I have taken a seasonal retail job for extra Christmas cash, so I worked on Black Friday.  Fortunately, I had to work at my regular job, so I only worked 4pm-10pm at the store.  By the time I arrived, all the excitement had passed, all the teeth and eyeballs had been swept up, and the hardcore shoppers had all gone home.  It was much like any other day.   :D

going through it right now.  Also the new manager i had for the last 4-5 months was let go yesterday.  I got the call and was told that the new manager will be in today.  He's been with the company about 5 months.  I was thanked for looking after and running the store and that there will be some training opportunities next year.   ::)

wait wait. They let a manager go this time of year. Either loss prevention issue or not making numbers or something. That's a slap in the face for not being promoted. Are you in a big volume store?

it was a performance issue.  my store is the 2nd highest mall volume store in the district. I've been with the company 1.5 years and lead the southeast in sales and big ticket sales (tempurpedic beds and also massage chairs).  I was /am pissed.  My DM asked if I was ok with the new guiy  being my boss.  After a long pause, i told her i was very dissapointed.  i'm looking for a new job

GOOD for you for telling the DM. I don't blame ya, and guess who will be training the new manager...I'm sure you know this already. Fucking MOST dm's have their head up their ass and they get their weekends off (oh big whoop) they leave a few voicemails on saturday and sunday to cheer the team on, I usually deleted it after a few seconds and usually called them twats (no not directly to them but hearing their voicemails)LOL. Don't miss being a store manager for shit.

my DM is supposed to be back in this week.  I like the new guy, met him a few times before etc.  The thing that got me was the commnet, "how do you feel about him as your new manager?" and the "There will be traiing opportunites in the next year and you are an essential part of our business."

I need to spit on something

I went to Walmart and a few other stores because I had never went before.  I will not be going back though, I like shopping online better and they have the same black friday deals online (at least Walmart did anyway).  I could have got the tv I wanted with a few clicks instead of waiting 6 hours in line like some people did in Walmart lol.

ok here it goes.  We have a girl that works for a vendor of ours.  She displays her prodcut for our company.  She is very nice and kinda cute.  So one of my seasonal store associates comes in a bit early and stops right by her.  He is talking to her and and after at least 5 minutes I start to get annoyued becuase he is monopolizing her time.  He's not talking about the product toher or anything and the fact that he starts to talk in a low voice/whisper and sly smiles I figure what he's doing.  Plus since I am in my assigned zone which is 3 feet away I can pick up o the convo.  So I walk over there and tell him that if he is here early to go to the back or to come back at his scheduled time so that she can concentrate on helping the clients coming in the door and doing her job.  He comes back saying that it is only a 5 minute conversation and he still has a minute with her.  I tell him his 5 minutes were up 5 minnutes ago and it's time he left her be.  He comes around and akss me why I'm "all up in his private conversation" to which i replied that he isn't here to have private conversations, he is here to sell.  If he wants a private conv with her then he can take a break when she does and they can do whatever.  He gets a bit upset, raised his voice a bit and then says "let's go to the back."  I said a little louder "yeah, let's go to the back."  While back there he is trying to twist myt words and put words in my mouth.  I stop him cold and tell him to think carefully about what I said and what he thinks he is trying to do.  He then says, "what if I was trying to buy something from her and learn about what I am buying?"  I told him i overheard most of the convo and that's not what you were talking about.  He starts saying i hvae no right to butt into his PRIVATE conversations.  To which I retort "oh so it was a PRIVATE conversation not a business one.  He starts to puff up his chest.  I told him to say what he wants to say and afterI am done this convo is over.  He starts in the the "let me finsih let me finsih" routine and after he keeps trying to weasle out of stuff I finally break in and tell him that this is my store and what happens in my store is my responsibility and if he keeps trying this act up he will get promoted to the unemployment line.  The only reason I didn't fire him on the spot is becauase I didn't want to fill out the paperwork right then.  I was the only manager on the floor.  He didn't realize that even though I am pretty laid back and easy going that I will enact swift and decisive punishment.  It felt good to yell.

