No kidding. The BMI is such a joke. A couple years ago at one of my physicals I had my Dr. telling me I was obese. Keep in mind I'm six foot tall & I weighed 235 with a 34 inch waste at the time. ::)

Another sad thing is that the insurance companies use BMI too, so for instance, if you need a physical for life insurance you end up getting underwritten as obese ::)

It was a pain!! I had to send my underwriter pictures because they gave me a bad rating for obesity. Im six fot three weigh 238 and "normal" for my height is 205.

Yep -I got turned down for the police and fire service in my younger days because they did the ol' BMI thing and I turned out to be 30lbs "overweight" according to their stupid height v weight charts.

Remember shadowpilot who was posting here from Iraq last year? The Army was making him lose WEIGHT (not BF) or be demoted ::). He hasn't posted since last November. I hope he's ok.

I agree the BMI was designed for SEDINTRY people not athletic people.
The same applies for RDA.
At my yearly medical for work I am always told that I am "Obese" for my height ::)
