only if you're trying to gain weight but if you're not..then don't worry about it. Just eat right and if you're hungry..that's your body telling you you need more in your mouth.

its adviseable to consume some slow digesting protein every three hours, regardless of "bulking", "cutting" or "maintaining".
it it abolutely necessary ? debateable

Simply reduce your portion sizes on clean foods. You'll be hungry...

I would still say eat irrespective of whether you're hungry or not, even when you're cutting.
The reason being is that the body thrives on regularity, and missing meals is like missing workouts. Your body won't thank you for it if you're leaving huge gaps in between meals - when you're hungry there's a tendency to overeat too and the body will just store any excess calories as fat, making it harder to get rid of fat in the first place.

Also, you SHOULD be hungry every 2.5-3 hours. I am dieting and can not go longer than 3 hours before feeling little woosy. Either your metabolism is not at that point yet or you need to adjust your meal portions. Ironically if you are not eating enough calories you could also not be hungry at the 3 hour mark as your body is in survival mode because it knows it is not getting food... Once you start eating more often, your body will demand to be fed often! DAMMIT :D

It helps keep the metabolism elevated
It keeps blood sugar levels stable
Helps to keep the waist smaller as long as meals are not huge
Aids in digestion ans absorption of nutrients
Keeps the body in a state of positive nitrogen balance assuming protein is eaten at each meal as it should be

i've found that eating vegetables like broccoli are very filling and curb my appetite for more than 3 hours

i bett youd look better if your started to make sure you got PROTEIN every three hours..and waited untill you were hungry to incorporate carbs/fats

i did the eat protein every 3 hours routine for years and it made no difference
i'm burning fat and maintaining muscle just as i did before

So, you have been doing a bodyfat test periodically to make sure you are not losing muscle?
That is the ultimate goal so if that is the case, good work.

I go buy the mirror and the tape measure
my waistline is getting smaller than it was this time last year when i cut and veins are bulging more
muscle doesn't come off that easily, magazines like to make you think that it does so you will buy the protein supplements advertised
also overbulked guys cut down to a certain weight and expected to be much more muscular and leaner, they thought a lot of their excess fat and water weight was muscle so they assume they lost muscle rather than admit that they were fat ::) ::)
as long as you continue to lift weights and eat a certain amount of protein you won't lose much if any muscle at all
