Title: Pimples.... help!
Post by: 240 is Back on October 22, 2008, 10:59:36 AM
As you may know, about 3 weeks ago I stopped spending a ton of time arguing politics, and started focusing upon working out.  I've been training about an hour each day, 5 days per week.  I've also been doing cardio 4 times per week.  My protein has increased to about 300 to 350 grams.

I'm getting a lot of acne suddenly.

I had bad acne as a kid, when I was a wrestler and worked out 4-6 days per week.  I stopped working out at 19 or 20, and was fine for a long time.  Zero pimples for about a decade.  Suddenly, I'm working out every day consistently, and it's coming back just like it did when I was 16.

What can I do to solve this?  mostly back and shoulders, but some on face and scalp as well.  I thought it might have been an allergic reaction to something, but it came like clockwork with the nonstop working out (i used to train 3 days per week and no cardio).  I shower immediately after working out, and in the morning and night.  It doesn't seem like a cleanliness thing - skin just keeps producing oil all of a sudden.  Help!

Get an anti biotic such as augmentin 850mg and order it online if you have too 2x per day.
Its a broad spectrum antibiotic that will kill essentially everything, including intestinal bacteria (good)
That you will replace later with yoghurt.
It will be gone.  The  thing is this as well, once it is gone, take a milder antibiotic
such as tetracycline 250mg 2x a day to keep that bacteria dead.  Then try 1 a day
then none.

Do NOT ENGAGE IN ACCUTANE.   Only as a last resort.

It's prob just from your body chemical levels changing.  I know for myself large amouts of hard exercising causes a drop on testosterone so you body is always changing depending on what you are doing, it might take a few weeks for your body to get used to your new system.
Also, if you getting a lot on your back area it could be from laying on a bench, maybe its not you thats dirty but the benches and its rubbing shit into you skin.

Just a thought.

i've actually heard this really works.  i'm also guessing that your body's just responding to a natural increase in testosterone, and it'll go away fairly soon.

Just curious 240, why are you eating anywhere NEAR that much protein? You are natural I assume? Under the BEST possible circumstances, you can maybe gain 3-5 lbs of 100% pure muscle in a year, and at least give your body a break. Excess "anything" (fat, protein, carbs) will result in fat gain. Your body doesnt just 'get rid' of the extra calories...

I used to do that also, eat about 300g's a day. How is your carb intake? Id recommend a much higher ratio of carbs and fats, if not for anything else but energy.

There is a great article ill try to find for you, it explains "why" excess protein is not worth it.

get a haircut
change your bed linens, especially pillowcases, at least twice a week
try a stronger soap
go to a tanning bed (seriously this one probably works best)

as a last resort use accutane but only use half a dose, shit is very strong

yea, just "throw" that accutane in there  ::)

Unless he suffers from extreme acne, i wouldnt recommend anybody touch that. Serious research should be done beforehand. I was going to use it bc i had a "few pimples", but thankfully my dermatologist talked me out of it

PCT sucks man, just give it time.  ;D

Spend some $ on acne washes and creams.  Overload swears by Benadryl 25mg/day, and someone posted a related study.  Don't take any crazy drugs that will fuck up the rest of you.  ::)  Get your old lady to pop the ones you can't reach.  Ahhh, romance.

I'm natural.  I just build a big pile of meat on the plate, six times a day, about 50 grams per serving.

hey, that's funny... last night I did pop 2 benadryl (50 mg total) and the big ass zit on my face went down about 50% overnight.  being the little bitch that I am, panicking over everything, I thought maybe I was having an allergic reaction to something.

And you call yourself natural.

There's a thread on the S&H board with the study, few weeks old now I think.

The cream that you're supposed to dab onto individual zits works well for me, but I spread it straight across the affected area with a drop of water on my fingertips after a shower, 2x a day.

I've personally used this, just 1 tab a night is fine, after about a week or two your acne should be totally cleared up.

I used to have that problem and changed soaps and started using lotion.

I use the Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap (since it is unscented) and Suave Lotion. Get them both at Target (cheap).

The lotion stops your skin from producing all of the extra oil to keep it mosturized.

I have not had a problem since I started using this combination years ago.

Try an antibiotic as I said.

I wonder if applying very hot water/towel to the pimple would replicate the heating effect of the Zeno?

It will keep the gun powder from your Glock from getting into your pores ;D

maybe 10 small ones, distributed on back and shuolders, where i normally have zero.  Very small, but I want to nip them now, before it gets bad.  only 3 on face, but 1 is brutal.

Some great advice here, much appreciated!

