I doubt she (or anyone else) runs away with the Republican nomination, but she'll be a major player if she runs. I actually think she's better doing exactly what she's doing now (supporting candidates and talking about issues).
Huckabee: Palin May 'Run Away With' GOP Nomination in 2012
Thursday, 25 Nov 2010
DES MOINES, Iowa — Sarah Palin, the telegenic Republican who exasperates and delights voters about equally, is dropping ever more hints of a presidential bid, including a visit Saturday to the key state of Iowa.
The official purpose of her trip to suburban Des Moines is to promote her new book, "America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag." But Democratic and Republican insiders will search for every possible hint of whether she will seek the nomination to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012.
Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee, has fed such speculation in recent days. She told ABC's Barbara Walters she thinks she could beat Obama, adding, "I'm looking at the lay of the land now."
In a separate interview, Obama told Walters, "I don't think about Sarah Palin." He added that Palin has "a strong base of support in the Republican Party, and I respect those skills."
Palin will attend a second book-signing event next week in Iowa, which holds the nation's first presidential caucuses in 13 months.
Some political pros suspect it's a tease, a way for Palin to keep drawing big crowds to her lucrative TV show and books while avoiding the nitty-gritty work of organizing a national campaign, wooing hard-to-impress caucus voters and raising millions of dollars.
Others warn against underestimating her ambition or her ability to snatch the GOP nomination from a dozen men who covet it.
"She may run away with it, and that's something everybody has to be prepared for," said Mike Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa Republican caucus. He is weighing another presidential run, and some feel he wants to set high expectations for a possible rival.
While Palin's fans are loyal and legion, the prospect of her running for president alarms some Republicans. They think Palin is too polarizing and too inexperienced to defeat Obama, even if Republicans in general can maintain the momentum of their powerful performance in this month's midterm elections.
Her foreign policy gaffe Wednesday kept the question alive. She declared on Glenn Beck's syndicated radio show that the United States has to stand with "our North Korean allies" in connection with tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Her mistake was quickly corrected by her host. But it drew immediate fire from liberal bloggers who cited it as an example of her lack of foreign policy expertise. Newspapers in Asia and Europe echoed the criticism. The Times of India says Palin "did it again," while London's Daily Mail says she "may want to brush up on her geography."
The conservative U.S. website The Weekly Standard came to Palin's defense, pointing out that "she correctly identified North Korea as our enemy literally eight seconds before the mix-up."
At home, polls show voters deeply divided over Palin. A recent AP-GfK poll found that 46 percent of Americans view her favorably while 49 percent hold an unfavorable view. The portion holding a "very unfavorable" view heavily outweighs those with a "very favorable" view.
In the poll, 79 percent of self-described Republicans said they like Palin. That suggests she might do well in GOP primaries, although she has some work to do in Iowa.
In exit polls of Iowa Republicans who voted this month, 21 percent said they'd like to see Huckabee win the 2012 caucus. Another 21 percent named Mitt Romney, and 18 percent picked Palin.
Palin has given mixed signals about her intentions. She recently granted interviews to ABC and The New York Times, even as she vowed not to speak again with CBS News anchor Katie Couric, whose 2008 interview left Palin seemingly unable or unwilling to name a newspaper or magazine she reads regularly.
Palin's speeches and book-signing parties typically are carefully controlled affairs, with reporters kept at a distance. But if she is to compete in early voting states such as Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, she will have to mingle with inquisitive voters in scores of living rooms and small gatherings, experienced strategists say.
"At some point in time, if she's a serious candidate, she has to do what other candidates do, and that's engage people one on one," said veteran Iowa GOP activist Steve Scheffler. "You may be a rock star, but if you don't have the mechanics, it's difficult."
Huckabee, an ordained minister who ran an intense grass-roots campaign in Iowa before falling to eventual GOP nominee John McCain, agreed.
"People in Iowa and New Hampshire are not star-struck because somebody is running for president," he said. "They will ask the hard questions and they will put people through the wringer."
It's possible, however, that Palin's high visibility — boosted by frequent appearances on Fox News and her new TV show on the TLC network, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" — will let her play by different rules. No other potential GOP candidate can touch off a media frenzy with a brief comment on Facebook or Twitter, as she can. Palin's golden touch extended to her daughter Bristol, whom voters repeatedly brought back for more "Dancing with the Stars" despite her limited talent.
Before the TV hit's final show, in which she finished third, Bristol Palin said winning the contest "would be like a big middle finger to all the people out there that hate my mom and hate me."
Sarah Palin's record certainly has its dents. Some Republicans partly blame her for painful Senate losses in Nevada and Delaware, where she endorsed tea party upstarts who won the GOP nomination but lost to vulnerable Democrats. Closer to home, she was embarrassed when her Alaska GOP rival, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, won re-election with a write-in campaign after a Palin-backed challenger had won the party nomination.
Many are still bewildered by Palin's abrupt decision in July 2009 to step down as Alaska's governor. If she didn't want to finish one term as governor of a sparsely populated state, they ask, how badly can she want to be president, and how well could she serve?
Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine recently told the Kennebec Journal: "I think she likes being a celebrity commentator for Fox, and a speaker, and being able to provide for her family. It's a lot easier to charge people up than to actually govern."
Former first lady Barbara Bush said Palin seems happy in Alaska and "I hope she'll stay there."
In Iowa, some doubt that Palin can skate by on her fame while Romney, Huckabee and others go door-to-door, day after day.
"Is she going to try to organize on star power, which is problematic?" asked Ed Failor Jr., head of Iowans for Tax Relief. "She really could be a very good candidate," he said, "but there are a lot of decisions she needs to make about how to proceed with the caucus process."
Palin keeps only a few advisers close to her, led by her husband, Todd. She told the New York Times Magazine that if she runs for president, "the organization would have to change."
Bob Vander Plaats, who heads The Family Leader, an Iowa umbrella group of evangelical Christian organizations, said Palin appeals to many but must do some ground work.
"There's a big difference between coming to Iowa and signing a book and coming to Iowa and saying you want to be commander in chief and leader of the free world," he said. He said the last celebrity candidate in Iowa was former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who fizzled badly.
"It didn't play well when he came with his rope lines and his motorcades," Vander Plaats said. "People wanted to sit at the kitchen table with him."
Terry Holt, a Washington-based Republican campaign strategist, said Palin "is a force to be reckoned with." She's doing some things that a candidate needs to do, he said, and "all the things that kingmakers need to do."
Following a midterm election in which voters embraced non-mainstream Republicans in many states, Holt said, "it would be a mistake to sell her short."

