Title: What is Scout?
Post by: Princess L on January 22, 2009, 08:13:48 PM
Finally got back Scout's DNA results.  http://www.wisdompanel.com/

I've always figured him to have German Shepherd with some C00nhound, maybe some Doberman, maybe some Pit.

What do you think he is?
He weighs in at 39lbs and stands about 18-20 inches at the shoulder.

I'll post his results this weekend.  It came back with 3 distinct breeds.

Well, much to my surprise, he does NOT have detectable amounts of German Shepherd in him  :o

"Scout's ancestry contains some Australian Cattle Dog and Boxer and also include distant traces of Border Collie.  There are also faint signals from other breeds which are not strong enough to identify."

Apparently he's a true mutt.  After some research, I have found some characteristics of all of them in him.  I especially like this one about the Boxer.  "Tendancy to jump up on people, sometimes boxing with their front feet when doing so".  He usually does that immediately followed by a tongue to the face.  ;D

Haha!  Great pics of Scout!

My mom was over here the other day and we got on getbig for awhile.  She said Scout may have some Cattle Dog in him.  I knew we should have posted!

I know!  I'm half wondering that myself.  I guess I can see the cattle dog - size, shape, etc. And I suppose I can see some of the other characteristics too, but the fact that he DOESN'T have detectable amounts of GS, Rot, Hound, Beagle, etc. is baffling  :D

pretty dog, PL.

Why thank you   :-*  I think he's quite handsome myself.
