Besides dumbass remakes.
After MMA has arrived it seems like the "cred" of karate "masters" has gone down the drain. Now everyone knows its pretty much useless and any decent wrestler would just take them down.
Is some of the myth/aura gone?

And other stupid bs like this
10-15 years ago everyone believed this?

everybody knows, no can defense to the crane kick

you don't know how many times i have this discussion
the "tournament" movie genre that was huge in the mid/late 80's into the 90's will never be the same thanks to two things
1)MMA
2) lack of quality talent to star in these movies
I think the "Karate" genre could comeback because the movie going audience can easily suspend disbelief
In closing, i want to say that Jeff Speakman should have been a bigger star than he actually was

can you imagine that old man. For everyday of his 70 yr (whatever old age) old life he has thought he was the baddest man on the planet. And right then and there, he realisedhis entire life is just one big lie. Probably lived in it for soo long he actually believed his own lies..
and it all just came crashing down.

Not bashing MMA, I like it but....
Isn't it funny that after all the skill the fighters attain, they still just stand and brawl like parking lot toughs lol

what?
mma gets a bunch of comments for being "gay and boring" when they take it to the mat. because most of the poeple that doesnt train doesnt truly appriciate it.
so I dont understand your post at all.
the average joe wants to see standing.
and standing = more entertaining = more sales = better salery.

LOL The karate genre was dead LONG, LONG before the public has ever heared anything about MMA (the majority still hasn't). Times have changed, there are no "tournament" movies anymore. With the rise of a new Van Damme guy, and the current remake madness in Hollywood, all could be different in 5 years again. Looking forward to "Bloodsport 2015".
Blaming MMA for the dead of the Karate movie genre is the most stupid, ridicolous thing I've ever heared, even for Swedes standard. U think the cannibal genre and the Western genre is also dead because of MMA? Cause that would be just as reasonable. ::)

Ok, here is my point.
They trained for who knows how long perfecting their techniques, moves, etc. Most guys have different backgrounds and styles, blah, blah, blah, and after all of that you still end up with 2 guys just swinging at each other. Hundreds of moves, chokes, holds, whatever else you wanna throw in, and you STILL have 2 guys brawling like a underground fight club.
I'm not saying they're not talented, or that they don't train hard, or that I don't enjoy watching KO's.
I'm just saying that in the end its like a parking lot fight lol. Even tho they have belts in this category and that.
whatever tho, go MMA!

I know I been watching UFC since almost day 1.
But you still don't understand me do you ? Lol.
You're right not every fight is stand up, but most of them are. Whether your a boxer or taekwondo master, its still A vs B, jabbing away, throwing a punch back and forth. Yeah sometimes theres a clear difference between styles, but like I said, Most of the time, its a "brawl".
The best tho has to be when a Jiu-Jitsu guy KO's someone with a punch and he screams "Jiu Jitsu!!!! Jiu Jitsu!!!! hahaha.

karate still works just ask frank mir and lyoto machida

Wrestling not a martial art? Uh, yeah, it is, dude. Anyway ...
Modern MMA is mostly a test of conditioning, to be honest. It is the most important attribute in MMA success. And let's be real, anyway: MMA competition has gone through evolved specificity and become a sport, not true "fighting'. A real fighter doesn't train to be dicking around for five minutes sparring with an adversary. I am not disrespecting MMA athletes, either. They're amazing. But one has to be real.
In almost all altercation scenarios, strength, speed, aggression, and a good one-two (or three) punch combination will win the fray. If it's a mortal threat, eye gouging, biting, clawing, breaking, ball hitting, slapping, etc. will only further the damage to the opponent. If a person has the stomach to inflict horrific pain and injury, and he has superior strength, coordination and athleticism, there will be little in the way of fighting.
Fighting is a waste of time if survival is the goal. Immobilizing your threat is priority one.
