Title: GOLD CARD + MARKDOWNS + "Buy One; Get One 50% off" = CLEANUP TIME AT GNC
Post by: MCWAY on October 06, 2009, 09:01:40 AM

Namely, something I haven't purchased in over two years, a 7-lb jug of CELL-TECH Hardcore, marked down to $27 ($20 and change after Gold Card). And, it's the Blue Raspberry kind, which I've been eager to try and it tastes great.

Add to that a 2-lb jug of Xyience's X-Protein for $12 and some MET-Rx protein bars @ $0.74 each and it makes for a good day, especially when the protein powder ended up being just $4.

If that other jug of Xyience X-Protein is still there, I'm picking it up today, along with any other goodies I can find.

mcway you ever go in and buy something expensive and put half in a jug at home then go back and return the other half...so in essence you just got that product for free?  gnc allows any product to be returned, as long as its within 30 days and its not more than half empty.

NOPE!! Whatever I need to buy, that is normally expensive, I get when it's marked down (i.e. the aforementioned Cell-Tech). It's been years since I could get it that cheap.

I'm looking to get some more Methyl Masterdol from LG Sciences. I wish I'd bought both bottles, when they were marked down to $12.74. I only got one and I just finished it last week.

I will respectfully decline your offer, Pete!

But to answre your question, indeed I am....well almost. The product aren't expired when I buy them and I usually consume them before they're slated to do so.

The GNCs you need to find are ones in the mall and (if applicable) on military bases. If you go to the franchise ones, they RARELY mark their products down. The owners will take too much of a loss, if they do. It's the corporate ones, usually found in the aforementioned places, that hook you up.

How do you know that these items are still any good though?  What is their true shelf life?

I used to work at a franchised GNC, and even with my discount I couldn't get shit as cheap as places like Massnutrition.com/Dpsnutrition.com.

As I said, I usually get the products a month or two before the expiration date that's on the orange sticker.

And, since the bulk of the time I get protein powder, it's usually gone well before the expiration date. I use them and they seem to work just, although some protein powders (i.e. soy) tend to taste a little foul when it gets old.

Hey McWay....I got a better deal than you did....you know I hate supps, but I couldn't resist two huge 7lb jugs of ANATOR from muscletech for $15.00 each and 2 7lb jugs of Cell-Tech for $10.00 each...I guess it's not so much that I hate supps , just the overblown prices....

Also got 20 cans of expired strawberry Nitro-Tech Protein drinks for $30.00 with a few packs of Gaspari's super-pump thrown in ...still tasted great....I hear that supps don't actually expire until about a year after their expiration date.

dude I completely agree with you here.... every single damn time I go in there to look up the ON protein it's buy one and 50% off on the next one.... sounds great right... yeah NO! they mark up the price from the "regular" price and you pay half off of the regular price that is ridiculously over priced already.  End up paying more then going online so F that... last time I was so pissed I told the guy wtf I buy this card for then... shit is useless.

GNC has known loss/expired coverage with the majority of third party vendors.. most of the stuff that is expiring is marked down because they don't have the coverage.  GNC is massive versus the other retail stores and is able to get credit back from the vendors (ie. muscletech/EAS/etc) for expired goods.
