Well, "these days"-- with the Type 1 Diabetes and all the hammering on his kidneys, I'm just wondering if he's still around and still hits the weights.
Some guys from the 80's (and earlier) are still in great shape. Others, well... not so great.
-
looked his best when he turned pro
-
Better yet, where will he be tomorrow??
-
Probably watching porno and eating corn chips.
-
I know Tim had a Heart transplant in the 90s not sure what he is up to today , would love to contact him being a diabetic myself.
-
Looked fantastic in the pic.

I saw him in L.A. 4 years ago, so unless "quite some time" means within the last 4 years...

15 years bro , got real tight control over it though.
My blood work comes back as normal because of this tight control , the things that can happen if not looked after scare me enough to keep me on the straight and narrow most of the time ;D
Yup everyday , i think the "BB lifestyle" helps me alot. :)

Bummer. Good that you're keeping it under control. I'm sure lifting and having a more balanced diet than the average person helps you big time.
-
That explains why WillGrant is so huge.........he injects insulin everyday!! :o

Tim was a freak...
Tim Belknap was born in Rockford, Illinois, in 1958. As a youngster, he was very active and gravitated to sports where strength was involved.
As Tim developed as a weightlifter, he utilized the nutritional knowledge gained as a type-one diebetic to organize meals for more muscular growth. While his intensions were to become more massive, he occasionally suffered from adverse reactions to his insulin injections, resulting in the loss of appetite.
Because of this, Belknap, at age 18, decided he would eat as much as possible when he could. He faithfully followed advice found in Muscle magazine and began to build a championship physique, recalling that he knew he had "serious genetic problems".
A few years spent following this approach, Tim, at the height of five-feet, four-inches tall, and weighing 230 pounds in off-season, began competing in physique contests. In 1981, he cut his bodyweight below 200 pounds and won the AAU Mr. America Light-Heavyweight and overall. He continued on to win the 1984 NABBA Mr. Universe short-man class, the 1985 NABBA Mr. Universe overall, along with the 1985 NABA World Championship.
Belknap's competitive bodybuilding career came to an abrupt end in the early 1990s when, at age 37, he underwent open-heart surgery. However, his battle against diabetes and heart disease never affected his love for the sport or willingness to compete.
-
Belknap has to be one of the most influential bodybuilders of all time. Definitely doesnt get his share of respect
-
"Tim used to manage Mid Valley Athletic Club's (Now Club 360 in Reseda, CA) fitness department in 1993-4 until he got fired or quit due to being sued several times for cheating and stealing people's money. I was a trainer there when he was hired. He and his wife made me hate that place. He was also thrown out of Gold's for fighting in the 80's. "
-
There can be only one Tim,and we all know who he is! :D

'Roid rage?
He had a reputation as a serious asshole.
My guess is his personality would've been caustic even if he never used gear.
Maybe being a diabetic contributed to it.

I absolutely love his deca'd-to-the-gills looking bod (no Joe Schmoe Weider)

Tim Wes was born in Massasachewssettessets, in 1858. As a queer youngster, he was very active and gravitated to men where strength was involved..."
Oh man, there's so much potential here but I just cbf lol.
-
Tim raised high end boa constrictors for a while, then dropped everything to be a missionary and minister. I wonder how that worked out. Palumbo supposedly talks reptiles with him sometimes, but Tim won't go on the show.
-
Belknap was totally jacked. Crazy vascular. Separation. Dense. He had everything. Not very pleasing but damn. Extremely strong too.
-
There's no doubt Tim would have faired much better as a pro in the last 15 years than he did back in his day, to me he was a better look than Branch Warren ever was with a similar build.
I always preferred the judging from the 80s and early 90s where shape counted for something, the walking veiny blobs like Branch and even Belknap, to me just look like walking side effects but that's modern bodybuilding, in my own opinion they all look like shit compared to Arnold, Haney etc, Yates 93 was the last time I believe shape counted for anything in the judging, from 94 on they all looked like guys with good genetics that just took more and more drugs, making them bigger but not better as their waists and guts blew out as much as everything else.

agreed... I think he was a short guy w a huge chip on his shoulder, and started juicing because of it. THe gear was a symptom, not the cause
