Post by: Ursus on July 13, 2009, 11:59:21 AM
Rioting half a mile down the road from my house.

Police in riot gear baton charging

Petrol bombs, bricks and bottles thrown

Its just like the mid 90's again

English cops dont.

The southern Irish cops dont.

The police in the north do - cos guns are so easily attainable up north they need them. Eveyry single cop has one

Paint yourself green run in front of the rioters in ripped jeans (nothing more) and start doing most musculars whilst roaring.

Irish cops are all fat little girls on a power trip, only in the police cos a relative got them in
Giving them guns would be like giving the American presidency to an african american
ie totally irresponsible

our president was elected free and clear; your insolence is duly noted.

I just read about this, Sinn Feinn were saying it was a bunch of splinter groups headed by the Real IRA, I dont know about you URSUS but i never thought this was over, not by a long shot...you have the prods lighting 150 tall bonfires and trying to march through catholic areas, you know theyre still under the siege mentality, it's a show of force driven by a deep seated insecurity. Paisley Junior can crow all he wants about the fact they prevented NI from rejoining Ireland, but it seems to me that the catholics are just waiting for the demographic majority to kick in, once that happens we could see some real trouble once again. Thing that worries me is that we say theres peace, but its only maintained in many areas through the construction of huge walls to divide and segregate the communities, I cant see how thats going to help in the long run.

maybe im wrong and NI has genuinely turned a corner, but there seems to be so many problems still, ill be honest im not hopeful.

English cops walking the beat or patroling dont have guns...but believe me if they suspect that you do have one, there'll be an SO19 squad on your arse in about 3minutes, the end result is normally not pretty for the dude with the gun.

Less overt violemce but people still think the same and when backed intoacorner act exactly the same
