Well, the 1M is suppose to be the M that brings M Division back to it's roots, or so the marketing says. Those that have been invited to test drive it rave about it...Chris Harris of Evo has said he thinks it's more of a enthusiasts driver car than the M3 he has. It's really telling that a car that has the e92's suspension and diff and does 10 sec faster on the 'Ring than the E46 M3, has been handicapped by not getting the DCT (dual clutch tranny) from the M3...
I have been following this car's development since 2009.
I almost pulled on a 135i. In fact I was at the dealership, and I ask the salesman would there be a M version and he said he didn't think so. So, I thought---"there usually is a M version of series cars", so I chose not to go ahead with the 135i

That was 11 yrs ago...
But, you said a Prius before, that new Nissan Leaf looks promising...and BMW has a new brand called the "i" Look for the i3 (a city car) around 2013, and the i8 sports car around the time (The Vision Dynamics car)

White looks better imo.

The white or black one looks good---I like how the wheel flares look on the black one.
-
One of the best colors BMW has come up with is the "Chrome Shadow" but it's notoriously expensive and high maintenance so it's only reserved for concepts or show cars.
The copper red on the 1M looks good too. I've yet to see an ugly color on this car.

There are only three colors available for this car- Valencia Orange, Alpine White, and thar black. All other colors, it was alluded to, you would have to pay BMW Individual for. I believe that is 5k for a diff paint color.

is that quad exhaust? :P

Fake quads, just like the E46 M3...there was this huge debate on that forum (1addicts.com) that it wasn't a "M" car if it didn't have quad exhausts... They are real quad tips, the exhaust runs to one side---the left and the canister is in the middle, with the right side having the right side tips.

BMW was smart enough not to name the M version of the 1 series M1 but rather 1M.
Same with Audi, initially they wanted to name the sporty version of the A1, S1.. That would be a huge insult to the real Audi S1..

Yep, even though, some on the forum still call the 1M, "M1", makes no sense...the next 1M which maybe called M2, will have a turbo 4...
-
Unless you're a small (sub 220 lbs) fucker just get a 550i and call it a day. I'm sure you can now get a used one for what the 1M will cost.

That's not "murdered" out 1M, it'd need dark tints and shadowed corner/tail lights, etc. It's just a black 1M with black wheels lol

Yeah, I know, but it is as close to "murdered out" as a pre-production car gets...look at the rims, they don't have the BMW emblem in it---signs that it is pre-production, as the German government states that prototype cars don't have the emblems showing (so I've been told)

Yes, definitely going to be a great car, and I love the fender flares on it, but I've always thought the 1 series looked ackward. I've driven the 135i and it's pretty comfortable.
Price is another thing, think the 1m base is 46/47k, loaded you're looking at 55k or so. I've also stated numerous times that I favor NA motors on M cars and now all future models will be turbo.

Long live the V10 M5 and V8 M3 :'(
