I found this on YouTube. It's Strydom's pre-film and routine from the 1991 show.
Unlike the one I recorded back in 1992, this is from the Championship itself and NOT from WBF BodyStars, which means the routine is in its entirety and, Tom Platz and another guy are doing the commentary, instead of Vince McMahon who (as I've just discovered) did the voice-over for the BodyStars clip.
Check it out:
-
nice rug and perfect false teeth
-
personally, I think Eddie Robinson was screwed at that show. he looked great.
-
Strydoms back was nothing to write home about - although he looks very good from the front.

I actually picked Robinson or Strydom to win that show. When I found out Eddie placed 5th, I thought he got robbed, too........UNTIL I saw Strydom's physique on BodyStars. Then, I went from "How did Strydom win the show?" to "NO WONDER HE WON THE TITLE!!!!"
Here's Eddie Robinnson routine (or part of it, at least) from the '91 Championship.

Was he eating ay Johnny's restaurant, La Falcon? ;)

Just in case you're wondering, Hulkster, here's the guy who placed immediately ahead of Eddie Robinson.
"The Future" Jim Quinn

Eddie's arms remind me a bit of Lee Priest- they were enormous for his frame...

Hahaha yes, Johnny owned a restaurant back then in the 90's, very popular back then.
He sold it a few years ago, to be able to focus on his true calling, painting and making vids.

Strydom, Dearth, Robinson, Aaron Baker and others that still had some time left, ruined their careers.
The Quinns, Padilla, Ferrigno, etc were pretty much done, and made some quick bucks.

Eddie Robinson would beg to differ. When he got his MuscleMag column, he explained that he made more money in 1 year in the WBF than he would have in four years in the IFBB.
Plus, Eddie stayed an extra two years, endorsing ICOPRO, after the WBF folded. If McMahon kept him at his WBF salary, Robinson was making somewhere around $200,000/year.
Dearth and Baker did quite well and competed at several Olympias. Ferrigno managed a 10th place spot at the '93 Olympia.
Gary Strydom hardly ruined his career. Basically, he got spoiled rotten for two years as WBF champion (He was the first bodybuilder to get $100,000 for winning a pro bodybuilding show). Plus, he got a nice Weider contract (without even competing) shortly after the WBF went belly-up.

That entire bb show was about a gay as two gay men having gay naked anal sex.
-
gayer than bodybuilding.
-
that clip was the first time I have ever seen Strydom's back. They never used to show him from behind in the magazines - only side or front poses

Yes, they have. Look at the contest coverage of Strydom from the 1988 Olympia or both WBF championships.

Found another WBF Championship clip, this one from 1989 NPC Nationals Champion and Mr. Universe winner, Troy Zuccolotto.....SURF'S UP!!
-
I posted this one on another thread, dedicated to him.
Here's 3rd place finisher, Berry "The Flexing Dutchman" DeMey:

Looked like a white paul dillet

I'd say that Dillet looks more like a black Gary Strydom (except with better-peaked biceps). Strydom was winning pro shows, before Dillet even turned pro.

Leave it to Vince McMahon to make a mockery of an already train wreck such as a Pro Bodybuilding show.

McMahon was the first to award $100,000 for winning a “train-wreck”. Dorian, Ronnie, Jay, and Dexter might not be getting the six-figure checks to go with their Sandows, had McMahon not done this.
Besides, nowadays, the IFBB guys are using props and costumes at their events. In fact, Toney Freeman has done that executioner routine several times. That's page from Johnnie "The Executioner" Morant's book.

hahahaha the intros were the stupidest ...esp. when the one BB broke out of jail....nowadays they just go to jail and stay there .

That would be Mike Quinn's 1992 routine.
Incidentally, I just saw Ronnie Coleman's 2005 Olympia performance. It appears that the IFBB has been incorporating some of the WBF's techniques for a while now.
