
from fucking dildo boy.

Get the nano man, it's small, battery lasts forever, and is affordable, with lots of support.
Wow.

I bought a Sandisk Clip at Best Buy a while ago. Almost as small as an iPod shuffle but it has a little screen. Plus it's got a clip on the back so you don't have to worry about having an armband or putting it in a pocket. I also got some JVC headphones that have a squishy thing around them that you stick in your ear. Sounds better than standard headphones and saves your hearing because you don't have to turn it up that loud.

just go and buy a 30gig ipod.

you can store enough music on it you won't have to fuck around with every week like the shuffle.

has tonnes of applications outside of the gym as well. an external hard drive for documents, alot of car decks now have usb ports that are ipod compatible.

2 gig and 4 gig are too small memory wise. spend the extra $ and get something with a good memory.

It's way too bulky for gym use, though. At least for me. I hate arm bands and that big thing in my pocket is just annoying. Not to mention I only have a 2g Clip right now and although I'm going to upgrade to the 4g, the 300 or so songs I have now are plenty. I can't imagine needing 30 gigs of music with me, I literally don't listen to that much. My music folder on my computer is only 12.

it really isn't that bad. like you said i'll just put it in my pocket or clip it. you wouldn't even know you have it on you.

for the extra $80-100 you get basically 10 times the memory of the nano.

however like you said if you don't need the memory, then the smaller nano might be better.

i guess it all depends on what you expect from your devise and the amount of music you plan on putting on it.

The shuffle is so overpriced for what you get, I mean you don't even get a screen just a little flash drive that can play music, and it cost what it costs because it has the apple name on it.  If you are cheap buy a small sandisk or other name brand player that is small like that, if you want a nice screen and great mp3 player go with the new ipod nano color screen.

Archos Gmini 202S

Period.

You can put 20 go of the most brutal old school thrash/death/doom metal ever on it, and it's sexy as hell and small, which are a plus.
No video/color/photo bullshit included but they're really not necessary at all.

i love it how people are rationalizing their choices of mp3 player in fear of the squad coming down on them for not being manly enough

you guys should be living in igloos and caves soon if this keeps up

just don't get a pink one guys you should be sweet.

I'd be afraid of breaking it, too. I'm tempted to pick up the iPod Classic to store all the music and movies I have, or maybe an 80g Zune, and then just take the little player to the gym. I've already broken one mp3 player in the gym when it fell out of my pocket and I dropped a dumbbell on it. Not a problem with it's a $40 Samsung piece of shit, but a $300 iPod? Yikes.

i had the same dilemma- dropping what is the equivalent to a $300 hard drive on the ground, losing my files, have to replace and reformat it. etc.

i bought an aluminum ipod case. only cost i think $30. very light. i have dropped it off my waistband onto the floor several times and the thing won't break. in fact i once dropped it onto the concrete outside the gym fumbling with my keys- the case buckled a bit, but the ipod went undamaged.

$30 well spent.