I'm trying to grow.  About 50 grams per meal - a big pile of meat.   Whey meals are two scoops - so maybe that's only 42 grams on those meals.

how many calories are you getting in your diet bro? cuz 350 grams is 3 times what I get in protein in a day :o
remember, your body only uses a certain amount of protein, after that, you pee it out or it's saved as bodyfat
consuming excess protein won't make you grow faster
it takes time to put on muscle  ;)
this is why guys lift weights for 2 weeks thinking they are gonna get huge, then give up

im glad to hear your finally eating like a man and taking this seriously ! give it some time, you will not be dissapointed with your decision to eat more protein.

for your acne, try some benadryl at night. 25mg diphenhydramine.  this came from Overload, and it works really well. also, try to find saome 'cetaphil' cleanser. its amazing stuff and really helps the pores but doesnt irritate them either. most of the over the coutner stuff is counter productive and irritates yoru skin more than ithelps.

in all seriousness I don't see ANY benefit from consuming over 150 grams for ANYBODY
you're acne is probably from the over consumption of protein
your body can't handle that much
cut your protein to 100 grams and see what happens
that's all you need

No cycle for me.  i'd go to a doc and get a script if I wanted to go that route, and I'd be using a gimmic to ask that Q if that were the case.  Once I post new pics, you'll see I'm still very natural, albeit a bit improved, hopefully.

Just trying to figure out what specific factor changed in the last 3 weeks to cause this to happen all of a sudden.  It's nothing major, but I want to stop it while it's a small problem.

the body uses protein for more than just to build muscle. not only that, but your body has a naturally occuring process of protein breakdown/protein synthesis. sedentary individuals should consume about 1.5-2 g per kg of lean bodyweight per day just to maintain optimal health.

hey 240
i find when i raise my protein i break out too

try to watch the amount and type of carbs in your diet-if u eat a lot of carbs that will lead to large insulin release which will cause your glands to secrete and pimples will form

if youre not already begin taking essential fatty acids...3000 mg fish oil 3X a day and 1300mg evening primrose oil 2x a day-lots of times if your omega ratios are off pimples will occur

try to avoid sugars high gi carbs canola oil sushi seaweed and vegetable oils-i find those really trigger acne for me

also i really advise u to get
PERSA GEL BENZOIL PEROXIDE CREAM AND PURPOSE BAR SOAP-WASH YOUR FACE WITH THE SOAP IN MORNING AND BEFORE BED AND APPLY TONS OF THE BENZOIL PEROXIDE ON YOUR FACE BEFORE BED AND LEAVE ON OVERNIGHT
IN THE SHOWER BEFORE GETTING OUT TURN THE WATER TO SCALDING HOT, THEN FREEZING COLD, AND REPEAT CYCLE FEW TIMES...THAT WILL HELP BLOOD FLOW IN FACE

also try to increase the amount of good fats in your diet-cashews salmon omega 3 eggs yolks

BOTTOM LINE IS THAT ACNE IS RELATED TO INSULIN IN YOUR DIET---CARBS AND SUGARS
CONTROL INSULIN AND U WILL CONTROL YOUR ACNE
ONE OF THE REASONS I LOVE DAVE PALUMBOS DIET FOR CUTTING IS THAT IT MAKES INSULIN DORMANT AND ACNE CLEARS RIGHT UP

Today I spent 90 minutes in the sun, used a little neosporin to fix the cut skin (I tried to pop it, but it is still below the skin).  It's about 1/3 of the size it was 2 days ago, and about to break the skin so I can finally break this bitch.

I'm going to keep on the benadryl, and really start getting more sun.  Thanks a ton.

AXA is lean, but it's hard to not be lean when you only weigh 200lbs.

It's amazing to me that AXA could get a camera capable of taking clear pics of him, until he had to actually photograph the tape on his arm......then it was a peice of shit.... ;)

Still waiting for that clear picture, AXA.

if you pop zits, youll get more if you do even if you're clean about it.
be careful not to go overboard with the anti acne stuff or youll irritate your skin and be even worse off.

A warm (not scalding hot) compress will draw it to the surface, but seriously.... try to refrain from "popping" it. Let it come to the surface and it will likely break open on it's own depending on what type of pimple it is.

that photo was not gyno in that picture I was 14% bodyfat
my body stores a little fat around my pecs, which are gone once I get lower in bodyfat
not gyno, and I'm sure I'm not the only guy who stores some fat on his chest
in no other photos can you see it
it is only in that particular angle
here is a photo see...no gyno
thanks other wise though  :)

I can clearly see gyno in that pic, I'm sure I won't be the only one to point it out.

