No, the area off Orange County down through La Jolla is home for them. There's an underwater "channel" there

I used to stand in my pool and see the whales off the shore.  Could see them from my kitchen too.  My friend has an cigarette boat and we went around to the other side of Oahu and saw some whales turned off the motor and drifted for over an hour and the whales hung around and even came with just a few feet of the boat.  I have some unreal photos somewhere.  It was really awesome they are huge up that close.
