Are their any contests in the works, bench, squat, dead anything???
-
In short, no.
The last one we had there was trouble with some of the shipping of prizes and I just dont want to promise things that I cant personally deliver.
Chris Mason has been an awesome supporter of our little contests here though! Im sure he would be happy to participate as long as all the details are in line.
I guess the next one would be a squat contest. Only thing is that the depth would have to be WELL below parallel so that camera angles dont come into play too much. Its really very hard to judge video of squats and I see that as the only option.
-
man id get killed in a squat contest but id still enter...id help out with the contest if needed, shipping, organizing etc...these contests are pretty cool they let you compete and get to know the other getbiggers a little.
-
the hell with the prizes lets just have a contest to have one.
-
lol im down but i dont think we would have as much participation if we didnt have prizes.
-
I agree, lets just have a competition.
And squat is fine with me, although I'd preferred another deadlift competition. 8)
I have no problem with people using the monolift or even if there's a suited competition, if someone wants to use canvas or multiply suits and extra long wraps.
Just as long as the squat is USPF/USAPL/IPF depth.
That's the only thing I wish for, real solid squat depth.

most of us dont go to the gym for prizes, we just lift because we love to so whats the big deal well just tape it
-

I agree but there would only be 4 of us probably.
Me

Wicked

maybe J Pegg
maybe mctones
If everyone is in agreement then lets do this! Wicked? J Pegg? Everyone?
IM IN!

im down my squats suck but ill bust a gut trying
-
yeah i let the ball drop on the apt stuff.... i'd put in an order and the prizes requested would either be out of stock this time or then the next group would be out of stock and i could never get them all shipped in at once. I'm trying another order this saturday in hopes to get it all in. I'm negating my own sponsored gear for the spring time to cover everyone's prizes since they were promised.
and i fucking HATE squats.. I'd do them but c'mon HAHA
how about a 60% of your bodyweight push press for reps?

you appear to be forgetting someone.
someone who won the bench press competition and entered the non-PL board deadlift one.
someone who probably would enter the squat competition even though his videos have shown exactly what he's capable of.
you know who i'm referring to? >:(

lol id do that it would only be like 120 for me but my shoulders fugged up so probably would be good.
-
i doesnt have to be for max weight, we could do something like the bench for reps (ex. 135,225,315) so anyone could get in it, not just the real strong. I just makes going to the gym more fun if you have a direct goal in mind.
-
Another idea is, over at bb.com they have a race to dead 500 and another to dead 700 we could do something like that?

very true the bench press challenge got my bench up pretty good and i looked forward to every chest day

i like that idea but i guess it depends on where everyone starts if a guy is lifting 450 he has a better chance of lifting 500 before a guy who is lifting 315

either way its at least some form of comp for the time being.
-
Ill do this i did it with Earl on the sports board ill bet my board signiture for a month it can say whatever the winner wants kinda stupid but at least its something.
-
I've done the "Race to 12647lbs" before but its not as fun IMO.
I think a 315 for reps is in order.
I think we may have yet another competitor too? Master Mangoo or something? I've heard of him I think? ;D

yes, lets do a flat bench with 315 for reps
-
Oh I thought we were doing squat but we can do bench too I suppose.
If the plates I use dont make a "clanking" sound just disregard that. :D
-
I cant bench :-[ fuked up shoulder

or a squat or dead no diff to me.

my vote is a deads contest 315 for reps
-
you guys do realize that if we do a 315 for reps..i'll take 30 or more to win it right?
i would suggest another 500 for reps challenge..but then again i did pull two sets of 12 with it a few weeks ago.. and that's just not fair. ;D

You did 500x12?! Major improvement bro!
I did 13 as soon as I read this. ;D
-
damn man lol im outclassed i might be able to get one or two fresh but hey last time you did the 500 i couldnt even compete b/c i couldnt lift it.
-
Here's my suggestion:
Rep contest with 445-500 lbs.
Belt allowed.
But here's the fun part - NO STRAPS this time. What's your thought on that?
It will be a bit of a test of the grip strength as well.

I dont think anyone needed the straps but there are some people who will and that would discourage them from entering.

LOL i would need the straps for sure i got pussy hand strength man but i like the idea i may be able to squeeze out one rep...LOL i know im a puss either way im in i actually always dead over/over so maybe i could do decent with an over/under grip.

try working with an over/over thumb lock grip, you may like it

sorry for the ignorance but whats that?

its where you grip the bar over hand, with your index finger over laping your thumb. The weight pushing down on your thumb and you pulling up putting stress back on the thumb from your index finger creates an anatomical "strap" if you will. The only bad thing is ive seen guys pull their thumb nails out, but if over/under is not for you this may be.

I use the thumb lock when doing the olympic lifts, but I'm still impressed when I see Podtynny thumb locking when he pulls 881 lbs. That's some crazy shit.

just remember it is crease of the hip below the top of the knee, not the bullshit interpretation you see now a days from those assclowns

Within about an inch of lockout, yes ;D And I have no endurance in my grip. im working on that though.

Definitely a great grip though. All things considered too.
