My friend did a 20 rep deadlift before. Said it was the closest thing he had felt to death. lol. Poundstone just did it with a car and had more to spare  :-\

man talk about motivating.

on the axle press is it typical for the strongmen to start with a over/under grip and flip it to do the press, it seems very unconventional. i can't argue with the final results though!

Most of them seem to go mixed grip. I guess it's because it's a lot more likely to slip out if both hands are overhand

i guess i didn't consider the size of the bar. it still seems awkward.

It is at first. Once you learn it though, you wonder why anyone would power clean the bar. ;D

i train specifically for thick bar stuff for upcoming strongman and grip events.. grip events require double overhand ONLY for deadlifts and trust me.. your deadlift is NOTHING on the axle compared to a traditional barbell.. 2" thick bar WITHOUT bearings in the plate loaded ends that prevent plate rotation AND you're not allowed to hook-grip..

it's insane!

On an axle with DO grip, I can only get a bit over 300lbs. I was just trying it the other day. If I use a switch grip I can get 585 pretty easily. It makes you feel like a giant vaj when people see you dropping a 350lb DL, but they just dont understand. ;D