On the issues that matter, I agree w her on 9 out of ten things.

On the issues that matter, I agree w her on 9 out of ten things.
What would those be exactly?
-
Palin's got no interest in running and even less interest in public service
that woman is all about the money and she likes to sit on the sidelines and pick silly fights with people
She seems to really enjoy her pettty little feuds
Here's a short lst of her fueds off the top of my head: Walt Monegan, David Letterman, Levi Johnston, The Bush's, Joe Miller, one of her neighbor (can't recall the name), Katie Couric, Murkowski, Mitt Romney, McCains people, Emily's List, etc...
there is absolutely nothing presidential about her at all
-
50 percent of us feel the same way about Hoops-in-Chief.
-

She's pretty much right on the issues. It's too bad she has become so polarizing.
She has also lost the "outsider" angle, because she's now caught up in national politics and profiting from her national exposure. Doesn't make her wrong, but coming from outside the beltway made her more appealing (at least to me).

I can't think of even one "issue" that she's "right" about
she's uniformed, speaks in sweeping generalities and get's stumped when pressed for details
-
Priceless straw.
-
Priceless straw.
care to articulate ....
I can't think of one issue where Palin can give a detailed and cogent point of view
I also can't think of any politician that seeks out petty feuds like she does
she's a child and she appeals to other petty children such as herself

Never has Huckabee been more right!

On energy issues alone I would vote for her over the pie in the sky green fantasies pushed by obama and his ilk.
-
The best thing this woman could do for the true liberty movement is shut up and take a hike.

Be honest
You would vote for her regardless of what she said or did
The dumber she is the more you like her

Straw I would vote for death row inmate over obama if it came down to it.

Of course you would
You're completely irrational and have a very loose grip on reality

Why? At least an inmate can harm us. Bama is doing to us what al queda could only dream of.

statements like this just demonstrates that you're simply not playing with a full deck
you're not a dangerous type of nut (as far as we know) but you're not tethered to reality
your irrational hatred of all things Obama is the equivalent of your irrational love of all things Palin
opposite sides of the same crazy coin

If Palin takes the GOP nom in 2012, you are guaranteed another 4 years of Obama and ridiculous Fed policies.

if she's stupid enough to run she'll be eviscerated by her fellow Repubs in the primaries
she proved she had no interest in public service when she quit her job as governor
the only reason she'll even feign a run will be to keep her little cottage industry of being a "potential candidate" going in order to keep squeezing cash out of a small but vocal group of nitwits, bible thumpers and commie hunters who seem to hang on her every word

Yes, but in the USA, don't Democrats have the ability to vote in Republican primaries and vice versa?
If so, she could very well win the primaries, which would ensure another Obama term in the Whitehouse

No, every state does not have an open primary.

Yep. And if one more dumb shit republican says how awesome she's gonna be for america by snatching up the nomination and handing it to obama...
Screw it... I'm gonng join the Palin 2012 movement. let's give you morons what you want - Palin on the presidential ticket. Let the world mock her, let Obama destory her in debates, let her show us all what a complete dumbass she is.
At the very least, we'd all be able to say "You got what you wanted - palin ran - and she lost". Then you will FINALLY regain some high standards for 2016, and you may not run a complete dummy.
So let's do it. palin 2012. Who's in?
-
240 - lets say its Huck, Newt, Romney, Palin
Who do you go for?
-

barbour. that's who.
If you dorks put 3 moderates and one dummy on the ticket, you deserve 4 more years of obama.

What if he is not one of the choices?
Personally, I think Romney des not have a chance due to th health care stuff, plus he is stale.
Newt is old hat and is susecptible to meltdowns.
Hucklebee is slick enough by 2
Thune - you know my feelings, but I don't see the fre in the belly from him.
Barbour -I likehim but hink he is too red neck for places like Ohio, Nevada, NM, and other states the GOP needs. I could be wrong though.
Jindle - I like him a lot. I would happily vote for him.
Sarah - depends on the economy and if Obama continues with his treasonous ways.

