I tried searching for my answer but this forum slowed down a lot when i did, so I thought i'd start a new thread
Basically I've found out that I can buy 3 muscle milk shakes (those 25 gram protein shakes) a day on campus with my meal plan and it'll be free. So I was wondering if theres anything bad about muscle milk? I read the label of the first one i drunk last night and the only thing I noticed is that it's a little high in fat. But it'll be at least an extra 25 grams of protein a day in my diet.
Should I start taking them?
-
Sure why not? IMO - three a day may be a little excessive but one here & there wouldn't hurt.
Do a search of the nutrition board because I think there was some complaints about Muscle Milk a year or so ago (but I could be wrong).
-
A bit high in fat, yes. If you're limiting your carbs it's OK for you, but just that- OK. Nothing spectacular.
Muscle Milk also make a "Light" version that is a bit lower in fat, which I would recommend over the regular MM.
-
The fats in MM are of the healthy variety. Drink up.

If you are carrying the lower fat version around with you during the day to sip on, forget it. It coagulates. It's nasty. Stick with the regular version or just use Myoplex. Its a better MRP and tastes good

If you can snag them for free, sounds like a great option !

I don't care if it's good fats or bad fats, I'd rather not ingest that much over any given time period. I think the protein to fat ratio is a bit off, IMO. It's different than other powders, and that makes is better but on the other side of the coin, if you're making an attempt to get 60g of protein per meal, that means you're taking in 30g of fat (total, again, good or bad I'm not looking at) for that one meal. You'll also have 16g of carbs added in, which with that much fat doesn't make for a great drink....
...killer taste though! MM has the best flavors, options and taste, hands down IMO.

I don't buy the stuff unless I'm starving and don't see any better option. In either case, I would never carry it around with me, as I usually eat everything there on the spot after I buy it.

I've used it off and on since it came out years ago.
Probably the best tasting stuff i've ever tried.
I always mixed 1 scoop of MM with 1 scoop of Vanilla Isopure to keep the fat low, but if i was bulking i used to drink a couple MM shakes every day and that can put some weight on you.

If you haven't seen or tried the Monster Milk Rtd's, this is the better option for the fat/pro ratio. The bottle is 20oz/2.5servings with a twist off top. The Nutr. facts below is for the full bottle.

Saturated Fat 3g

I think this is the flavor that I saw, but here's a link to something similar and why I posted what I did...

There was an article on tnation.com about muscle milk and brain damage. I don't know if there was really anything to the article, and now I can't find it.
Google "muscle milk brain damage"

Every time I have had one I had the screaming squirts just an hour later.......
Sounds like a personal problem. Never happens to me.

I'll back you up RPF...I remember something at T-Nation and Muscle Milk. I do not remember what it was that Muscle Milk called, but I know there was something serious that T-Nation was claiming inside MM and caused serious harm.
-
I remember the article.
I also believe they mentioned that it would require a great amount AND repeated use over a very long period of time before exhibiting any kinds of sides.

Yeah, I probably should have added in the the second part of your statement....
...not like you take it one time and you're suddenly going to die.

They have since taken it out of the muscle milk, but is still present in monster milk & fast twitch.
