More than 400 amendments were filed Monday night. Among them were a proposal from Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark., to eliminate funding for the president's Teleprompter and one from Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, to strip funding for the alteration, repair or improvement of the executive residence of the White House and instead divert that amount to deficit reduction.

Most of the amendments will probably come from House Republicans, not Democrats, who want deeper cuts than the $100 billion. This will go on for two days, with a final vote culminating sometime on Thursday.

Probably the money is for the operator of that thing.   I think its a manual scroll or something like that.

Either way - I hate those damn things and hope they slash and burn most spending to the bone.

Obama will be better off without it anyway as it has become yet another laugh line against him.

petty grandstanding.

obama just released a budget proposal and they won't have theirs ready for 2 months at earliest.

But don't worry - the repubs have time to play bullshit games like this and pass symbolic bills they readily admit will fail.

Hey, "people who say relax, they've only been in power 3 weeks now..."

It's been 6 weeks now.  And the repubs are still dicking around with dumb things like that, telling us they'll need TWENTY weeks to have their budget propsal ready.  Gimme a break.