No. We are in the middle of a 2nd great depression dude. If they didn't give out food stamps in check card form, we'd see soup lines for miles every day.
You saw the CNN poll last week - mittens and Huckleberry stomp Obama in a potential matchup by a huge 10%.
But Palin - despite the horrible economy and her GOp rivals whooping Obama - Manages to trail obama by a full 10 points. So your point "depends on the economy" - I don't buy it. if she's losing by 10 points in a Great Depression, she has no chance.
-

the only way she could win the primaries is if the Repub voters are as apathetic as they were in the Delaware Senate race and I just don't see that happening
Most likely if she runs she'll get stomped in the early primaries and quit early and whine and moan about how mean everyone was and how she can "do more" as a private citizen
remember this is a person who doesn't like the work of running and likes the work of governing even less
She's perfectly happy tweeting her daily thoughts and bickering like a school girl with anyone she thinks has slighted her
-

If she runs, she can definitely win. Iowa will be tough, as Iowa voters are rather intelligent and informed. However, if she pulls it out, IT'S ON. She'll likely lose the perennial wild card of New Hampshire. They like to be contrarian up there and its next to Romney's home state. Next up is SC, and if she is in the running going into South Carolina, I GUARANTEE she will win that state. After that, she's in the lead and God only knows. :P Palin would probably do well in Nevada too.
DO NOT underestimate Palin beating Obama either. This is America, land of the free, home of the stupid brave.

You may be right, but this is a new day. If she can stick to FOX and just utilize Facebook and Twitter through the first primary... :-\
Palin has to stay on script and just continue to use talking points. Repubes like that. And jump into the game late to avoid the first few debates.

this woman has no interest in the actual job of POTUS
she knows she doesn't have the aptitude for the job but she's got a unique, one person cottage industry of pretending she wants the job and that's what she likes.

I take a shit in that voting booth and write "333386" in feces on my ballot.
When the election officials ask me why I did this, I shall refer them to your 2008 Romney vote over Ron Paul as the catalyst for Palin winning the nod in 2012.

I think she is GREAT at what she does - draw fire from the left and get them to go apeshit and expose themselves for the petty socialists/communists/freaks/far left loons/ everyone fears all while making the rest of the GOP look perfectly sane and reasonable by comparison.
In 2012 - a guy like Thune/Christie/Jindle/Perry will waltz into office while you clowns devote all your energy on her.

the 2 top poli thread right now are about palin - started by 33 and beach bum.
I thought it was the libs who were so focused on her? Yet instead of you and BB talking about thune or christie, you are the ones who start threads - just so she can be attacked - so you can feel great about defending her honor.
Repubs keep her relevant dude.

President Palin

________________________ ________________________ ________________________ ____
If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in LOVE. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. Rom 14:15
There are lots of reasons for Gov Palin to be President besides her being hated by the Establishment, although that is a pretty good one. The NE Corridor has determined she just doesn’t have what it takes like McCain and Barak did. The main criteria we need to choose our next Presidential candidate will be if they live outside the District of Corruption. This is the problem and the primary goal of the next leader will be to clean the swamp of corruption which means you will have to be an outsider and Palin’s porch is a half a world away from that Inner Circle. Besides Tina Fey just bought a new house and needs to pay for and President Palin would give her 8 more yrs of Palin and Conservatives are really, really stupid poopyheads, jokes. This would not only help America but our liberal “comedians” of not having material while their candidates are in office.
The other main issue will be to reverse the institutional laws and regs that have hamstrung our Country to open up capitalism to free market principles like freeing the energy industry to development of our resources. Who understands this more than Palin as the onetime member of the Oil Board in Alaska as well as one of the most effective Governors of that oil rich state? We also need a spokesman who can stand up to the pressures of the establishment who will face intense pressures from the Brie and Chablis crowd to moderate their stances to make them more appealing to the commiecrats. The next President is going to have to make some very difficult decisions on balancing the budget since playing Santa is over and the credit card has arrived. This will be what separates the Conservatives from the modeRats and absolutely critical in the next leader.
Now the echo chamber is repeating she doesn’t have the gravitas it takes to occupy the White House like Ohbummer does. Since most mediots don’t know much about histoir, as we see Ivy League education and leadership are usually polar opposites since the most educated were Carter, Clinton and Neville Chamberlin and the under educated were Churchill, Reagan, Truman, Kennedy and FDR well FDR was a dictator. To imagine that we would even bother to listen to the Stone Age Press as to who our nominee is should really tell us who to pick. They are attempting to Alinsky the Palin name so that the Conservative Country Clubbers will be too embarrassed to embrace her as a serious candidate just like they attempted to do with GW, Reagan and Eisenhower hoping we will pick another Republicrat loser. They want people the independents will vote for like McCain and Dole.
What terrifies the establishment on both sides is that she will become the Tea Party candidate. After she stood up to them and put her neck on the line for all the Tea Party nominees as well as bringing her crowds to the Tea Parties the last thing the Inner Circle could stand would be a Tea Party President. She would bring excitement to the race that has not been seen even by the messiah when the world was fooled by the establishment. This would be a true grassroots movement who would not be bought off by any outside lobbies. She would even be basically separate from the GOP as they have not done any favors for her or the candidates she supported. This terrifies them as they would lose complete control of everything.
The fact that she would be almost completely independent from any corrupting influences is a critical factor to her candidacy. Her shows and books allow her to be a person who has made herself personally wealthy to allow her more independence than most candidates enjoy. We have seen enough of leaders who are a part of one machine or the other and especially corrupt machines like Chicago or the NE corridor. Is the Tea Party ready to take over the DC cesspool and run the ultimate outsider? You betcha!
Now the Punditocracy feigns concern she isn’t a “serious” candidate since she quit as Gov and has a reality TV show. Not sure how either of those relate to your ability to lead a Country out of the malaise we are in now but much of the same was said about Gov Reagan when he went from movies to GE Theater as well as being a B actor who made “Bedtime for Bonzo”. They were mocking him for speaking too much politics in his hosting of a TV show that happened to pay more than most movies did during their time and led him to the Governorship. Then of course there was the knock on GW for being a Gov in a weak Gov state like TX. Seems the libs always have a reason candidates aren’t ready for prime time unless they’re Dems like Kerry, Carter and Kennedy?
The real reason they are terrified of Sister Sarah is what we saw in this election. We will hear how unelectable she is because she is too extreme for the precious Independents and women. Those are the same independents who voted for our candidates this election around 65-35 and women who voted for us for the first time since they got the vote. By nature moderates are followers who are looking for leaders willing to take a stand. The women changed to Repubs since we explained our values better than ever before and much of that reason is we ran more women than we ever have. We also won’t hear how the Tea Party movement is 55% women and heavily Independent and Conservative. This is a mix that is not only a winner but the death to the DNC victim politics. This is the real reason the Punditocracy will be trying to convince us she is unelectable and need to look at someone more “moderate” or beatable. Does the Tea Party compromise their values and beliefs in the Beltway or do they mine real Gold in Alaska w/Palin? They may want to add a pick and shovel to those tea bags.
Pray for America

