Title: Study Says Women With Mate Get Heavier

It is widely known that women tend to gain weight after giving birth, but now a large study has found evidence that even among childless women, those who live with a mate put on more pounds than those who live without one.

Health Guide: Weight Control | OverweightThe differences, the scientists found, were stark.

After adjusting for other variables, the 10-year weight gain for an average 140-pound woman was 20 pounds if she had a baby and a partner, 15 if she had a partner but no baby, and only 11 pounds if she was childless with no partner. The number of women with a baby but no partner was too small to draw statistically significant conclusions.

There is no reason to believe that having a partner causes metabolic changes, so the weight gain among childless women with partners was almost surely caused by altered behavior. Moreover, there was a steady weight gain among all women over the 10 years of the study.

This does not explain the still larger weight gain in women who became pregnant. The lead author, Annette J. Dobson, a professor of biostatistics at the University of Queensland in Australia, suggested that physiological changes might be at work.

“Women’s bodies may adjust to the increased weight associated with having a baby,” Dr. Dobson said. “There may be a metabolic adjustment that goes on when women are pregnant that is hard to reverse. This would be more consistent with our findings than any other explanation.”

Sure...of course....they let themselves go because they feel that they don't need to look good anymore. They stop eating healthy and being active for the most part, they let themselves be unattractive and then they can't figure out why their other half cheats.  ::)

More to the point is why a woman (or man) loses the motivation to stay attractive for their partner.  I'd like to see a study correlating fat gain with how women rate their satisfaction with their marriage.

Once anyone becomes content with their life they start paying less attention to shallow things such as how great they look all the time so of course they'll put on a little weight. It's the same with guys though. A lot of guys slack at the gym or eat more junk once they get settled down. A lot of them come off the juice too.

until they get morbidly obese and frustrated about it. At that point they re not content with their life anymore and start being jealous of well built younger men (or women). People just have a hard time being both good workers, good parents, good citizen, yet staying healthy and fit at the same time.

It's always fascinating how people who passed their 30's, with well paying jobs and a "stable" family, are frustrated by younger healthier and more muscular men , or want to bang healthier and more fit women. Irony at its best again.

As fascinating as noticing younger men/women who, if muscular , healthy , fit,  STILL wish they could have the diplomas, skills and jobs of older men/women. Irony at its best again.

Basically people always want what they dont have and are very rarely content with what they have already. They also struggle putting it all together and maintaining it that way. They tend to be extremistic in one aspect of their life and overlook the others, thus preventing themselves from being balanced psychologically speaking.

Seriously when you think about it, out of shape men in their 30s to 60s who spent their life working are living a genuine hell when watching TV with all these sportsmen on steroids, ads and characters who are younger, more muscular and fiter than em. Yet they keep watching TV cause that's all they have to "release themselves". In fact it destroys the shallow remaining self esteem they still might have. It's like it almost totally erase all their life accomplishments and ridicule all their past endeavours. Nowadays you ve got to have it ALL or you ll be constantly reminded by TV and others that if there's something you did right, there are also tons of things you did wrong. Pretty tough to know "hapiness" in these societies.

Dont bother with this part so
being a good citizen = not beating the living shit ouf of every single individual you meet and who annoys you for some reason (in front of your family), and having a feeling of usefulness and accomplishment doing a job that fits closely your personality and your best and most developed skills instead of doing everyday "the only job you were able to stick to" and which doesnt benefit from your best psychological/physical capacities . that's what i meant by "good citizen", just to make it clear.

I'll agree with much of this but a lot of the reason juice-free 30+ year olds have a tough time with thier body has a lot to fo with metabolic and testosterone changes. It's just not as easy to stay in shape at 30+. I know first hand. I balance all of the above but I miss how much better i looked in my 20's. A few cycles would change that but I just can't seem to do it anymore. I've matured and feel a lot more guilty about doing juice now. Yea, my workouts are shit too and basically despise training.

It's all about balance really. If I'm gonna go gung ho with the bodybuilding thing again I will neglect other parts of my life I've acquired over the years.

You just sound burned out Flex.  Take a week or two off, address other issues (nutrition and sleep is essential just for my psych outlook, nevermind about 'gains').  I'm digging my little 30 mins/day and dogwalking cardio.  HARDCORE!!!

Probably. I've been at it almost 20 years. Post-juice days are HARD, hard to stay motivated. I do sleep very well though with naps included a lot of days. I think it's low test levels. lol

Its a known fact, as soon as a girl gets comfortable with you, she will gain 10-20lbs....Then blame it on you because your a bodybuilder and you eat alot.Girls are the best for not taking accountablity for there won actions.Jack said it best in "is hood as it gets" .To think like a woman, I just take reason and accountability out of the equation.
How many times have you asked a girl why she did something stupid, and all she has to say is "I dont know' lol .
I knew a girl once who said , that guy is fat adn gross, but she slept with him when she was drunk.I asked her why, and she said I dont know, lol.Women are beautiful creatures, but most of them really dont use there brain. They live by there emotions.
I know a girl who made $1000 in tips this New Years, and gambled it all away on the video poker machine. Now she is blaming it on her husband because she is unhappy in the relationship. The guy is a push over and kisses treats her well.
No matter what women do its always the mans fault, and there always unhappy.Women will see a guy like Ben Stiler in a movie who acts sweet all the time and say I want a guy like that. But if they had a guy like him they wouldnt want him because he is a push over.
All women especially pretty women want a man who is a  challenge.
Why do think alot of good looking women date black men.? Because most black guys dont give a fu#$ and are always a challenge.
But have you ever noticed that most girl will leave a nice guy to find herself, but stay with a guy who beats her up? I have known numerious women who were in abusive relationships for years yet stayed with the guy??????
They will tell everbody how mean the guy is, and how bad he treats her, yet she stays. You never see a girl complaining about how nice a guy treats her.oh no.If a girls hits me, I am out of the relationship right then and there, no questions asked !!!! I just leave and I wont say a word. But alot of women tolerate it...
Women are intereszxting creatures arent they, lol

Get your levels checked. It could well be diet.

I've been at it for 14 years, almost half my life (now 30), post-juice for 6 years. I really haven't given a fuck in the past few years but i still train when i have to and eat my meals when i have to. I don't talk about training to anyone except my training partner in the gym. This is organising training around 2 jobs so i could train 7am or 9pm. But yeh, the first few years are great and exciting now i couldn't really care but i like what i look like and that i stand out so i keep doing it.

I think Lee Priest said it once to a question about staying motivated he was like 'It's like a job you don't always like it but you still go to it'.

My diet is good. I go pretty low-mod carb through the weekdays with 300 g + protein and go high carb with sat and sun as a junk day. I just can't do only one junk day a week like I used too. I'm pretty committed to my meals mon-fri and still eat pretty high protein on the weekends. Just mix in a couple junk meals. I sleep really well, eat decent and train consistantly 5 times a week. There's really no chink in the armour unless you start looking deeper. With low test levels you're pretty much fuked from making any good gains. Don't get me wrong, I'm 5'9 225lbs at about 15% bf which is a bit fat for me. I used to maintain 240 and as high as 257 at one point at like 10-12% but yea i was juicing. I'm thinkin of getting blood work done again and tryin the  testosterone gel patches or cream to bump my test up to a healthy level. Anyone have any experience with those and if they even work. Sure, I can go start bumpin some test into my ass but in the end I'm not going to be any better off.
