Title: Acupuncture
Post by: Butterbean on March 25, 2010, 09:51:41 AM
I've heard many positive things about it.

Recently someone told me that it is very effective in helping people to stop smoking...mainly by sticking them in the ear area.

Anyone have any experience w/acupuncture?

I've been interested in hearing first hand experiences with this for a long time ... I truly think it has to work but I wonder if it's something that would need some type of a "maintenance" thing ?

For the smoking thing what I was told was that they have to go a total of 3 times over a year (like 50.00 - 80.00 per session [much cheaper than a year of cigs]) but should be able to stop smoking or cut way down from the first visit.  She said the only people she knows that started smoking again were the ones that either didn't go back for follow-up and/or just simply wanted to smoke.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, very interesting.  I have a friend who used to go and she agrees that it works.

yea I'm not normal (like you needed me to say that). I had one cig before the marathon to calm my nerves. Not a heavy smoker but none the less.