How many ties do I have to say this - I like Christie or Thune, burt if Sarah is the nminee I will do everything to help her over Obama.
For me - the SC picks are what matters very high on the list. Do we want sotomayor an Kagan or Scalia and Alito?
-
This article, aside from using the word "poopyhead", delivers a phrase:
"as one of the most effective Governors of that oil rich state"
33, what say you? How effective is a governor who racks up crazy debt per person, campaigns for half her term, then quits after 65% of her term served?
I mean, is a QB effective if he throws picks until his team has a 28-0 deficit... then decides to quit in the middle of the 3rd quarter to becomes a sports analyst?

I was tossed off of FR for bashing bush endlessly over that disgusting act or cronyism.
Harriet Meyers was one of the reasons I not only turned on Bush, but becam one of his biggest critics on FR.
They booted me from FR for that.
Picking Meyers for SC set me off like a nuke.

Yeah, Palin wouldn't pick someone from one of those elitist blue blood schools in the northeast. Let's get someone who went to four to five colleges before graduating. None of that graduate school crap. Someone with "common sense" principles who will follow the constitution. Nothing in Palin's past suggests she would pick a personal friend over the best qualified, so no doubt we could count on her to do the right thing for America.

Is Palin pushing more than her book in Iowa?
By Mike Glover and Charles Babington, Associated Press
DES MOINES, Iowa — Sarah Palin, the telegenic Republican who exasperates and delights voters about equally, is dropping ever more hints of a presidential bid, including a visit Saturday to the key state of Iowa.
The official purpose of her trip to suburban Des Moines is to promote her new book, “America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag.” But Democratic and Republican insiders will search for every possible hint of whether she will seek the nomination to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012.
Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential nominee, has fed such speculation in recent days. She told ABC’s Barbara Walters she thinks she could beat Obama, adding, “I’m looking at the lay of the land now.”
In a separate interview, Obama told Walters, “I don’t think about Sarah Palin.” He added that Palin has “a strong base of support in the Republican Party, and I respect those skills.”
Palin will attend a second book-signing event next week in Iowa, which holds the nation’s first presidential caucuses in 13 months.
Some political pros suspect it’s a tease, a way for Palin to keep drawing big crowds to her lucrative TV show and books while avoiding the nitty-gritty work of organizing a national campaign, wooing hard-to-impress caucus voters and raising millions of dollars.
Others warn against underestimating her ambition or her ability to snatch the GOP nomination from a dozen men who covet it.
“She may run away with it, and that’s something everybody has to be prepared for,” said Mike Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa Republican caucus. He is weighing another presidential run, and some feel he wants to set high expectations for a possible rival.
While Palin’s fans are loyal and legion, the prospect of her running for president alarms some Republicans. They think Palin is too polarizing and too inexperienced to defeat Obama, even if Republicans in general can maintain the momentum of their powerful performance in this month’s midterm elections.
Her foreign policy gaffe Wednesday kept the question alive. She declared on Glenn Beck’s syndicated radio show that the United States has to stand with “our North Korean allies” in connection with tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Her mistake was quickly corrected by her host. But it drew immediate fire from liberal bloggers who cited it as an example of her lack of foreign policy expertise. Newspapers in Asia and Europe echoed the criticism. The Times of India says Palin “did it again,” while London’s Daily Mail says she “may want to brush up on her geography.”
The conservative U.S. website The Weekly Standard came to Palin’s defense, pointing out that “she correctly identified North Korea as our enemy literally eight seconds before the mix-up.”
At home, polls show voters deeply divided over Palin. A recent AP-GfK poll found that 46 percent of Americans view her favorably while 49 percent hold an unfavorable view. The portion holding a “very unfavorable” view heavily outweighs those with a “very favorable” view.
In the poll, 79 percent of self-described Republicans said they like Palin. That suggests she might do well in GOP primaries, although she has some work to do in Iowa.
In exit polls of Iowa Republicans who voted this month, 21 percent said they’d like to see Huckabee win the 2012 caucus.
Palin’s speeches and book-signing parties typically are carefully controlled affairs, with reporters kept at a distance. But if she is to compete in early voting states such as Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, she will have to mingle with inquisitive voters in scores of living rooms and small gatherings, experienced strategists say.
“At some point in time, if she’s a serious candidate, she has to do what other candidates do, and that’s engage people one on one,” said veteran Iowa GOP activist Steve Scheffler. “You may be a rock star, but if you don’t have the mechanics, it’s difficult.”
Huckabee, an ordained minister who ran an intense grass-roots campaign in Iowa before falling to eventual GOP nominee John McCain, agreed.
“People in Iowa and New Hampshire are not star-struck because somebody is running for president,” he said. “They will ask the hard questions and they will put people through the wringer.”
