Run around, kick a ball, repeat.
If you're really mad at someone, try to trip them when they have the ball....but be prepared to have a ref show you a colored card.

That about sums it up.

the game allows for spontaneity often missing from the "tactical, stats based" american sports.

Gay dance clubs allow for a lot of spontaneity as well.
Spontaneous originates from the Greek root "Spectivus," which means "walks like Peggy Bundy."

Wiggan is a shitty team but that was quite an accomplishment

Spontaneity? Hahaha, 90 minutes of kicking a ball up and down a field on the hope that someone might score a goal sure is entertaining and spontaneous. Let's not forget how a guy flops around on the ground like he's dying every time someone bumps into him only to make a miraculous recovery 20 seconds after being carted off on a stretcher.   ::)

anyone who thinks football isnt a tactical sport doesnt understand the game...simple as.

However the bit about half of them being total fags that fall over far too much is true...and its getting worse, I really am getting sick of the diving and play acting, always thought it was just for the eurotrash lot, seems its beginning to infect english football as well.

I grudgingly accept that chelsea were the best side in the league this year (being a fulham fan I had to drive past them all dancing in the streets today) and deserved it. At least it wasnt Man UfuckinNited again.

As opposed to what? 'football' where the game stops every 5 seconds? Baseball where they just keep throwing and throwing all day long yawn, or basketball where no one cares about points till near the end of the game as theres so much being scored anyway ::)

It's really entertaining watching a ball get kicked up and down the field for 90 minutes on the hopes that 1 goal might be scored. Really entertaining. Throw in the massive amount of flopping that the average soccer pussy does nowadays and what you've got is a theatrical play.

Why are there so many americans that are quick to trashtalk "soccer" in every thread? I mean, if you don't like it then ok. I don't like american football, baseball, hockey and unless I'm playing with friends basketball is also boring to me. However I don't really feel a need to express how much these sports bore me. So BF, why the hate towards soccer? Do you just really really hate it? lol

the talent level in states goes into football.

Reggie Bush is nothing but the Ronaldinho of North America but guys of his level wont touch a soccer field as children...so men's soccer gets 3rd n 4th tier athletes in NA.

Americans are quick to trash talk it? Anytime a thread pops up about American sports, the Eurotrash on here flood it and start singing the praises of soccer while bashing whatever American sport the thread is about. And no, I don't hate soccer. I even played it for years when I was growing up. I just don't think it's as good as the Europeans make it out to be. The World Cup is entertaining, sure, but most games are boring, drawn out affairs where the action is a bunch of dudes passing a ball around the field.

And a lot of kids play soccer growing up. AYSO and travel soccer was huge the town I group up in. It's just most transition to other sports as they get older.

Well ok then. People like different things, thats normal. My brother in law is from Chicago/Michigan and I tried to watch some american football and basketball with him but IMO I thought it was kind of boring and too many commercial breaks (ridiculous really). Guess it's a cultural thing.

Soccer is 1000x more fun to play than watch, in my opinion.

If the fucking infidels weren't so aggressive in trying to shove it down our throats, adult males wouldn't hate it nearly as much.

I will say, though, that since we've got more sports channels now, the hatred isn't quite as bad, because we're no longer limited in our viewing options when ESPN or whatever decides they want to go after the Latino vote.

Agreed on soccer being much more fun to play than watch.  Agreed on being bored by baseball (I don't even watch anymore).

It's popular among our younger set. Millions of us have our kids playing soccer and in my house, the rule is that my kid would have to play until she turns 10.  She loves the sport, though, so keeping her interested won't be a problem. :)

I think it's great for developing balance and spacial awareness in young kids and the footwork required to be successful in soccer will benefit kids in many other sports they may someday try.

I'm in England myself and know fuck all about the game. Played by northern inbreds and gays. Real men play something like rugby, Aussie Rules or American Football.

Yeah it's pathetic, but why flail the arm towards the opponent's face if it's known what's going to happen? Just wondering.

Soccer is popular in the UK because you get away from 'er indoors down the pub, as there's nowhere else to go since it's raining 95% of the time, and talk a lot of worthless shite with your mates over pints of some of the most disgusting mass brewed beer ever produced, and you only have to pay actual attention when the commentator's voice rises 3 octaves and every other chip hoovering offence in the place puts on their monkey face and starts with the gwonyersels.  Soccer's great.

LOL!

Even though I loved playing, I rarely let anyone know that I ever played (and even once played on a championship team!), because of exactly what you said.  ;)

These days, it's all about my daughter, though. The kid has wicked footskills for her age (7), but I'm making her play one more season of rec before allowing her to play for a travel team. One local club really wants her to come try out, but I don't think she's ready for a 20-25 game schedule just yet...and I know I'm not.  Youth soccer and softball/baseball are flat-out insane in this area.
