Title: Pro Wrestling’s Hold On America:
Post by: Montague on January 07, 2010, 08:36:47 PM
from 1999:

I always enjoy watching past interviews & documentaries – reliving the eras they discuss, and comparing what happened/what was said to now.

My favorite part of the first clip is when they describe the Kindergarten kid who was punished for saying, “Suck it!” in school. . .right after the host seeking confirmation from the white-trash family that, “So we’ve got a generation of kids yelling suck it?”

Everybody wanted to put all of the blame on Vince, and he was on next to immediately laugh it off.

Gold!

I remeber this. Very interesting interviews. I hate the media though. They exploit only the bad shit in wrestling.

Except when wrestling isn't popular - then they (media) don't care.

Vince is pretty spot on when he says that even bad publicity is still publicity.
Controversy is many times the biggest mainstream exposure he's generated over the years.
And it's worked on several occasions.

It's when people don't care and nobody notices you at all - that's the worst scenario.

Vince is very shrud, very smart businessman. He knows his stuff. He has a team of bulldog lawyers that look after his best interests. In the end, the general public can say what they want and think what they want but Vince is and always will be a billionaire.

That professional (fake) wrestling is, and has been for a while, so popoular in America, this is a sign that the end is nigh.