It’s possible, however, that Palin’s high visibility — boosted by frequent appearances on Fox News and her new TV show on the TLC network, “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” — will let her play by different rules. No other potential GOP candidate can touch off a media frenzy with a brief comment on Facebook or Twitter as she can. Palin’s golden touch extended to her daughter, Bristol, whom voters repeatedly brought back for more “Dancing with the Stars” despite her limited talent.
Before the TV hit’s final show, in which she finished third, Bristol Palin said winning the contest “would be like a big middle finger to all the people out there that hate my mom and hate me.”
Sarah Palin’s record certainly has its dents.
Many are still bewildered by Palin’s abrupt decision in July 2009 to step down as Alaska’s governor. If she didn’t want to finish one term as governor of a sparsely populated state, they ask, how badly can she want to be president, and how well could she serve?
Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine recently told the Kennebec Journal: “I think she likes being a celebrity commentator for Fox, and a speaker, and being able to provide for her family. It’s a lot easier to charge people up than to actually govern.”
Former first lady Barbara Bush said Palin seems happy in Alaska and “I hope she’ll stay there.”
In Iowa, some doubt that Palin can skate by on her fame while Romney, Huckabee and others go door-to-door, day after day.
“Is she going to try to organize on star power, which is problematic?” asked Ed Failor Jr., head of Iowans for Tax Relief. “She really could be a very good candidate,” he said, “but there are a lot of decisions she needs to make about how to proceed with the caucus process.”
Palin keeps only a few advisers close to her, led by her husband, Todd. She told the New York Times Magazine that if she runs for president, “the organization would have to change.”
Bob Vander Plaats, who heads The Family Leader, an Iowa umbrella group of evangelical Christian organizations, said Palin appeals to many but must do some ground work.
“There’s a big difference between coming to Iowa and signing a book and coming to Iowa and saying you want to be commander in chief and leader of the free world,” he said. He said the last celebrity candidate in Iowa was former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who fizzled badly.
“It didn’t play well when he came with his rope lines and his motorcades,” Vander Plaats said. “People wanted to sit at the kitchen table with him.”
Terry Holt, a Washington-based Republican campaign strategist, said Palin “is a force to be reckoned with.” She’s doing some things that a candidate needs to do, he said, and “all the things that kingmakers need to do.”
Following a midterm election in which voters embraced non-mainstream Republicans in many states, Holt said, “it would be a mistake to sell her short.”
Babington reported from Washington.

Benny:
What do you think of this clip?
-
Palin's got no interest in running and even less interest in public service
that woman is all about the money and she likes to sit on the sidelines and pick silly fights with people
She seems to really enjoy her pettty little feuds
Here's a short lst of her fueds off the top of my head: Walt Monegan, David Letterman, Levi Johnston, The Bush's, Joe Miller, one of her neighbor (can't recall the name), Katie Couric, Murkowski, Mitt Romney, McCains people, Emily's List, etc...
there is absolutely nothing presidential about her at all
I hope she becomes president.

Great point there.
She demands people refer to her with the "Governor" title. She demands bendy straws. She freaks out when anyone asks what she considers a 'gotcha' question.
Imagine 20 months of her in diners and small town meetings. She'll get a shitload of coverage, and she'll get high on the attention, and she'll deliver some pretty obnoxious stuff.
Remember - right now, she gives us a gaffe per week - and her only speaking is carefully controlled FOX news (where beck saves her on N Korean allies speak), and her facebook posts, some of which she probably doesn't write. it'll be hilarious to see her completely speaking on her own, every day all day.

Cali and Ny will still go to obama.
But Florida? N Carolina? That whole appalacian ignorant ass trailer vote that went on CNN and bragged they voted hilary cause of obama's skin color?
barbour won't win lib cities, but he'll do very well in these big mid and southern states that Obama won. WAY BETTER than palin, who is trailing obama by 10 while her peers lead him by 10 - cause the whole nation thinks she's ignorant, plain and simple.

Palin knows she doesn't have the capacity to do the job and she's not interested in the job
she's figured out how to make money by pretending she wants the job and that's all she is interested in doing
her Republican opponents will tear her to shreds in the primaries and she will quit early and complain about how unfair the media is and how she can do more good as a public citizen
that's what I've said on this thread - no bitching or whining or calling anyone a "poopoo head"

Its called FEAR thatshe can tap the masses of working class whites into voting for her, the voting block that elects presidents.
The 95% of blacks who vote dem not matter what are completely irrelvent to elections. The Hispanics do have an impact, but not so large yet since they are anywhere from 35-60% for dems.
It is the working class whites who still have the largest voting block in this nation and these far left
crypto-communists/progressives/marxists/psuedo-socialists/libs etc know that Palin connects with the average guy paying their bills sick and tired of payng for the parasite class.

Straw - please explain this video and what obama did in the 146 days after this that he declared a candidate for POTUS that made him admittedly not qualified to being qualified.

