EDIT: and his right leg is a lot smaller in the 2nd pic

Looks very similar - I would say his 2006 look was slightly better then 2009, but its close.

Great demonstration Mike. Goes to show that most getbiggers just bandwagon with judging decisions. If Branch had won everyone would be posting about how great Branch looked, how Branch would beat guys from the late 90's, etc. Similarly, in 2001 when Jay was arguably at his best, he did not get nearly as much praise as he is now that he's actually regressed in physique, but improved in placings due to lesser competition and political favouratism for having "paid his dues"

Fair enough lol, but don't you find it ironic that in 09 everyone is saying how Jay was clearly the winner and well-deserved and possibly even the best Mr. O ever, whereas in 06 everyone was complaining that he got a gift...yet in actuality he was pretty similar in both shows?

really? waist is smaller, much dryer, but a little smaller overall.

Bigger in 06, but better in 09. Pics don't tell the whole story, either.

older jay dropped the weight to come in leaner. something ronnie should have done to get #9 vs a boat load of tears.

He was not pretty similar in both shows , he was hard as nails & dry as hell in 09 coupled with a ton of mass , he dominated this show and was good enough to win in 06 big difference

He was good in 06 to (hence win) but even better in 09.
In 06 he was abit fuller but not as lean as in 09.
More insulin load in 06? i dunno..

Color is much imroved. Much drier- noticible in his biceps and quads especially- back is much imrproved- competition was also much weaker. When branch gets second you KNOW some big names were wayyyy off. Jay deserved the win and brought his A game to the table. Noone was even close.

Man he was fucking big in '06! Very red too.
I say he has a better physique this year, but he was damn huge in '06. He really sorted out his waist this year, which people thought he could never do. That's a Ronnie '05 style transformation, not to compare, but basically he knew what to do and he did it. He was tighter than ever. A couple of skin folds still on the back, but glutes and lower back actually pretty ripped! The thinner waist just makes everything look else bigger than it is.

Jay's physique in 2009 is so much better than it was in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Is blindness a permanent condition of bodybuilding fans? A narrower waist will ALWAYS make everything else look better. Add to a tight waist some good, broad shoulders and solid calves and you have all the ingredients for that timeless WOW look.

Tan and lighting are factors. Big delts and width in the 06 shots.

I dont think jay has ever suprassed how good he looked in 01. He was amazing. Since then all his gains have been offset by an increasingly wider waist.
