My thoughts are that to fight for a belt, you must have fought your way to that spot. But looking at the division, and his defeat of Herring, there really isn't anyone for him to have an interesting fight with. Lesnar has made a good name for himself throughout his lifetime. He earned that. Let's face it, he is great for the sport. All things considered, he may not deserve a title shot, but he has earned it in a way. He is a big name, he has done his time. When you can sell major PPV's, and bring major revenue to your sport/UFC , I think most of the fellow fighters understand. The more popular you are, the better treatment you get. After all, people are paying to be entertained.

No, I don't think he's earned the shot, but if the UFC is going to give him one, why not take advantage of the situation?
Worst case scenario, Brock loses......no big deal, he loses to the champ no shame in that.
Best case, he wins the heavyweight title.
Randy on the other hand, why would he take this fight?
He loses and he's lost to a guy with 1 victory in UFC, some may consider him washed up after that.
He wins and who cares? He beat a guy with a 1-1 record. ::)
Randy has everything to lose and nothing to gain IMO.

The build up to his 3 deal contract is trying to set up the fight with Fedor ;)
win or lose thats what's at stake ;D
