I have been doing the whole split thing as of late, and have been enjoying it. Today is a shoulders day, but aside from my 3-4 exercies, for 8-10 reps, I need another body part to pair with the shoulders, any suggestions as to what is good to pair with shoulders? I assume a pulling exercise, as shoulders is primarily pushing, but just thought I would check with the masses for some advice.

So what split are you currently following?
3 day split? 4 day split? upper/lower?
Hard to reccomend something if we don't know how your training...
-
anyway...
I do pull/legs/push, so i train shoulders and chest together.
-
Goals......what are your goals?

been doing a four day split, chest/tris, back bicep, shoulders/legs, chest/arms..just looking to add mass, currently 5'10, 180 lbs, 12-14 percent bf, do not care about leaning for the winter months here, just lift hard, eat hard, and grow.

Just wondering why you have chest and arms down twice a week, are you prioritising them for a reason or just cause you like training them?
I'd do either:
Chest/Tri's
Back/Bi's
Legs
Shoulders
or:
Chest/Bi's
Back
Legs
Shoulders/Tri's
-
just straight up like training them, is there a problem with this, if so let me know!

-
Triceps - I wouldn't really train anything else with shoulders - been like this for me for about ten years now and my delts and triceps are probably my two best bodyparts.
-
traps
X2
-
I tried this for a while (because of my work week):
Chest
Back
Rest
Legs
Shoulders/Arms
Rest
Rest
Repeat...
-
try this-
mon-legs/calfs
tues-chest/bi's
wed-off
thurs-shoulders/tris
fri-back
sat-off
sun-off
-
shoulders and triceps always for me, two great bodyparts to train together, your elbows and shoulders are already warmed up from the shoulder presses and lateral raises by the time you get to close grips.
-
Shoulders and traps for me. I'll also do tri's aswell sometimes.
-
I agree that shoulders/tris works well together. You hit traps on shoulder and back day anyway.
-
shoulders and tri's
-
Shoulders plus pulling exercises for back, Do rows for your back on chest day. Try it out.
-
Here's an idea
chest/shoulder/tris:
1.dips or bench
2.incline press or incline fly
3.military press (dumbell, barbell, or machine)
4.tricep pushdown or tricep extension
DONE
Don't even need number 4 if you train heavy enough...
-
shoulders and back for me. its alot of work and alot of sets, but its two of my favorite body parts to train, so i dont mind at all. i like this pairing mainly because the rear delts and traps both get "double hit". plus i dont have to worry about keeping rear delts isolated from my back when im trying to train them, since im already training back that day anyway.
-
right now i'm doing shoulders and traps, but i'm going to change things up in a few weeks and pair them with triceps
-
Right now I'm doing:
Shoulders/Tris
Back/Rear Delts
Chest/Bi's
Legs

I've done so many splits, I can't remember them all.
I've used them so I don't work my legs (strong point) till the end of the week. I've used them to prioritize parts that needed it.
Then I hurt my back, as well as work getting really busy and making Leg Day something to dread-more so than usual.
So, instead of hitting legs (quads, hams and calves) all in one day, I decided to split up the hamstrings and do those with shoulders.
At first I was tentative of doing it, but when I noticed both my shoulders growing, and my hamstrings too, I was convinced it was a pretty good split.
I've been using this split for about 1.5/2yrs.

I am currently doing:
Chest/Traps
Back
Legs
Shoulders/Arms
I have problems training shoulders and chest together because I injured my shoulders back in HS wrestling.

I've ran a split like that before, very effective, I like to go back to it from time to time.
