Title: When was the MM pose first performed?
Post by: lax on May 06, 2009, 10:25:10 AM
I don't think I have ever seen C Ross and S Reeves or Grimek did one....although there exists a really good one of an early Dan Lurie.

anyone know?

It used to be known as the 'trap over' pose (ok I'm getting old, lol), and quite a few did it back in the 'olden days'.  The first modern guy to popularize it was Harold Poole. He owned it for several years- at least til Sergio came along. I still think Sergio owns it.

Sandow in 1897 some 112 years ago in this shot would be right up there with being one of the first to perform the MM as we know it as today... 8)

not trying to be funny, but it is exactly that pose that gave bodybuilding it's  perverted  connotation. to an outsider at first glance it seems that something else is being done here not a most muscular pose.
