Title: 2 Different methods for fat loss: Energy balance Vs Morning cardio
Post by: Bobby on May 02, 2008, 06:20:35 AM
Energy balance: burn more calories than you consume in a 24 hour period.
example: no cardio, eat 2000cals a day. (maintenance cals needed 2500) = minus 500 a day

Vs

Morning cardio: cardio in a fasted state when the body is low/empty on carbs/glucose/insulin.
example: cardio, eat 2500cals a day. (maintenance cals needed with cardio 3000 (without cardio 2500cals)) = minus 500 a day

both = burning muscle.

Just workout hard and do your cardio. On non-working out days cut your carbs.

Eat chilis, drink green tea.

Intelligent nutrition timing is the key. When you need the calories, eat, if you don't need them, eat less.

you dont have to be burning muscle in either scenario. but bro, you left out  a third way....eat to maintanence calories...   even witth cardio you lose fat because of TEF ( fat used for digestion)

Are you speaking in some weird language other than English?  Because this statement makes absolutely ZERO sense!

the thermic effect of feedingg, hulk.   its the calories required for digestion.   protein yeilds about 20 %, carbs and fats about 4 %...but those are rough estimates.

say your body normally burns 2700 cals per day. you eat 2700 cals (the corresct cals ! )...well, you would  lose any fat from an energy defecit, but you would still have lost fat because it requires fat to digest all those calories.

You said "Maintenance Calories" which is the amount of calories you need to eat in order to neither gain or lose weight.  So by doing that, you're not going to gain or lose any weight.  And you said "TEF = fat used for digestion"?  That sounds retarded.  I'm assuming by TEF, you mean "Thermic Effect of Food".  But "Fat Used For Digestion" is quite mispoken.  You burn calories during digestion, you don't burn fat.

And you're way off with your "thermic affect" numbers...  You think 20% of whey protein calories are burned trying to digest it?  Try next to ZERO%!  A dense steak "might" be close to 20%.  Chicken would be less.  And Fish would be even less.  As for carbs, also depends on the type, but 4% would only apply to extremely easily digested carbs, like sugar and white bread.

LOL !

thermic effect of feeding is the correct term, bro

alomst 100% of the calories used during digestion come directly from stored body fat

Exactly... BTW morning cardio sucks... only rich people or unemployed people have the time to do it... :(

True, or you love to get up at 5 in the morning to do cardio, which is totally stupid because you will stop the fatburning your body does while you sleep.

Sleeping is the best fatburner, if you don't overdo it.  ;D

I think I have been overtraining the sleep diet myself? I figured I would burn more cals by sleeping than doing AM cardio. :-\

how do you calculate how much calories you need to lose weight, maintain etc.?

Even better:

Replace morning cardio with HIT cardio (12 minute intervals, 3 times each week) and do a slight calorie deficit. Lose 1 pound each week on this diet, and you'll lose fat without losing much muscle.

Unless you know what you're talking about, don't speak (type).
I'm up every day at 2:30am, and there are plenty of people that I know that get up at that hour, and a few hours later, for work or to workout.
If I had the choice I wouldn't be up that early, but I've worked out and gotten up at all hours of the day & night by choice to workout- not just necessity.

First, i don't care about how you treat me because your "advice" sucks.

Second, if you had good advice, i would respect you, no matter how you treat me.

You come about like some arrogant know-it-all-smartass, but reading your posts is like reading FLEX magazine on crack. You are in a state of trying everything without using your head too much.
Good for you (or not so good), but you should not be giving advice.

Hope this helps.
