Using a nuclear explosion would create a whole new set of problems. Pretty sure that's been taken in consideration already.

The Russians said they have used it often and it works. As a matter of fact the reason this idea is being thrown around is due to the Russians. I guess they will have to weigh the options....either let it leak and hope something eventually will be found to stop it (all the while trying to deal with the enormous environmental, business, health damage or try the small nuke and hope that brings it immediately to an end.

Blowing up a hole that was drilled in the middle of the ocean that is now leaking massive amounts of oil with a nuclear device just mighttttttttt leave us off in a worse situation than when we started. Call me crazy.

Actually many fel that using a nuke will completely stop the leak and obliterate it.So we have some environmental concerns,Id say pouring oil into the gulf has just as many.I will gladly eat 5 lb shrimp with two heads over oily shrimp any day.
