Title: Start of the off-season program.
Post by: King Kamali on September 25, 2008, 07:39:05 PM
Here we go folks. I took a couple weeks off and now I'm back into the gym to start my off-season program. I followed the 3 days on 1 day off method and I will stay with this program for the next few months... (3 days of strict competition dieting/1 day of cheating on the first meal and last meal of the day). This will keep me within 15 - 20 pounds of competition weight and allow me to eat what I want a couple times per week. I want to stay within striking distance (8 weeks out) of any 2009 IFBB show. I am currently 282 pounds and I will stay right here where I should be throughout this whole process. Anything over 291 pounds and I start to feel it in the heart.. No thanks. I have stayed on the "Magic Powder" and God Damn does it ever show. I am staying hard as a rock and growing like a weed at the same time. The pumps are unmatched and now add the growth factors and you are looking at the future.. Amazing. Anyway, Jim you are a mad scientist and I love you like a brother.. Thanks for everything and here we go with the off-season BLAST.. Let's shock the world.

You look  like you are abot to compete again!
I have total respect for ANYONE who can stay on the diet year  round.  That takes a mental strength very few have and NO ONE who has not had to diet hard and compete will ever truly understand that.  On your strict days are your calories the same as they were precontest or have you increased the volume of food you are eating?
In my offeason between my qualifier and the final i stuck to the exact same foods but increaced the ratios.  Made the start of actual dieting a lot less of a mental shock, but it's still tough though!
Much respect,
Max.

I remember the first Flex magazine I bought was around '99, and King was all over the magazine. I would say over 2/3rds of the bodybuilders in there don't even compete anymore.

King is still going strong and silencing all the haters, good for him.

flexingtonsteele: Just being smart right now. I'm 36 and the things I could get away with when I was 25 are long gone. Looking at the physique I know I can stand next to anyone in the world and hold my own. 10% more improvements and 5% more conditioning and I will have my first pro win and do serious damage at the Arnold Classic. 280 is the magic number.

Max: Thanks brother.. yes it's tougher but the suffering is cut in half when it comes to shredding up.

Go 4 It:  On my strict days: 6 meals (solid) 2 meals (shakes). Chicken, white fish, turkey, and 93% lean ground beef w/asparagus and or broccoli. On cheat days I have anything I want for my first and last meals of the day and strict for the remaining. 2 gallons of spring water daily.. That's it.

polychronopolous: I love the sport and I lift for me and not for "them".. That's why I'm still rocking the house.

BigAnt:  I would have agreed with you 5 years a go but now I just can't get back to 300 pounds again.. Too much stress.. Plus, Since the Ironman Pro, something has changed with my body chemistry. Jim's diet and "supplement" program keeps me hard and vascular all year around. Dropped the carbs and added in fats.. It works for me. Thanks for the props.. Talk to Jim about the Magic Powder.. You would be a great asset for the powder once you try it and give your approval.. It's fucking amazing.

I wouldn't say ripped but for 281 pounds looking the best I have ever looked. Really not that difficult if one follows the 3 days on 1 day off program that I have talked about. Plus, the junk food tastes better when you don't eat it all the time.

King, how is the condition now that you are a few weeks past the contest?  Are you maintaining, is it slowly slipping?  Would you compare yourself to 4-6-8-10 weeks out??
Could you outline basic things like if you are hyper sensitive to carbs ( I find i get this way when on low carbs pre contest), or is the cheat day on the 3rd day lowering your sensitivity?
Are you still going zero carbs on strict days?
How much water are you taking in compared to pre-contest?
How is your performance in the gym?
Are you still able to make gains considering you are on a defecit most of the time?
Will you stay on this programme when taking time "off"?
How are you mentally?  Is staying on this diet taking it's toll?  How is it effecting general life, doing paperwork etc etc.

Cheers King.
