...According to him, he hasn't even considered dropping down a weight class like so many other fighters recently, and sees no reason to. "Until something happens, like say me getting beat up, then I'm not going to go down," explained Sanchez. "I know in my heart and in my mind that I have what it takes to beat (Georges) St. Pierre, (Matt) Hughes, B.J. (Penn); all those guys."
lol ::) ???

so just out of curiosity, what exactly is not humble about thinking you can beat the top tier guys in your division ?
he would'nt belong in the cage if he did'nt think he could beat anyone they put him in there with !

Way off base here. Overconfidence will kill a fighter Geo. Sanchez is obviously out leagued by these other fighters.... for him to dream otherwise is not good..

Yes and no. You have to have confidence. Especially in fighting but in most individual sports. I remember when I first saw this one guy on TV and he always won the Petaluma event. His name was Clay Rosencrans (?). He was very famous and awesome. But when I saw him I always thought I cold beat him. When we finally met up and I competed against him, I beat him. In fact we met up 3 times and beat him all three times. You have to instill in yourself that you can beat anybody. If you don't you are going to end up losing just from the fact you went in there thinking you are going to lose. Especially in fighting. Anyone can easily beat anyone. Luck is a big part of MMA. One lucky shot from anyone can knock you out. And there are times when thinking you can beat someone who obviously no matter what you do won't help. But as a fighter I would think no matter what you have to be very confident in yourself or you are beaten before going into the cage. On another note. I remember a few matches when I wasn't all that excited about a match but when I got up to the table I did my psyche job and I could see my opponents eyes showing he was not as confident as I thought and I beat him.
Now wouldn't this scare you ;D

Another perfect example is the past US Open. No way in hell did that guy ever think he would be in a final with Tiger Woods. Yet he was and he did awesome. You just never know what is going to happen.

what coltrane is trying to say (hypothetically) is basically.........if he did'nt think you could beat this Clay Rosecrans.........then you had no right saying you think you could !
that's pretty much what this thread amounts to

I don't he can either but there is a slight chance and him being cocky and positive and thinking this way only helps him. But the chances are slim
