I joined the United States Marine Corp
I leave for boot camp on the 18th of May
I told some dudes about this via PM but thought
I'd put this out there since if I don't post for 3 days people miss me ::)

i was in the marines
boot camp was hell!
u wont shit for the 1st few days u are there cuz of nerves
our 1st shower was standing heel to toe with the naked dude in front of us...and we had to run into the shower room and under the faucets w/ a drill instructor screaming at us
the sand fleas and the mosquitoes bit me sooo bad and u cant itch when u are at attention
start learning the rankings and history now
just dont stand out like i did
blend in!
all the drill instructors knew my name by the 3rd week...not good!!!

I actually remember the first couple of days after BSB joined the boards.......I've been anxiously awaiting this thread ever since.

28, married + 2 kids. Which I needed a waiver for
I have a good, steady, secure job but it's not very exciting anymore and I'm bored with it. If I want to do the military I had to get my ass in gear before age 29, at least for the USMC. It's something I've always thought about and I'm at a point where my kids are old enough and we make enough money that it's okay for me to do.
All the branches are so full right now that I was told it was a miracle I got waived considering all my waivers I had to do. Major bullshit.

Good luck man, I did boot in the army right down the road. The sand flea thing is true. They will wake you in the middle of the night and make you march in place to wake them, then like gene said make you stand at attention while those lil fuckers bite you. Aint nothing to it, but to do it... GOOD LUCK and Stand out. If you do you will remember boot camp and it will be a great learning experiance.
I made sure that at reception even before boot camp I made my name known by DS.(drill serg) the first few weeks sucked because of it, but once the ds's got real and quit being dicks I learned a lot of shit from them and got special perks. Got to drink coffee while the rest of my platoon drank juice... It has it's perks to be known for working your ass off and leading a platoon.