I wonder if applying very hot water/towel to the pimple would replicate the heating effect of the Zeno?

Its worth a try.  Personally, I'm the type of person that would spring for something like the Zeno purely out of impatience.  Also, my sister has a large pimple fixed by a similar device used by her dermatologist, so I'm kind of giving it the benefit of the doubt.

Just to move away from the topic of AXA’s nipples…

Acne is a result of bacteria.
Regular soaps will clean dirt from the skin, but you need something medicated to fight the bacteria.

NaturalWonder mentioned Benzoyl Peroxide soaps.
Salicylic Acid is the other big OTC acne fighting cleanser.
Both work for me, although I much prefer the BP in terms of effectiveness.

Stiefel Labs makes the PanOxyl Bar – a body acne bar soap with 10% BP concentration. Good stuff.

ProActiv and its “generic cousin,” AcneFree, both are liquid face cleansers containing a lower, but still effective dose of BP. I’d rate their results about equal.
You can also purchase complimentary products from both companies including a leave-on lotion that dries clear.
For bedtime, you can use a much stronger lotion made by store brands like American Fare, but most dry white and chalky.

Start out small with the above products, as the peroxide will dry out your skin. You can always increase amounts and frequency.

in people with normal skin who dont regularly get accne, the OTC soaps that contain benzyl and salicylic acid work good. for people who have sensitive skin and regularly get acne, those OTC meds will almost always make the acne worse by irritating the sensitive. skin. im a person who normally gets acne, very sensitive skin, and for me the OTC are all horibble. Cetaphil daily cleanser is completely irritant free and very very healthy for your pores. you literally can not over do it with cetaphil..(i wash my face three times a day with the stuff and my skin is the most sensitive i think ive ever seen..). before my face was always either really dry with pimples, or really red and oily with pimples, depending on what i was using OTC. now with cetaphil my face has a much nicer tone, never gets red, never gets dry, and very very rarely do i get any pimples.

Thanks, Dizzy.

OMT - Does it help reduce oil formation between washings?
I've tried products that are great at removing oil, but a new "slick" forms within an hour.

Where do you buy this stuff (if you don't mind me asking)?

yes, it does, very well !

in fact im using test , and was using dbol with it, and even using those AAS (which normally make you produce oil like a motha fucka) my skin was never too oily or too dry.  for me personally, the product is a miracle.  i think i bought mine at wal mart..its been about two months and im still using the same bottle.

im glad to hear your finally eating like a man and taking this seriously ! give it some time, you will not be dissapointed with your decision to eat more protein.

for your acne, try some benadryl at night.
Garbage!! Need to get a Quality cleanser, toner, exfoliator and mask to do twice a week, id suggest Kiehls.

haha ok mr.proactive , get that recommendation straight out of your little pamphlet they send you with your three piece system ?  ;D

honestly ive been to a dozen facialists and three different dermotoligists, tried everythin underthe sun and done two runs of accutane.  cetaphil daily cleanser is what ive came to aafter all that, and it works amazingly well for me. and its what is recommended by dermatoligists for keeping healthy pores.

Help!

Your problem is kind of unusual, but I can see several plausible explanations for it:

  - Your resuming of exercise might have triggered increased testosterone level, which stimulated and increase in the production of oil from your sebaceous glands.

  - Conversely, the increase in exercise might have boosted cortisol and other coticosteroids excessively, putting you in a state of stress that resulted in epidermial eruptions.

  - Maybe the increase in protein intake has caused an increase in toxic metabolites from protein, like ammonia and uric acid, which has overwhelmed your body's elimination capacity and forced it to eliminate them by whatever means necessary, making it go out from your skin.

  - Maybe you have been shaving more recently or with duller blades, which is irritating your skin and leading it to have allergic reactions.

In any case, the best way to deal with your acne is by relying more on protein powders which get in an out of your system more readily, thus generating less toxic byproducts from metabolization, and to increase your intake of fiber which helps the protein and the cabohydrates pass though the gut faster and thus avoid being fermented by bacteria which causes constipation and skin eruptions. Two cups of vegetable juice a day will certainly improve your skin. You should complement that by washing your face 3 times a week with liquid soap. Don't overdo it otherwise you will dry up your skin and end up ageing the skin of your face faster. A last resort would be getting a prescription for Accutane, but that should truly be a last resort for obvious reasons.

Are we talking about little pimples from blocked pores, or big ass inflamed ones?

I don't get the big ass inflamed acne, but to prevent little pimples from blocked pores I like hot baths with several drops of lavender oil, and lightly exfoliating with a microdermabrasion cloth.  That sounded so gay hahaha.  But its good.
