a_joker, do you think palin is the most qualified and prepared, out of all the republicans?
I'd like to see the most qualified republican run. So that whoever wins, America wins.
When I think about which republicans have the most experience, connections, understanding of how the nation works, and the cajones to stare down a nuclear confrontation with an enemy, I think NEWT might actually be my choice.
Of course, the dems might pull one of those moves where they all vote for an inferior candidate just to muck things up. I don't know which candidate they'd consider.
-
What's the status of the party now? Have they kicked out the Neocons/Rinos yet?
-
history's on romney's side. mccain got 2nd in 2000, got the nomination in 2008. bush got 2nd to reagan, ran after him (granted, he was also VP). ford barely beat reagan in 1976, won it in 1980. nixon's an exception as is ford, but still. it's a pretty good pattern.

Hey I am Canadian and she would be the best at expanding oil and natural gas development between our two nations.
This is the file that she is working on right now at the council of governors.
She is also a free trader and supports hunting and fishing and understands environment as well.
She has many weaknesses, but as a governor, running a state as large as Alaska is a hard task.
She is doing well at it so far and will be an excellent place to learn who an Administration works..
My number one concern for the Us is to eliminate its use of conflict oil.
Like Saudi Arabia or Venezuela or Nigeria.
When America, let Europe deal with the middle east because they don't need them, then the rest of the world can finally understand what America does and the sacrifices that it has made since Truman in Japan and Europe.
She understands this.

its going to be between palin and romney
id go for romney..hes been at it for a long time..my take.. he knows the ins and outs of the political system better than palin...palin is very much highly qualified, but i merit preservarace and actual skills...and romney beats her

Peter Schiff is thinking about running. I think he's very qualified but to be President? I don't know. Hell at this point I'd vote for Glenn Beck.

Judging from the other responses in this thread, we have learned nothing and are doomed. Palin, Romney? christ....

what can Repugs offer?
seriously
I have no idea
-
Palin, of course.
Because then another Dem victory is a sure fire thing.
-
Palin is done...2 years from now she'll be a footnote. Do u honestly think sopmebody like Michae Steel would allow a Palin to run again. We will either cow t the liberal wing of the party and get a young hip version of McCain or hoepfully another Reagan, entrenched in Conservatism. It may take 2 Obama terms to get there. Thats fine as long as Pelosi and Reid are gone by then.
-

She is the most talked about repub, still.
she has a book deal and can't stop getting in front of the camera.
she doesn't know she's done... she's planning on taking the nod in 2012.
-
Mitt Romney.
-
out of those listed I think that would have the best shot at winning or even giving the rep. party a good shot at winning. Personally I want to see Ron Paul but that will never happen.
-
Mitt Romney.
Just a nother wishy washy, flip flopping, douchbag of a politician.
-
worth repeating: http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=156319&title=the-douche-vote

Romney or Huck, preferably Huck.

I think McCain fucked up big time by not picking Huckleberry Hound
I would definitely say he's in the running for 2012

You are correct sir. I had this convo with Hugo. Huck would have appealed to the same faith based group without coming off like a moron. I firmly believe that ANYONE but Palin would have given McCain a better chance. Even as much as religious conservatives hate Giuliani he would have been better.

who is whispering "raise taxes"?

who is whispering "raise taxes"?
MSNBC initially reported it certainly came from only one place - Romney's mic. No one, anywhere else. It was big news on getbig, as well as all the boards, right when it happened. MSNBC confirmed they didn't give the answer, and then didn't touch the story again. Nobody else on stage was talking at the time. You do the math.
Then the story disappeared. Maybe there was a backdoor deal. Maybe NBC decided if it was a big deal, it would destroy their own credibility with catching such things. Who knows. He was elimitated from nominatino contention a week later on super tuesday.

4 guys I like to see in the mix for Pres & VP...Romney, Jindal, Huckabee, and Michael Steele.
Palin seems to be a good Alaskan gov. She is not the best suited for federal politics.
-
newt has got to be the most qualified...perhaps the most qualified person in either party, but he won't run.

I agree with both of these statements 100%.
I dont know much about steele.
-
Black guy, was LT Gov of Maryland.....very conservative...running for head of GOP.
-
Newt won't run because he's totally un-electable
no doubt he's smart and articulate but he's also political poison (and also a bit too much of a right wing wackjob)
-
He can't run....

Its going to be between Romney and Jindal. The governor from MINN. is also in the running.I agree with you,Id support Newt but he cant win.

I think it'll be romney.
Jindal... I dunno.. I see him waiting for 2016. He's very young, and obama will look like a seasoned vet next to a 4-year president in obama.
The man is 37 years old today.
This means he'll be barely 40 when running against a gray obama, who will suddenly look presidential, wise, and who actually carries more mass than jindal does.
Will the majority of american voters 'change horses' mid-stream to this man? I don't see it.
-
Does anyone here really care about 2012 at this point.
Shouldn't we be more interested in what the current guy is going to do over the next 4 years and maybe give him a chance to pull us out of this death spiral that the Repugs have put us in with their totally failed policies.
-
Jindal is massive. Getbig endorsed!

No.

Obama is?

I've seen a few of the far-right members already say "palin in 2012" lately ;)
-
perhaps ron paul or another libertarian(liberal) republican
-
Palin w/ Joe the Plumber as her VP...or maybe Rush Limbaugh
-
Romney?
Huck?
Palin?
Rudy?

I still think romney is the best choice, but would by far prefer Newt.
I still like Palin and think she could be a force if she focused on certain national issues she needs more experience in.
-
Really, I think we just need more moderate republicans in the senate and tip the majority so we can get Pelosi the hell out of there. I'll bet Obama would do a decent job with a republican controlled house & senate. We need to get far left and far right politicians out of washington. We have too many far lefties right now...there is no balance.
-
Who is on the "far right" in the Senate that is causing problems?
-
I was making a general statement. We hear so little from senate republicans (outside of John boehner) lately that I couldn't even answer that question!
Point is that the gov is far too liberal now and really needs better balance.
-
We are only one week in!!!!
If the GOP plays it right and Pelosi and Obama keep coming out with edicts, orders, and think they are rulers, 1994 is going to look like nothing and hopefully Pelosi will be ousted.
She is such a disgrace.
