Dude, for the record.......I don't like MMA. I was invited to see how everything worked before a fight from a mental standpoint. I've watched on TV, pulled up video from youtube and have been givin film of his and Dave's fights so I study the mechanics, movements and conditioning. Personally, I have a hard time figuring out why these guys want to beat the holy shit out of each other for any amount of money. But the MMA training is fun to learn but learning how these guys think scares the hell out of me. You seriously have to have a loose screw to do this stuff.
I've tapped into a new market and I'm running with it.

At the boxing gym I trained at I remember this one ex pro used to spar for the fuck of it every day. When the rounds were up he was usually slobbering and slurring his words. Like he was drunk. It's sad man. I can't imagine being that desperate for cash.

Rampage said it best when commentating for Pride. He said that because of the baby gloves worn, a punch to the head will result in a KO much easier than with 15 oz gloves such as in boxing. It SAVES the fighter from repeated blows to the head.

Too sloppy to be a fix. That right jab landed directly on Kimbos chin. which as we could see, is very weak. But that guy that whooped him was swinging wildly and missed 3/4's of his punches, but Kimbo did nothing to defend himself, he just layed there with his arms up in the air getting punched in the face.

In my opinion women shouldn't be in MMA it's a marketing angle to try and give the fans something their competitive don't offer and try and broaden their audience but no one cares , most women don't care about fighting and I thought the fight sucked and I gave it a chance my prediction is they'll fade it away out of lack of interest and a quality field

If anyone can produce photo evidence that Kimbo was knocked down from a punch, i would love to see it.

not really, if Kimbo would have gotten back up he would have been able to fight with that guy, it was a mistake for him to try to shoot in on him and get him on the ground so soon and the guy was expecting it, the kid was basically fighting scared and fighting on adrenaline and if the pusssy ref would have given Kimbo a chance he would have gotten back up, it was stopped too early.

he did get hit above the guy when he tried to shoot in on the kid, i paused it and watched it in slow mo on my DVR and he did get hit with a very good punch but Kimbo definitely could have gone on to fight, the ref stopped it way too soon.

just that one punch when he tried to take the guy down, it was stupid for him to try to shoot in on him so soon, he should have stood up and threw punches with him first and used that power he's known for, he'd have knocked that kid out quick like that.

the punch was to his head when he tried to shoot in on him and it landed clean, it was a good punch but it was nothing that he couldn't have recovered from, these CBS televised EliteXC events are way too closely reffed and these guys stop these fights too soon, that's why EliteXC is in trouble, you have to give the fans what they want to see, it would have been an exciting fight if the ref would have let kimbo get up and keep going.

Did you guys watch the fight. Kimbo eye was cut and swelling really bad. He also grabbed the refs legs and was trying to take down the ref cause he didn't ow where he was. I think the ref should have let it go just in case Kimbo could have got up or at least let the guy beat the shit out of Kimbo more. But Kimbos defense on the ground sucks big time.

Before becoming a TUFF contestant, this Petruzzi guy was a national kumite champion, and a K-1 competitor.
Petruzzi is a skilled striker, but a sub-par Mixed Martial Artist.
If you look at his MMA record, you can see that he hasn't fought top level competition;
however, the guys he has fought in mma, only defeated him by submission.
The match makers at Elite probably didn't know about his karate and kickboxing background,
and thought they were feeding a lame TUFF reject to their money man.
Stylistically, it was a bad match-up for Kimbo.
Both fighters have limited ground skills, but Petruzzi has better standup = victory for "The Silverback"
As for the punch itself, well, Kimbo actually charged into it.
There were two factors at play: Kimbo's own momentum, and his unawareness.
He couldn't brace for it because he didn't see it coming like his youtube videos.
Scarcely anyone believes it was a fix; shit, the announcers were making all kinds of excuses for Kimbo.
"He was training specifically for Shamrock etc." lol. By all accounts, Petruzzi took this fight with 6 days notice.

Calling someone a K1 level striker is a stretch. His big claim to fame was beating Dan Severn. He got DESTROYED by Wilson Gouveia, smashed by Hamill. Prior to that, he only fought on small regional shows. He was a guy brought in to showcase Elite's poster boy who threw a monkey wrench into the equation. He is a draw simply from all the viral marketing his management put on via the web. Has anyone confirmed that Iceberg will be making large deposits on Monday? ;)

Kimbo lost to a fighter who did not even make it through the TUF show. Big difference. I am definitely not a Kimbo hater, I mean hey if someone wanted to hype me up and pay me insane money I would be on board for that to but lets get serious here. Does anyone still believe that Kimbo can hang with any of the HW top 10? You guys are right he will probably be back and he should fight again. from a business pov I expect elite to take him off headliners and pit him against "lesser" comp. Only problem is his skill set is so limited that even "lesser" comp could be a handfull for him.
ps. Brett Rogers (the guy that called out kimbo after his last fight) Ko'd that same guy kimbo fought in 1 rd.
like I said in another post, kimbo would have been an idiot to NOT take all this fame, $$$, hype..etc...BUT can his skill set vs lower comp keep him around for elite to continue marketing him/get their $$$ worth invested in him is now the question.
I predict he will have to fight sub level comp and get a win streak to salvage they "hype" or just phase him out slowly.
