Ron Asheton (July 17, 1948 – c. January 1, 2009) was an American guitarist and co-songwriter with Iggy Pop for the rock band The Stooges.
He is ranked as number 29 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
Asheton was found dead in his Ann Arbor, Mich. home of a reported heart attack on January 6th, 2009, having died several days earlier.
