You got a link Max? He was one of the greats.
Peter McGough reported this on Ironage.us. It doesn't really say much more than I have.
I also got an e-mail going around from John Balik to Boyer Coe, Gene Mozee, Mike Uritz and Mike Neveux. Nothing is posted on Dennis's website yet but there is a letter about his health problems and cancer diagnosis. http://www.tinerino.com/
Dennis was one of the guys still competing when I first started training and was among those who inspired me (Dennis, Boyer, Sergio, Arnold, Jim Haisop, Padilla, Grymko). I only met him once at Gold’s Venice and had lunch with him and Grymko but he seemed like a great guy.

April 2010
There has been much speculation as to the health and welfare of Dennis Tinerino. We thought it might be best to post this letter, which was recently sent by pastor Graham Cathers to friends and ministry partners:
Dear Friends,
I hope this letter finds you blessed and doing well in this New Year. I wanted to take just a moment of your time to talk about a mutual friend of ours, Dennis Tinerino.
You may or may not know that Dennis was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor last year. The first reports seemed hopeful for a full recovery, but since that since that time the mass has increased and a change in the medication was prescribed, which has stopped working.
I’ve had the privilege of being Dennis and Anita’s pastor over the past several years, and they are the real deal. They are two of the most generous people I’ve ever met with their time, compassion, and resources.
Dennis is a prophet and evangelist who lives by preaching the Gospel. God has led him to cut back on his itinerant ministry in order to spend intimate time with the Lord in prayer, standing for his healing. This cuts back on his income to keep the ministry going.
While his health insurance covers some of the expenses, many of the doctors’ visits, x-rays, procedures, and prescriptions are not covered. As his friend, I would like to ask you to consider helping him in two ways:
First, would you have your intercessory prayer ministry begin to uphold Dennis at this time for his complete recover? I know Dennis and Anita would be grateful for your partnership in this capacity.
Second, would it be possible for you or your church to assist Dennis with these ongoing expenses? Should you want to help with a love offering, Dennis and Anita would be most grateful.
Thanks again for your friendship and partnership in ministry.
In His love,
Pastor Graham Cathers

When I first move to Southern California in the early eighties Dennis came in for a workout at Barlow's gym one morning. It was a hole in the wall place and only a few people there. After some light training he took off his shirt and hit some poses. He was wide has heck. He asked the manager there, Brian Busian, who Dennis seemed to know previous what he thought. Brian said that his legs looked a little light under his track pants. Well, you know bodybuilders. The pants dropped to the ankles and the quads shots were hit. For me, having no experience with world class bodybuilders was shock at how big his quads seemed to me and how they looked so separated and ripped that it look like each muscle group was piece in.
Dennis was part of the glory days of bodybuilding. Unfortunately, gone forever.

Those guys from what I understand from history were some good people. You always hate to hear of of one of the legends passing away.

I remember Dennis from my starting days of bodybuilding in '82. He seemed like a class act.

E-mail I got from Mike Uretz:
Dave
It’s very sad news but Dennis had stomach cancer 20 years ago and he beat it. He really turned his life around and he did great work with at risk kids all these tears. He was not afraid of death in the least. Dennis had a big personality and he was always a leader at Gold’s and later at the World Gym at 2210 Main street. He rests in peace.

RIP Dennis Tinerino.
I remember reading an excerpt from Joe Roark's column in Flex many years back about Dennis who was once asked to do a beer commerical for decent money but he refused as he did not drink nor approved of drinking. A good man who stood by his principles. :'(

Didn't know Dennis but saw him alot in the gym back in 80 to 83. He seemed really nice and smiled alot. I remember seeing him talking to someone and kicking the ground you know like when you are a little kid and shy. He always looked really good.

Although his face filled out a bit Dennis never seemed to age over the years. Always pretty much looked the same.

Is his manager Kenny still alive? “The pen is mightier than the muscle in this particular occasion. Remember the golden rule. He who was the gold makes the rules.” What a sleaze bag! Dennis looked great at the 1980 Olympia

He was one of the first guys I ever heard talk honestly about steroids. I saw him being interviewed on a public access show on cable television. He talked about being “held hostage” by the drugs.
RIP

Totally forgot Dennis died and thought no not another one, until i opened the thread and jogged my memory.
Dead 13 years already!

Yes, PIP Dennis. Just looked and he was billed as 6'-1.5" and even 6'-2". But looking at photos next to Arnold, I would say he was around 5'-10" or maybe 5'-11".
