Some great rope line video from Joe Biden's recent Ohio swing, where he was asked by an anti-pollution campaigner about clean coal -- a controversial approach in Democratic circles for which Obama has voiced support, particularly during the Kentucky primary.
Biden's apparent answer: He supports clean coal for China, but not for the United States.
"No coal plants here in America," he said. "Build them, if they're going to build them, over there. Make them clean."
"We’re not supporting clean coal," he said of himself and Obama. They do, on paper, support clean coal.
The answer seems to play into John McCain's case that Obama has been saying "no" to new sources of energy.
In the primary, Biden opposed Obama's push for clean coal, which is seen as a way of maintaining or expanding America's coal-burning power plants -- many of which are in rust belt swing states.
"I don't think there's much of a role for clean coal in energy independence, but I do think there's a significant role for clean coal in the bigger picture of climate change," he told Grist last year. "Clean-coal technology is not the route to go in the United States, because we have other, cleaner alternatives," he said, but added that America should push for a "fundamental change in technology" to clean up China's plants.
Biden also was not shy on his own clean energy credentials.
"The first guy to introduce a global warming bill was me 22 years ago. The first guy to support solar energy was me 20 years ago," he said, apparently referring to the 1986 Global Climate Protection.
Think Progress has some more context, and Jake Tapper reports that Obama this morning rebuked Biden on a separate issue, his quick opposition to a federal bailout.

And you are a liar and a tool, So what?
Coal must go, and it won't be painless. It should be spread over the next 20-30 years. And anyone who made a career out of coal made a serious mistake in foresight.
They should all go into business for themselves like you. ::)

I used his own statements and James quoted it. Btw I hope Obama targets your profession for bankruptcy and you suffer the same fate you wish on thousands of people working now.

Really? Obama said: " I promise to bankrupt the coal industry"?
Show me!
::)
look its just called progress. Coal is from the 1800's ::)
I feel bad for anyone who loses their jobs, but they had to know at some point its going to get phased out.
Just like GM right 33333?

That's an awesome leftist talking point. Get phased out and replaced with what, bright spot? This is the inherent problem with the Green Brigade. They think you can just cut consumption of products like oil by 20% and nothing will change as a result.
I'm starting to think everyone from California is a fucking retard.

Did he promise to bankrupt GM too 33333? ::)

Its a fucking fact. It's not a dam talking point. ::)
Coal is ancient form of energy that IS outdated.
This phasing out of coal shouldn't have to happen all at once. 20 to 30 years. It needs to replaced with Nuclear energy.
Bright spot? hahahaha

You sound like you're raging. I'll ask again, though. Phased out with WHAT?
Derp, let's just cut our energy consumption by 20% and not replace it with anything viable. That'll work. Really.
And California wonders why it's $25 billion in the hole. How's that whole "Let's go green" shit working out for you? Disastrously, that's for sure.
-
Huh? Watch the damn clip . If you cant understand his own words and actions - you really are beyond help.
I don't need to 33333. YOU CLAIMED HE PROMISED TO BANKRUPT THE COAL INDUSTRY.
Now fucking man up.

I am not a green shit supporter, dude. So stop trying to clump me up with them. California is in trouble because of alot of things including what you just said.
our energy consumption doesn't need to decrease, the energy needs to be replaced with nuclear energy.

Nuclear energy? Good luck hammering that through after Japan.
Didn't you know it's evil? Just ask the Germans who are closing all their nuke plants by 2020. ::)

Yes as well as SKYROCKET OUR ENERGY PRICES!

I know, it was a big blow to nuclear energy. No one has seem to question why the (normally very careful) idiots put a nuclear facility next to the ocean in a tsunami area.
But bottom line, all that other shit, hydro, solar, wind, will not replace it. Coal is bad, old and evil.
-
Yes as well as SKYROCKET OUR ENERGY PRICES!
that's not even accurately what he said. ::)
Even if he just said that, that is far away from saying: I promise to bankrupt the coal industry.
do you need to go back to school or something?

