Title: Diet, exercise, supplementation and mental health
Post by: Princess L on October 23, 2010, 01:20:28 PM
Every Saturday, my public radio airs 'The People's Pharmacy'.  I catch bits and pieces in my car when running errands, but rarely get to hear the whole show - it really is a good program though.  Today's show was ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!!!  They and their guest (a Dr.) discussed diet, exercise, supplementation and their effects on not only mental health, but overall heath.  There was extensive discussion on fish oil, the B vitamins, vitamin D, nutrition, and herbs.

I highly recommend taking the time to listen to the show.  You won't be sorry.  I promise.  :-*

Interesting the Doctor mentioned the Mediterranean Diet - there‘s a lot to be said for it.
I also appreciate that she distinguished between general fish oil and EPA/DHA, specifically.
Will Brink mentioned that difference on here a few years ago, and sadly, it went pretty much unnoticed.

Poor Will.

I also did not realize there’s a two-way conversion between EPA & DHA.
I knew that one converts to the other, but not vice versa.

Good listen.
Thanks!

Yah, it probably did go unnoticed  ::)  shame  :-\  I've been trying to drive that home for years.  I didn't realize the ALA conversion was THAT LOW - either way, another point I've been trying make for years.

Dr. Barry Sears (Zone) was quite the pioneer in the fish oil arena years ago.  I was privileged to be able to take one of his medical certification courses even though I'm not a medical professional.