One major difference (out of many) between Obama and Palin is that he actually wants the job
she does not
she wants to make money and tweet and have petty grade school feuds with anyone and everyone
the last thing she wants is a hard job where she has to work 18 hours a day and make hard decisions
-

As far as i can tell - obama wanted to win to gratify his ego - but doing the job? Please.

Because those schmucks are part of the same cabal as Kerry, nelson, lieberman, feinstein, Boxer, et al and don't want one of the unwashed masses coming and upsetting the apple cart from the flim flam routine and scam they are running on the public.
-
As far as i can tell - obama wanted to win to gratify his ego - but doing the job? Please.
if that were the case then why not just take a cue from Palin and quit
her rationale for quiting as governor was that she didn't want to be a lame duck..... remember?
-
Palin knows she doesn't have the capacity to do the job and she's not interested in the job
Some of you make it sound as if you have to be a brain surgeon with to law degrees and a PhD in mathematics to be qualified to be president.
She more than "has the capacity" the first and foremost being common sense, that's the biggest thing missing from the office today.
yet you haven't refuted any of it
Sometimes it's very hard to refute things that make no sense to begin with.
the only party that is afraid of Palin are the Repubs
they know she is poison to their party and will only hurt them while inadvertently helping the Dems
I seriously doubt that. She is the best thing the GOP has going for it right now, if it were not for Palin we would not have seen such a big midterm for the GOP this year...hard to see how anyone could dispute that.
You also mentioned "Obama wants the job" and that's one of his biggest problems IMO. I don't want anyone in that position that wants it that bad...being president should be viewed as a burden, not as a positive position of power.
-

I see zero evidence that she has the intellectual capacity, or the interpersonal skills for the job
I also see zero evidence of common sense
Quiting her job is proof (to me) she has zero interest in public service
I'd be willing to bet $100 that she doesn't even attempt to run or if she does that it will be a half ass attempt and she will quit very quickly (like she's known to do)

McCain compares Palin to Reagan
By: CNN's Gabriella Schwarz
(CNN) - Sen. John McCain helped catapult former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to the national stage and now he's equating her to former President Ronald Reagan.
He made the comparison Sunday when asked if Palin is "divisive."
"I think anybody that has the visibility that Sarah has is obviously going to have some divisiveness," McCain said on CNN's "State of the Union." "I remember that a guy named Ronald Reagan used to be viewed by some as divisive."
The former Republican presidential nominee called Palin "an incredible force in the American political arena" and said she's "keeping her options open."
"I think she's doing great job," McCain told CNN's Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley. "I think she's motivating our base. I think she had a positive impact on the last election and I'm proud of her."

"Just as the conservative intellectuals once projected their hopes onto Dubya, now they project their disappointments onto Sarah. But the fault is theirs, not hers. And Sarah has something the intellectuals don't have -- an army. Brother, I've seen that army. So you can take your David Frums and your David Brookses, and let Sarah take that army and, by God, we'll see whose Republican Party this is." -Robert Stacy McCain

My view is that Sarah Palin is hell-bent on running for President, and that it's been more than obvious for a long time. The argument that Palin is only out there for the money is not true at all in my opinion. What she wants is MONEY, but also POWER. Sarah Palin is not a rationally thinking person, she never was, and should not be viewed by "rational" standards. Her "version of reality" is profoundly different from that of almost anyone else. In addition, Palin could still make much, much more money after a presidential run, she could easily publish more books, make many more highly paid speeches etc.
We discovered another piece of evidence which really should leave no doubt of what Sarah Palin's real intentions are:
Some of the administrators of Sarah Palin's facebook page also started the facebook group "Sarah Palin 2012", which appears to be the "official" facebook group for Palin's upcoming presidential campaign.
Four of Sarah Palin's facebook administrators, namely Maggie Walsh, Zach Johanson, Tommy Child and and Doug Lane, are also the administrators and/or "officers" of a new facebook-group: "Sarah Palin 2012."
If the "doubters" ever needed more proof that Sarah Palin will run for President, then this is it, as there is no way that these people would have set up this new facebook group without Sarah Palin's approval. In addition, the facebook group has in fact a very "official" look and also NO DISCLAIMER that it's not approved by Sarah Palin - and have you ever seen a "non-official" facebook group that has twenty so-called "officers?"
There is no doubt in my mind that this facebook-group is part of Sarah Palin's "own" operation, that this is in fact the official facebook group for her presidential run.

And Sarah has something the intellectuals don't have -- an army.
Agreed. Just enough to win the GOp nomination.
But that army won't be enough to win the presidency. Not when the other 60% of america thinks she's incompetent.
It'll come down to "Would you rather have a dog you agree with driving the car.... or a person you can't stand"?

I really think a lot of you underestimate Palin or rather the Palin movement. Rasmussen has had her ahead more than once. WSJ reader poll as of today has her leading 51% to 48%.
Who knows if she'll run or not but the talk of her not having a chance in hell is naive IMO.

OK, fine, is Rasmussen worth anything to you?
All-in-all no one has a clue how it will play out, much less if she'll run or not but to discount her so easily is foolish IMO. Some may not like her but that's beside the point.