I am working a seasonal position this year, and I had to protect myself from my true GetBigginess coming out on Sunday.  A mother and her son came in...fat kid, probably about 12.  Granted, the store was warmer than usual.  The kid (named Landon...good grief Charlie Brown...any kid with a last name as a first name is invariably going to the be "pick your nose and eat it" type) got overheated...so much so that the mom got a t-shirt off the rack, had Landon go into a changing room, take off his Bill Cosby looking sweater and put on the t-shirt...then gave me the tag so I could ring it up.

As I rang up the t-shirt, Landon, now having recovered from his mini heat stroke, said, in a very snotty tone, "I don't know how you can even work here, it's so hot."  The seasonal retail professional in my just politely smiled...the GetBigger inside replied, "I can work here because I'm not a morbidly obese piece of sh*t that has to be kept on ice to keep from rotting."

I feel so much better now.   :D

here is a part of the letter I am writing for supporting documentation to HR.  It got a bit heated. Names have been changed to protect the innocent, lol

Last week I had a conversation with Dick, in which I had to take him into the stockroom after he disregarded my instruction to leave our in-house vendors alone and to end his long conversation with her so that she could concentrate on her assignment.  He became irate and began to badmouth the other employees and went on to state that he was trying to work “his game” with her.  I told him that he is to have limited exposure to the vendors and to concentrate on his job as they should concentrate on their roles.

Tonight’s situation was markedly worse.  During the ending part of my shift, a lost child came into the store and was upset.  Dick went across to one of the kiosks and asked the vendor to call for security.  When the 2nd assistant manager Sally inquired what the issue was to Dick, he told her what had happened.  She then let him know that if that were to happen again to simply let her know so that the issue can be handled at our store instead of involving vendors that have more limited resources.  He goes to the cash wrap and mutters some unbecoming words near our cashiers.  The situation was resolved with the child and Sally requested that he stay in his assigned zone.  He proceeds shortly thereafter to leave his zone and almost run into Sally and myself in the process.

On his return, Sally again politely reminds him to stay in his assigned zone and that the other staff members will assist the customers as they progress through the store.  At this time, he begins to berate her and raise his voice to her.  I am standing approximately three to four feet away.  He irately starts to yell at her and call her “ignorant, stupid and useless.”  He then proceeds to tell her that she is “worthless and unable to manage.” He follows this with “You better check yourself before I check you.”  This is the point in which I intercede and have him go to the back stockroom as I felt that these words were meant to be physically terroristic.

Once in the back stockroom his demeanor became very aggressive and hostile.  He started to point his finger into her face and continue to barrage her with ugly insults including calling her a “worthless fake bitch.”  I at this point physically come between them as I could see that she was frightened and I wanted to avoid a physical confrontation between him and her.  I told him to calm down and talk to me about what is going on.  He then starts to confront me and begins to accuse me of treating him unfairly and that he will “put me in my place.”  He also began to threaten me by saying that he “will beat my ass like a bitch” and “make sure that I “know who the real man is here.”  I tell him that he is no longer employed here and to collect his belongings and the store.  He continues his verbal assault and says continues to threaten the both of us.  I have Sally call mall security as I feared he would retaliate against her.  He then made some chest puffing motions and started to bow his chest to me and said “just wait, I’ll be your mortician.”

I repeatedly asked him to leave the store and when he finally began to leave he was continuing to berate us and it was loud enough to become a nuisance.  He then stops at the threshold of the store and continues his demonstration and I then ask him five more times to just leave. Just after, mall security comes and talks to him and request that he leaves the property immediately.  He mutters that “we’ll see him again.”

Sally, understandably, was visibly shaken and security offered to escort her to and from her car if need be since Dick knows the car she drives and where she generally parks.
