Great matchup.  I hope rashad gets by him so they put up Rashad/page.

Rampage got punked out. Opting to focus on his acting career after all the hype of the ultimate fighter series. I think Thiago is going to rock Rashad

I wish I still had the article, but Rampage took a lot of the things said on the show to personaly and Rashad still wanted to fight him, but Rampage backed out of the fight to "focus on his acting career". Passing up a great payday fight after months of hype is punking out andor being a bitch.

His UFC contract is for $300k + incentives (fight of the night, KO of the night, Submission of the night etc, plus a percentage of the PPV) what he did, despite his "retirement" was only put the fight on hold. He made more money with the movie than he would have by fighting. His per diem alone was $2500.00 per week for the movie. Now that he's done filming this month (I said this before) he will move back with his wife and kids and then start preparing for the fight. So, to reiterate, he didn't back out, he put it on hold.

While Rampage "puts the fight on hold" the fight is going to get cold. Rashad probably loses to Thiago, that sets up another rematch for the title for Thiago or could go the same way if Rashad wins over Thiago. Rampage decides to stop "putting the fight on hold" and by that time a new ultimate fighter series is ready to begin and the Rashad and Rampage fight will be old old news and maybe be shown on spike, but not pay per view.

Joe, we agree on politics, but not on math:

Movie shoots are 10-12 weeks.

$2,500 x 12 = $30,000.

$300K>$30K

Mr. T=Alzheimers
Wesley Snipes can't pay the bills.
Michael Jai White = STV
Vin Diesel=Outed

Future for Rampage as Next Black Action Hero:

Like Dana said, unless you're a half-black man named 'The Rock', fighting pays better than acting.

It'll be good to have Page back in the Octagon. He seems like a solid dude.

Ed, that was just for his PER DIEM. $30k in in playing around money isn't too shabby for 3 months. Look, I'll be the first to Rampage future isn't in acting, he knows it, I know it, I also know his contract (for the movie) is worth more than his contract with the UFC for all of his fights last year including his incentives. I also know that after his next fight he will be co-starring in a film by John Singlton. Quinton has made wise investments to protect himself and his family.

I want Silva to win very badly as I strongly dislike Rashad. I just dont see it happening. I see Rashad Outstriking Silva and if it goes to the ground, I think Rashad's wrestling will be good enough to defend Silva's BJJ. I am hoping I am wrong.

Nogueira is old, past his prime and is still the UFC's biggest star besides Lesnar. And now that Lesnar is gone, it is either him or Anderson Silva who is the biggest star. I feel sorry for the beatings he took in his prime from Fedor. It was like watching a grown man beating up a kid, and Nogueira is a monster in terms of durability and toughness.

Decent card, not a dissapointment.

Rashad made thiago gas because of the wrestling in the first two rounds.

As mentioned, if he wasn't gassed he would have finished Rashad in the third after the knockdown imo.

Silva and Rampage would be a better fight.

I see their matchup as more hype than anything if you ask me. Evans doesn't have the "toolbag" to beat rampage.

Hype wise this will sell tickets.

When you have the experience page does...rashad fits into a model so to speak. Evans fits a mold and puzzle rampage has already solved before in his career imo which explains his confidence in knowing he can easily KO Evans

Rampage is all wrong for rashad. All wrong.  Reminds me of when Page fought kevin randleman...another world class wrestler...learned maybe  one or two combinations and that was it. Rampage demolished kevin and walked through all his shots like he'll do evans.

Tried to shot, page sprawled got him in clinch and finished him....same fate for Evans if he doesn't get KO'd prior.

More hype than substance if you ask me.

Shogun won that fight no doubt, haven't seen to many worse decisions in boxing but Silva didn't fight this fight. Dana was protecting the cash cow that is Rashad Rampage, if Rashad had lost this fight there would be no Rampage Rashad and hes put too much into making this happen, the cracks are appearing in the UFC creditability

I agree with K-1, I thought exactly the same thing, watching that silva fight.  Rampage is a better standup fighter and less likely to get taken down.  Not a good combination to take into a fight where you've got to do what you just did, only better and you barely escaped the last one.  Rashad is extremely comical when he gets stunned.  Yet another crazy legs moment for the archives.

He was knocked out on his feet dude, if you knew anything about fighting you would know this is a condition where the guy is still standing responding, but not really 'there' it's also called rubber legs..the guy was no idea what is going on and where he is but is still somehow standing/slouching up before collapsing on the canvas. For Rashad, he managed to recover and get his marbles back togeether.

it's because he doesn't have rubber legs...and was conscious despite a knock out type hit...he was blessed with solid equalibrium at that instance

yes, the fight with wandy/page was last year, but they're both past their primes imo.   FIghters hit their primes at different ages.  I think Page's was 3-4 years ago.

Used to like him, but UF show really showed a cocky asshole side of him.  On the other hand, Rashad was level headed and intelligent as a coach.  I just think Rashad is too much for Page.  But, as we all know, anything can happen.  Pulling for Rashad though.

I agree, he fought to win the fight via the points system and nothing more. It was just take down then no progress on the ground, Silva gets up, repeat. Did that for two rounds then pretty much ran away. I was disappointed with it, wouldn't really call it a fight as such. Rashad never made any attempt to finish it imo

You can't be serious that Rashad isn't in Page's world.  Rashad has knocked out his fair share, both via punch and kick.  His wrestling is awesome, and his movement is fast.  He's had ONE loss.

Page is in trouble and he knows that.  Why do you think Page ALWAYS was antagonizing Rashad?  HE's Jealous of Rashad's youth and ability.... and that he is past his prime as a fighter.

I am judging Rampage on not just the show but his last few fights. He has been anything but impressive. He is like Balboa in Rocky 3, he has lost that instinct. Plus, Evens is much faster and younger. He took shots from Thiago that should have knocked him on his back and out, but didn't.

He is a much better natural athlete, there's no question..but he lacks the two most important thing 'Page possesses. A crazy chin made of steel and two cinderblocks for hands..ya ya I know rashad got the fluke overhand right on liddell  ::) but overall he's not really known for being a knockout artist.

JSB, there were two things that saved Rashad after he woke up from basically being KO'd on his feet....1. Silva gassed held up. 2. The fight wasn't a title fight and only went 3 instead of 5. If there was 4th round is would have been a replay of Machida all over again. Rashad doesn't have the knock out power to ko someone as big (and hard headed) as Rampage.
