I usually agree with you, but not on this one. He isn't holding water, its all fat. Clearly before anybody guess poses they pop a handful of diuretics and thats why he is showing abs because lack of water. put the 15 pounds of water back in and he is 18%+.

i watch all the MD tv videos. they talk about try nonstop and show everything. I follow his threads and his nutritionists threads. trey's lost a lot of weight FAST - and he's been dieting his ass off, to look as good as he does.

Trey is probably 12-14%. Nine weeks, he can be ready. The pics aren't great, and he might be a little behind, but he has a lot of resources and motivation behind him. He's not just some kid trying to find his way to get in shape. He has a magazine, a nutritionist, and whatever resources helping him out.
If he really went from 335 to 297 in less than 2 months, he can lose another 30 pounds in 2 months. This story will definitely be interesting though!

not enough to validate all that fat gain, there is no point looking like complete shit 90% of the year and calling it offseason, you can gain muscle at 10- 12 % BF :P

Me and arvilla had a big ol' debate about this. he think pros and top Bbers bulk - they should get that big. I disagreed.
I think in the end, trey could have gained the same muslce - or more, since he'll sacrifice muscle dropping 60+ pounds. Remember, trop's book said that the body is most anabolic in the 10-12% range - does that mean trey could have added more muscle by only gaining 30 instead of 70+?
I dunno. I'm no expert. You just don't see many success stories among guys that get that big. Trey will outmuscle everyone and will likely get a pro card, anyway.

I agree with you that his bodyfat is actually not all that high. I am at about 14% bodyfat right now, albeit at 158 pounds, and he looks to have about the same percentage as me.

I can't make a prediction. But there is no shame at all in taking more time to make the necessary improvements, and admitting it. The fans will admire him all the more for it. It isn't set in stone that he HAS to do Junior Nats. For all we know he still might.

He may be able to turn it around for the Jr.'s. He still has time and bbing drugs to work. He had to know that he was nowhere near in shape to guest pose. Even when he won the how in SoCal, he was not that impressive. He has great legs, but his upper body needs some work

BTW, James Laurinaitis looks more of a bodybuilder than Brewer does in these photos, has better arms, and overall I think any guy would rather have his physique than Brewer's.

Those are bold claims to make when considering the math. Could it be that you're taking into consideration what 20% bodyfat looks like on someone with a normal BMI?

I believe your claim of 265 was the day before his last show fully clothed and still hadn't pulled out his water. So that makes hime 245 on stage. No he doesn't have 70 pounds to lose, but he has 60; that makes him 250 for the show. 5 pound gain for that massive off-season, definately not worth it. :)

Trey is ambitious. Doing everything 200%. As a guy who also did the bulk and got fat - and loved the feeling of being so big all of a sudden even if it was fat - I totally understand what is in his head. You convince yourself that you're big as a house (compared to your old self) and you don't think about how much fat you're really gaining.
Awesome genes, and he did get fat in the offseason before, and got in great shape for the Excalibur with no problem.

His BF levels arn't THAT bad, he is young so the lack of maturity doesn't help and his upper body proportions arn't the greatest which hurt him as well.
I read somewhere he said his back hadn't been worked much so that it why it was weak at his last show, sorry looks even worse now so he's doing something wrong.

site injections in the old arms will clear that up, I don't think he has a problem with roids so he shouldn't really have issues with site injections.

I believe your claim of 265 was the day before his last show fully clothed and still hadn't pulled out his water. So that makes hime 245 on stage. No he doesn't have 70 pounds to lose, but he has 60; that makes him 250 for the show. 5 pound gain for that massive off-season, definately not worth it. :)

Trey is ambitious. Doing everything 200%. As a guy who also did the bulk and got fat - and loved the feeling of being so big all of a sudden even if it was fat - I totally understand what is in his head. You convince yourself that you're big as a house (compared to your old self) and you don't think about how much fat you're really gaining.
Awesome genes, and he did get fat in the offseason before, and got in great shape for the Excalibur with no problem.

I won't say anything bad about what you just said, clearly you don't know. My last show I lost 13 pounds in less then 24 hours and I last competed as a light heavy, nevermind a super heavy weight. BTW I also included clothe 3X sweat shirt and pants and shoes will easily do 8 pounds. I get beyond shredded with striated glutes when I compete so by all means criticize my approach.

Trey was more out of shape 9 weeks out before he won the Excalibur and look how he came in for that show.
