Hahahahah! A Gemini girl born in the year of the Ox, I love it!
She'll be stubborn as heck, ...with a split personality, ...you are soooo in for a wild ride  ;D

Don't worry, ...you'll be ok, ...until she reaches around 2 or so, ...then after she gets to be about 7.
But once puberty sets in, ...you might as well give up. Stick a fork in you, ...cause you'll be toast.
Mark my words. In the years to come, ...you'll look back on this and poop yourself at it's accuracy.  :)

Uhm...I won't congratulate you because I find this convention odd (successful copulation and impregnation isn't really that much of a feat), however, I hope that you find satisfaction in the continuation of your line of DNA; you have fulfilled your (biological) purpose on earth and I wish you success in your role as the progenitor of this DNA.

I could care less about the continuation of my DNA.  I think people give congrats because a new person will be coming into their world who will love you and you them, if all goes well.  It's a change for life.  Years of experience with your family that will have a hell of a lot of meaning past simple copulation/impregnation.  I don't think anyone recognizes having a kid as some special feat.  They're not saying, hey congrats on winning the triathlon you entered....

I'm fine with all that, just not the split personality.  That sounds crazy.  There's no mental illness in her family history.  Also what is the Ox thing, is that chinese astrology?  I don't believe that garbage for a second.

I just know it's not something I consciously worried about.  I mean it's really cool shit seeing that she's part me and part my wife.  But I never had that OMG, I must breed to save my line.  I've probably spent more time looking at others and thinking, I hope they don't breed :D

It really depends. This world can be incredibly painful and difficult. Hopefully you are wealthy and privileged so your progeny will not experience too much of that pain and difficulty.

{giggle}

I didn't mean that in the literal sense of a split personality. I'm refering to her western astrological sign of Gemini.
Gemini (the twins). People born under that sign have a duality about them, often described as a split personality. Yes, the Ox, is her Chinese astrological sign. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure what her element is whether she is a water, air, wood, fire Ox etc, but she will be a very stubborn headstrong little girl, determined to accomplish whatever goals she sets for herself, ...whether Daddy approves or not. That's the fun part.  :D

You may not believe in it, however, there is much accuracy in it.
Wait until she grows up and develops into her own little personality, ...and you'll see...    ;D

What have you named her?

ps: If you've never experienced it before, ...welcome to the world of being wrapped around a woman's little finger.
You'd never know that so much power existed in so tiny a little finger... but it does.  You'll find out....  ;D

"she will be a very stubborn headstrong"  Well that's a good description of both parents :D  So I guess we won't really know if it's the astrology or genetic.

neither Hereford or I did that so why on earth would you even mention it TA?  I actually thought it was stupid when the pediatrician told us all her stats, each one in relation to the national average.  I thought, WTF, what is the point?  They give you the stats like they're grades ::)  What am I going to do, go stretch the baby to fit their perfect score?  and I pay for them to give me that info?  I'd rather just know about things that can be addressed if there's a problem, not the things you can't do anything about.

Isn`t their something better they can brag about such as  "My wife`s pussy isn`t ruined!"

Every jerk off always has to go and tell everyone their alien-headed babies "stats" as if anyone really gives two squirts.  Then its on to how "smart they are".

Its the same nonsense over and over.  If I had a kid, and I will NEVER have one, I would just tell everyone how dumb it is and how the dog is smarter and doesn`t have to wear a diaper.

Personally I'd want to know the stats. The stats provided aren't a perfect score, they are an average.

You sound bitter and people having pride in their children - the MOST important thing in their lives. You seem to have strange pride in diet concepts that are easy to debunk and love for GM crops for which arguments against are strong than for. I would much prefer to be obsessive towards my children if I had them.

the only thing I want to know is if the measurements are normal or abnormal.  If they're outside the range as to indicate a problem then fine.  I really could care less how she matches up to other babies.  I'm fine with given the measurements, that's cool, watch her grow and all that.  I just don't care what her exact percentile is compared to all other babies and all the measurements given are phrased in a percentile number.  I was like, is she normal?  Is she ok?  They were like, yes, this is fine.  And I was like, why do I need to know her measurements in relation to others then?

you haven't noticed I've been posting 10 times less?  She's doing most of it while I'm catching up on work but I do changes too.  It's not as bad as I imagined.  All the horror stories people give, I expected changing diapers was going to be really terrible and traumatizing.  It doesn't even smell much.

Wait til she grows a bit, and gets off the breast, ...or has her first bout of diarrhea.  ;D

2 week old poop is nothing compared to 2 month old poop, ...or 8 month old poop.
The best part will be you getting used to changing her little diapers, ...then having a son. {bwahahahaha}.

I saw this guy on the news the other day. I felt so sorry for him.
He has a newborn baby in the house, ...and there's a garbage strike taking place in Toronto right now.
No garbage collection taking place. Lots of diapers +  a heat wave + no means of disposal = a very fragrant house.  :)

Have you done the late night / early morning hookups yet?

That's when your wife is so exhausted, ...you just don't have the heart to wake her up to feed the baby, ...so you just grab the baby, bring her into bed with you, ...and hook her up to the nipple while your wife is still asleep. HA!

