The Chair of President Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, Dr. Christina Romer, on Sunday said that the fundamentals of the economy are "sound,"

I think that she's wrong... I think that until people in this country start "producing" a product, then the fundamentals of the economy are fucked.

I agree with you on that, but this just goes to show what a manipulative and dishonest campaign both the media and ZERO ran against McCain.

They agree with McCain but made it look like they didnt just to score cheap points on emotion.

Something sank Mccain in late september.   Remember when he was LEADING on intrade by 52%?  What was it that caused his stock to plummet?

Ah, yes!

Completely hypocritical.  I think the fundamentals were shaky 6 months ago and shaky now.  The difference is Obama added trillions of dollars in debt.

I need to read the whole piece later.
But there is something fundamentally wrong that has to be fixed.
There is tremendous potential in the US economy, but lots of it is getting wasted due to expensive health care, ineffective schools, poor infrastructure and lack of regulations for the financial market.

So without reading her whole statement, I think she's totally wrong.

in the debate in the spring at the reagan library...
ron paul said the economy was in trouble.
mccain joined rudy and mitt to say everything was great.

mccain was delusional.

he also said 'rich' was a net worth of $5 mil.
he also said if he wins, he'll work to make 'everyone rich!'

if he believes he can give $5 mil to 310 million people... well...
more delusional

If by "sound" she actually means "fucked", then she's right.

Any nation that wastes 25% of its citizens tax dollars on military expenses is a nation with unsound economic fundamentals.
I think North Korea is a big spender too - they're not exactly threatening for the top spot on the GDP ranking.

Obama Team Adopts McCain's Optimism on Economy

Obama now claims that the 'fundamentals of the economy are sound'...no sh*t... he's not a teleprompter president- he's a parrot.

Barack Obama lambasted John McCain during the presidential campaign for saying the fundamentals of the economy are "strong." Now the president's adviser says the fundamentals of the economy are obviously "sound."

Is there a difference between "sound" and "strong"?

One could make a case that there is.
