From what I can tell, the GOP has no one.
Unless Thune really gears up, its going to be another anti-vote for me.
I am a no go for Romney and Huck so far. Those two are are pathetic.

They don't care about people knowing this stuff, especially if the majority of it is fearmongering. Most of the public will remain blissfully ignorant, so they really don't care. It's much easier for them to marginalize this stuff under the guise of entertainment than to hide it because they cannot. If they bring it out into the public consciousness, then they can marginalize and discredit it. It's information that is much safer in the open to them.
On a similar note, I think that this is basically the whole purpose behind shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
In a a sane society, people would be outraged and 'mad as hell' about the daily outrages, fake terror threads and fake flu scares every day, every night. But hey, they can tune in to Jon Stewart, liberal do-gooder with the cornball jokes, and feel good about themselves because they are smart little liberals that can just all 'laugh it off' - laugh it off right in tune with the 'laugh track' which is just blatantly there - anyone telling me that laughter is spontaneous needs to get his or her head examined.

It encourages infantile behavior. Little kids don't want to be serious - they want to be able to play and laugh about everything. This attitude - they're instilling into young adults and middle-aged adults alike - through programs like The Daily Show and Colbert.
