Why not taser the dude or at least shoot rubber bullets at him?
How about someone sneaking up from behind and just hittin the knife out of his hand with a billy club or dumping him out of the whell chair?

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was in a wheelchair but was not confined to it, Chiang said.
“He was seen up and moving about a number of times,” he said.
Police Chief George Gascon said officers unsuccessfully tried to subdue the man with pepper spray and a bean bag round before the shooting.
Gascon used the incident to again call for Tasers for the department, saying the weapons could be very helpful in situations like this one.
“This is a continuation of a problem that we have, because of the lack of a very useful tool that is not in the arsenal of the San Francisco Police Department,” said Gascon.

The suspect had a rock and knife in his hand and was slashing the tires of some city vehicles in the area, Chiang said. He did not know what the man’s motive was for vandalizing the cars.
Following some sort of altercation, the man stabbed one of the officers and then was shot with a less-than-lethal beanbag weapon, Chiang said. When the suspect did not surrender, he was also shot with a handgun, he said.
Chiang did not know if the officer who was stabbed was the one who shot the suspect.

in this day, I bet cops are willing to shoot someone holding a gun to their own head. no more trying to talk a person down, just off the dude. could be a pocket knife, these clowns will just open fire even if they're 30 feet away.

haha, yes the guy was obviously just joshing around..... ;D If i was a cop, which i surely don't have the disposition for, I would do EVERYTHING to make sure i was the one going home at the end of the day, not some scumbag.

Truth. They did what they were trained to do. If that guy didn't want to get shot, all he had to do was put the knife down and do what he was told.

That is true in probably 90% of police shootings. If the idiots would just do exactly what they ask at the time. if you have a beef, etc... while 5 or 6 armed men have weapons trained on you is NOT the time to plead your case.
Yes, before someone posts it, i know there are some trigger happy cops who do fire without following procedure and they deserve to be jailed for it.

I honestly am more worried about Cops than i am about actual criminals at this point.

So, the San Fran Police Force doesn't have Tasers---when small hick counties do...or smaller cities and Counties do...I wonder why?