So let me understand our esteemed moderators braindead point of view-- Anyone who invested in coal and coal workers are just plain out of luck-- they should move on to other things; possibly unemployment and bankruptcy. The energy source for 40% of the world is going to be "phased out" in 25 years time. The 27 states in this country that produce coal and depend on coal as an important part of their economy should just grin and bear it.
Let's go further-- The fact that the United States produces 20% of the world's coal supply (second only to China)= Not important
The fact that the coal preserves in THE UNITED STATES ALONE contain more energy than the world's oil reserves combined= Not important
The fact that at current consumption rates, there is enough coal in this country to provide energy for 250+ years= Irrelevant
And so-- your brilliant plan is to switch to Nuclear power; An industry so heavily regulated, stigmatized and demonized by the leftist establishment that it takes on average 25 years to build a single plant ( excluding the multitude of lawsuits, protests and congressional hearings).
I never said you were an idiot. I just said your point of view was braindead. It's not the same thing!
-
The best part is that Team Obama and the morons still supporting him wonder why busnesses, investors, et al are sitting on the sidelines and refuse to hire anyone and expand!

No George, even through all your stupid sarcasm (which is about 90% of what you post along with insults) you don't understand my point of view. ::) Which is par for the course for you because your main point of posting seems to be insulting anyone who doesn't exactly agree with you. What an asshole.
There some 600 coal power plants in the USA. Coal needs to be phased out PERIOD. Not right this second, not in the next year, but in the next 20-30 years. And as we have ridiculous restrictions on building new nuclear power plants those need to end right now. Nuclear energy is far better, safer and cleaner.
And sure lets sell coal to who ever buys its.

so - in th meantime while we are building no new nuke plants we shut down the coals plants? Fucking brilliant as Obama wants people more reliant on electric cars. fucking brilliant. Only a communist agitator and traitorous marxist sleeper cell terrorist like Obamacould cme up with something so brilliant.

Coal does not need to be phased out. Think about what you just said! If America has more coal power than the entire worlds oil reserves combined, why the fuck would we want to let that go to waste?! Its the same stupid argument I hear from people trumpeting the end of gasoline. The entire world (minus the sissy's in Europe) is bending over backwards for oil exploration to grow their nation's economy while we sit on our asses and let tons of natural resources sit in the ground. Meanwhile, we would rather pay Brazil to conduct offshore drilling, let China suck up the planets petrol and sit idly by without lifting a finger to build more nuclear power plants. What is America actively doing during the biggest economic downturn in 80 years? Bribing people to buy electric cars that don't work, subsidizing ethanol and pushing a "green" agenda that is likely to grow the economy when I crap unicorns.
Nuclear power cannot and will not be a viable alternative until the regulatory red tape is removed ( Which will never happen with Obama at the helm or when the EPA/ NRC have as much power as they do). What you fail to acknowledge is that Obama and his cronies are actively committed to harming this country. They want sky high gas prices, economic unrest and high unemployment. The goal is to have everyone dependent on government.
In the meanwhile, we cannot keep shooting ourselves in the foot on purpose. You say we agree on 90% of this issue? You're dead wrong. The only thing we agree on is more nuclear power, which is nice-- but will do nothing in the short term.
-

Where did I say we agree on 90% of this issue? On that post the only time i used "90%" is in reference to your constant sarcasm and insults.
Coal needs to be phased out. We can sell it to the rest of the world, but it is an outdated form of energy that pollutes, kills, etc.
I am not talking about off shore drilling, gas or what ever you are trying to lump me into including the "green agenda". ::)
So drop your stupid act for a moment.
Nuclear energy is best, now and in the future.
Bush eased some regulations, hopefully the next pres will do more.

Well, you mostly agree with me. ::)
Explain to me why we should flush money down the toilet? The rest of the world will continue to use it and we are going to stop because of "global warming"? Your nuclear idea is completely unrealistic in the short term. People need jobs and cheap energy now. And even if the next President is 100% pro Nuclear, the regulatory agencies in place that keep a tight grip on the Nuclear industry+ the snail's pace of the legal system will ensure that the process of building a nuclear plant remains slow and stagnant.

I mostly agree with you followed by an eye roll? WTF is that supposed to mean? You said, I said we agree 90%. Show me where i said that. If i did then we can talk about it.
Let the rest of the world use it. We can be the biggest supplier. I don't care. When did i bring up global warming? I don't believe in global warming, i believe in global cooling. :D
Coal is bad. Coal is outdated. The sooner coal is gone, the sooner chains on nuclear energy will be loosen. Like i said i don't know if what Obama is doing is best or for the reasons he should be doing it. But coal must go in the next quarter century.