‘Stunning the Halibut’
If the Democrats think things are bad now, wait until Sarah Palin grabs them by their bleeding hearts.
by Steve TuttleNovember 26, 2010
________________________ ________________________ __
Video muted: click volume for sound The Palins Club Fish on 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Sarah Palin and daughter Bristol try their hand at commercial halibut fishing.
When Democrats and progressive pundits start whining about how we’re having an anti-intellectual moment, it can mean only one thing: they just got their butts handed to them in an election. It’s not often you see the lefty New Republic and the righty National Review use the same Obama quote on their covers to describe anything, but they did after the Nov. 2 midterms: “Shellacking.”
It may be good news for the Democrats that many people didn’t seem to get the word about this big event, or even exactly which party is in charge. According to a Pew Research Center poll released last week, “Fewer than half (46%) know that the Republicans will have a majority only in the House of Representatives when the new Congress convenes in January, while 38% can identify John Boehner as the incoming House speaker.” Nancy Pelosi should just keep showing up every day as if nothing has changed, like Milton Waddams in Office Space. She can go cubicle to cubicle asking if anyone has her red stapler, and see how long it takes to get tossed out on her ear.
PHOTOS: The Life and Career of Sarah Palin »
Then again, you can be sure that a lot of the fired-up Tea Partiers know exactly what they accomplished this election cycle. So some of the 54 percent who don’t understand must be Democrats who aren’t paying close attention, which is one of the reasons the party finds itself in this electoral mess. The paying-attention wing of the party is left to ponder what—to it—are seemingly contradictory thoughts among the voting public. According to a Rasmussen poll last week, slightly more than half of Americans (51 percent) say it is possible to achieve a balanced federal budget without raising taxes. But many Democrats believe raising taxes is an absolute necessity to balance the budget and dig out of the $1.4 trillion annual hole we’re in. An increasing number of Americans just don’t trust them to do it right, and with good reason. Most people think the government wastes money.
The Republicans played to this “we can slash our way out” sentiment when they unleashed YouCut this spring, a Web site designed to let citizens weigh in on what budget items should be axed. The New York Times did them one better with its “You Fix the Budget” online puzzle last week. It turns out it’s a lot harder than it looks, and not that fun because you can eliminate farm subsidies only one time.
And if the revenge of the Tea Party people weren’t enough to drive Democrats mad during the election, now it seems that the group’s tentacles have reached into the sacred world of reality-TV dance competitions. On Dancing With the Stars, Bristol Palin survived far longer than expected. It’s been whispered—and yelled—that she made it as far as she did only because the Tea Party voted in droves to keep her in the competition. Which brings me to that other reality-TV star and author, the big Mama Grizzly herself. As each day counts down toward the 2012 election, it seems more and more possible to me that Sarah Palin could be president of the United States.
This week I stumbled upon Sarah Palin’s Alaska by looking it up in the TV directory and sitting down on the couch at the time it started so I could view it. I watched Palin take a club to a huge halibut that was flopping around on the deck of a boat, knocking it out cold so it could be thrown into the hold of a professional fishing vessel. She said in her singsong voice, which seems sometimes oddly Germanic, that she was “stunning the halibut.” Not only was I entranced by her awesomeness, but I now have a new favorite catchphrase.
PHOTOS: The Career and Life of Sarah Palin
Who is Sarah Palin? As the fish story unfolded, Palin said, “I wasn’t goin’ to hesitate either, especially when the fish were pilin’ up and they’re slappin’ around. They could do some damage here. We need to calm these boys down real quick.” As the huge halibut flopped about, she cried out, “Sheesh! That hurts like crap!” She explained to the camera that she got slapped across the thigh by one of them: “I realized—yeah, they could hurtcha!” Later, she and her dancing daughter, Bristol, took the halibut’s still-beating hearts and held them in their hands. The harder the Palin gals squeezed, the faster the little panicked hearts pumped. The Democrats need look no further for symbolic harbingers of what could happen in 2012.

The BBC recently ran a program on the possibility of Sarah Palin running for/ becoming POTUS. With a couple of exceptions, the Brits featured found that prospect “scary,” one caller saying that the idea “terrifies me rigid.” One commenter thought that “Michael Palin would do a better job.” Patrick notes that the Guardian has been following events closely, including linking to Palingates in two articles on Palin’s new book. Patrick then sums it up the current state of the Palin affair: “It's a huge tragedy that the USA is now being tormented by a woman who combines delusions of grandeur with a severe mental disorder and an unrestrained desire to punish her enemies…The insanity will continue.”

Wallace: Palin Prickly, Very Cynical
Former Bush communications adviser Nicolle Wallace took to MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Wednesday, the home of recently announced Sarah Palin pessimist Joe Scarborough, and argued that the worry about the former Alaska governor's 2012 ambitions were unfounded. The GOP's supposed "President Palin" dilemma would work itself out, she said. Still, Wallace said that Palin displays "incredible cynicism" and is "very prickly."
"I believe that if she were on the cusp of becoming the nominee for the Republican party a whole lot of people... would talk about some of her more troubling deficiencies," Wallace said. "Her incredible cynicism, her bitterness, her aggressive attempts to claw anyone that points out an area for her to work on, I think these things will continue to reveal herself and the people that love her will continue to love her, but the people who are not so sure about her will, I think, formulate harder opinions and more clarity about her."
But when it comes to Republicans taking the initiative and aggressively mounting a campaign to eliminate Palin from the pre-2012 presidential proceedings, as Scarborough urged Tuesday, Wallace argued that this was unnecessary, and perhaps even impossible.
"No one's gonna cut her off at the legs," Wallace claimed. "Only Sarah Palin can beat Sarah Palin, and let me tell you why no one will take her on. Her defenders and supporters, the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity -- people I admire -- are so powerful on the Right that nobody wants to anger any of those people, nobody wants to end up in the crosshairs, and nobody wants to look like they are unwilling to let her do her thing."Wallace continued: "Just let her do her thing, she is going to be exposed enough to the American public that she will reveal what her nature is. I think her nature has been revealed lately as very prickly, very cynical."
Some, such as Meghan McCain, have argued conversely that Palin's extreme media exposure is a positive thing for her seemingly impending campaign. McCain wrote in a recent post for the Daily Beast that Palin may even be capable of "saturat[ing] the American public until we forget that anything or anyone else exists or is even an option in 2012."
According to Wallace -- who worked on the McCain campaign in 2008 and stood directly at odds with Sarah Palin multiple times -- there's little real risk that anybody in the GOP would actually let this prospect come to light.