I can't tell you how many fathers have resorted to that during the first little while.  ;D

Wasn't really trying to scare you... simply laughing over your impending predicaments. They will be many.
But since you bring up scaring you, ...I'll back off. I won't have you picturing all the things that can and will freak you out over the years, ...and there will be sooooo many things. I can't wait for you to report back the first time she spits out all her food while you have her in the high chair trying to get her to eat something she doesn't want to. ...but don't worry, ...you'll have plenty of time, ...and much more pressing matters to deal with in the meantime.  :D  ...like when she's crying her little eyes out, ...and you haven't yet figured out what she's trying to tell you or what each one of her cries mean.

BTW - does your wife have a breast pump to express her milk?  ...cause you don't ever wanna run out.  :o
...and if you do, ...be sure to label it properly in the fridge. You don't want to get it mixed up with cows milk. Baby's little tummy might not be able to take it. It might make her constipated. the last thing you want is a constipated baby on your hands, ...and you might not like the taste of a glassful of breast milk. but don't worry, ...these mix ups don't happen too often, ...only once in a while. You'll be fine. really. you'll be fine.  :)

PS: if you ever take her out to the mall or something, ...be sure to tie one end of a string around her wrist, and the other end to your wrist. Having a baby is not something you're used to, ...and you don't want to go forgetting her someplace. I can't tell you how many new parents have done that, ...completely forgotten they had a baby with them, ...and just get in their cars and drive off leaving the baby behind. Remember Joey & Chandler did it on Friends, ...and there was that guy who left his baby daughter behind at the train station in New Jersey, ...but don't worry, ...you'll be fine.  :)

A newborn enters the world at highway speed near Bob's Big Boy

By Helen Altonn

POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Jul 04, 2009

After 23 hours in labor with their first child, Alim and Cydney Shabazz thought there was plenty of time to get from Ewa Beach to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children for their daughter's birth.

It turned out to be an unforgettable trip early Thursday for the couple and Alia Cydney Charmaine, who wasn't expected until July 9.

Shabazz, 31, said his wife, 32, woke him about midnight Wednesday with labor pains. They called her doctor and left home about 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

"We started timing our contractions like the doctors ask you to," Cydney said, explaining they went quickly from 7 to 4 minutes apart, then became closer.

"We were in the car, on our way, and I was telling my husband we still have a little time because my water hasn't broken yet. Then it broke," she said.

As they got to Mapunapuna near Tripler Army Medical Center, her husband said, "I heard a pop and I thought this was pretty urgent. I called 911 to talk to a medical professional. I informed them we were halfway from Ewa Beach to Kapiolani."

He said he asked if he should pull over, wait for an ambulance or keep going and was told that depended on his wife. He said he asked her if she could make it to the hospital and she said, "I don't think so. I feel a head."

"I felt the urge to push," she said. "I felt her head and after a couple pushes, she was out. I just pulled her right on out and set her on my chest."

Shabazz said his wife was in the passenger seat of their Hummer H2 with the seat reclined as far as it would go when his daughter's head came out.

"I'm driving. I felt with my right hand, trying to stay calm and obviously not crash. The next thing I hear my wife say, 'The baby is coming, the baby is coming.' I look over and my wife had given birth and the baby is on her shoulder."

Within 30 seconds, he said, "I looked over and there was one person. I looked over again and there were two people."

Bob's Big Boy restaurant in the background provided a landmark for the momentous event, he said.

He said his truck has a lot of handles his wife was able to use. "Her right hand was pulling her body up and her left hand was making sure the baby didn't hit the floor. I credit my wife so much. It was just amazing. "

Near the Vineyard overpass, he said, "I looked over at the baby. It was dark in the car and outside, about 2:15 a.m., and the baby wasn't moving."

He said he told the 911 operator, "She's not moving and not crying, not making a sound. She's not breathing." His wife cleared out the baby's mouth with a finger, he said. "At this point it's getting to be very scary for me."

The 911 operator said to grab a shirt or towel and try to stimulate the baby by rubbing her back, which his wife did, he said. The baby "made the smallest, meek cry. It sounded like a little kitten. 'Oh, my God, she's breathing, she's OK,' I told the guy on the phone."

The 911 operator called the ER at Kapiolani and as soon as they pulled into the hospital, medical team members ran out and took care of his wife and baby, he said.

He said he wants to find the 911 operator who stayed on the phone with him throughout the dramatic experience. "He was a true professional. I appreciated all his help."

His daughter will have a great story to tell about her birth but he wouldn't want to do it again, Shabazz said.

"It was scary and exciting," said the mother of the six-pound, 15-ounce, 20-inches long baby girl. "We planned for every scenario but the one that's actually occurred. It all worked out ... I can't believe it either, to be honest with you."

She said her husband "did a good job. It was pretty scary to witness and stay calm and continue to get me there."

Shabazz laughed, saying, "I told the hospital, 'you can't charge me for delivery because we did that on our own."

The family returned to their home on Kahoi St. yesterday after 22-month-old son, Alim II, met his new sister at the hospital.

"She's cool," he said.

you haven't noticed I've been posting 10 times less?  She's doing most of it while I'm catching up on work but I do changes too.  It's not as bad as I imagined.  All the horror stories people give, I expected changing diapers was going to be really terrible and traumatizing.  It doesn't even smell much.

x2

Not a big deal. People talk about it being a lot worse than it is.

Agree with the stats thing... A lot of people get way too into it.... even tho it means nothing the day after the child is born.

Yeah.  I'd be reluctant to take parenting advice from someone who is single with no kids.
