this was the first show i ever went to.i was still in high school,at the time i thought platz should have won,but now years later after looking at pics i feel it was between callendar and padilla,but wouldnt have been disappointed if platz would have won,franco did have best back,though,but that was about it.

a fixed show as was 1980.

in an article in i believe mucle and fitness at the time,the reporter,which was i think ricky wayne,said not one judge gave franco a first place vote,but he had a lot of consistent 2nds and the other top 5 were scored all over the place,and this was supposedly how franco won.

Tom's back was exceptional just not on par with his lower body size wise if it were he would have been way ahead of his time

Fantastic Shots ND, Yip Danny was in Excellent Condition in 1981, Quads withstanding Francos Extra-ordinary Muscularity for the Era was his Trump card as his Quads as you said were Crap, Francos back, Chest, Delts and Abs were on that day.

Franco may have been the best poser, he showed what he DID have to best advantage. Padilla was better, but a bit drawn, his normally huge pecs are flatter. Best arms in top 6 though and legs second to Platz. I have Platz, Padilla and Callender as top 3. Take your pick.

while i dont believe franco should have won,what he did bring would give him a better chance by todays standards,conditioning and the best back onstage.padilla and callendar were the most complete though.

Franco looked great other than the GYNO. Should have been marked down for this big time. This was DANNY's show.