It's Her Party Now, Ctd

ANDREW SULLIVAN
The latest PPP poll of Republicans finds Palin just at the top of the list of possible candidates, with the highest favorable ratings, followed a little after by Huckabee. Among Republicans, her favorable/unfavorable rating is 68/22. Among the entire population it's 39/52. As the GOP marinates some more and becomes increasingly sealed off from everyone else, those numbers may become even more distant.
I've been watching Sarah Palin's Alaska diligently, although I recommend some form of consciousness alteration if you want to dive in. The latest was quite something, if only as proof that she isn't the only smoking hot member of her family. Former-teen-vandal now soldier Track is a dream-boat (although his facial hair seems to fluctuate from one scene to the next). But he's also clearly useless. I don't know what they edited out, but his alleged attempt to take over his dad's salmon run was obviously a total dud. I counted very few fish. And he seemed unable to get up in the morning and wrecked the boat-trailer wheels.
There was also a rather moving segment with Sarah Palin brought close to tears by the thought of Trig growing up like another, older child with Down Syndrome that we met. I remain as always in awe of those who seek to rear and love children with special needs; and I think the show is worthwhile if only to provide a glimpse (an obviously manicured and propagandized glimpse) of what that means. No, my desire to know the facts behind the pregnancy and labor and birth has not faltered (it's my job to scrutinize strange claims by public figures). But I was moved nonetheless - and if I was moved, other surely will be. Whatever else you say about her, rearing Trig - and including him fully in family outings - is a blessed thing to do.
This is a reality show, of course, however preposterously Palin denies it. Do nature documentaries begin with portraits and names of family members?
And like most reality shows, it tried to coerce what would otherwise be an utterly banal attempt by one family to go fishing (and fail) into some kind of strained narrative. Palin kept repeating it to us - this episode was about Track finally earning respect from Todd. He didn't, obviously. It was silly, obviously. The outtakes would have been much more interesting. But without that arc - and just the sheer hathos of listening to Palin go on and on and on as if silence would kill her - the whole thing would have been beyond dull.
Still, I wouldn't under-estimate this kind of stuff. It's for her base, of course. But the propaganda is powerful, intense and the sheer energy she must expend doing all of this, while tweeting and speaking and flying all over the place is, well, impressive in a deranged kind of way. If anyone thinks this neurotic, delusional force of nature is not going to run for the White House, they should watch the show.

I'd take her any day over what we have now.

Seriously have to question your sanity with this statement... I'm not saying Obama is great, but Palin just seems to be the same trainwreck but with more baby jesus and less taxes.

Do you want me to go issue by issue.

Do you want me to go issue by issue.
Issue by Issue doesn't matter once you're in office.
The woman is a fuckup... That's just reality.

Do you want me to go issue by issue.
Issues.........Sure.
Amnesty? She supports it. She is against the name, but says the illegals can all stay if they sign a paper.
Capping emissions? She supported it in 2008 and is against it in 2010.
TARP? She told us it was essential and now she's against the govt helping banks.
She's held both sides of a lot of issues - very helpful.

above all 33......
Many people who AGREE with her on the issues just don't think she is SMART enough, MATURE enough, or possesses the thought processes and EMOTIONAL SELF CONTROL to hold the office.
She's debate-team caliber on "the issues". She cheerleads them for the ignorant who like her "legs" as you mentioned. But you put her in a room with Putin and China's leader... she'd get pwned. And repubs know it too.
You and "the issues"... I know my dog is about as conservative as one can get... but I wouldn't want him running the country.

He ran reagan's white house and is probably one of the top 3 repub advisers over the last 3 decades.
He said palin is woefully unprepared dude.

I guess my saying I will vote or Vandersloot over Obama if he is the GOP nominee was lost on you?

No, I'm well aware you have extremely low standards for your leaders.

Compared to what we have dealt with Obama - almost anyone is better, including vandersloot.

McWay s black you ignorant fool.
I AM??? I thought I just overdid the Coppertone. That explains my thing for thick-thighed, big-booty redbones.

Next week Sarah is decked out in camo and looks like she is going to take out a big caribou. Meanwhile, obama nursing a fat lip.
ha ha ha.
You think Baby Girl can dunk on him?

factually wrong.
Obama has bowed and kissed ass and gave concessions - but we are still afloat. UE is up a few points, but the banks and automakers haven't failed. And UE is up worldwide, isn't it?
So if Obama has to look like a punk - but china isn't moving in and russia isn't doing this or that - I think he has outplayed your man Joran, who would have probably just choked a few girls out and let our enemies nuke us.
Obama has initiated policies you disagree with - but the dollar is still #1 in the world and we haven't been attacked.
